Belem tower (Torre de Belém), Jeronimos Monastery ( Mosteiro dos Jeronimos), Monument to the Discoveries (Padrão dos Descobrimentos), CCB (Belém Cultural Center) holding a permanent contemporany art exhibit from the Berardo Collection - it features works from Picasso, Dalí, Duchamp, Magritte, Andy Warhol, among others, Coach Museum (Museu dos Coches) housed in the former riding school of the palace, the world's largest collection of coaches and royal vehicles, Statue to Afonso de Albuquerque, Electricity Museum with an excellent interactive exposition in a building of former power station, The interesting Maritime Museum is one of the most important in Europe, evoking Portugal's domination of the seas.

Beautiful Gardens
Walk to the Tropical Agricultural Garden museum created in 1906. It is full of plants from the old Portuguese colonies. As you leave the gardens make sure you walk to Antiga Confeitaria de Belém. No visit to Belem is complete without trying this world famous pastry. The bakery is a 17th century cafe with azulejo-decorated walls. If you can not find a table, take them to go and cross the street to Jardins de Belem with its fantastic views of the river.
A Romantic Royal Palace
Walk to Ajuda National Palace. Although it was never completed as planned due to the exile of the royal family to Brazil caused by the Napoleonic invasion, it is considered one of Europe's most perfect romantic buildings.
As you walk on Calcada da Ajuda, stop and visit the Ajuda Botanical Garden, laid out in Italian style, where you will find a collection of rare plants, including an approximately 400 year old dragon tree,. A view of the Tagus and of the 25 de Abril bridge can be enjoyed from a higher terrace.

We spent 5 wonderful days at your apartment. We liked very much the decoration, the small patio and the quiet location. The farmer' s market is wonderful to get fresh produce and everything you need is at a walking distance. We will be back!!!Recommended for: Girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, families with young children.

We absolutely loved staying in the apartment, it felt like a home rather than a rental and was perfectly located, clean and comfortable. We had all needful things and free Internet in the flat. There are so many sights available to walking by foot. Our only regret was not being able to stay longer. I took my son to the Coaches museum, the Jeronimos and walked around Belem, it was great fun. The apartment is exactly as it appears in the photos. There are grocery stores and even a farmer's market close by and a couple of times we chose to eat in before heading back out for a night stroll. We found the surrounding area to be quite charming, picturesque and safe, and the building quiet. If we'll decide to visit Lisbon one more time, we'll rent this flat again. Thank you again for sharing your home with us.Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, age 55+.
Owner response: Dear Amy, Thank you very much for your nice review. I hope you will decide to visit again. Dina

It's been a busy week so far but I wanted to connect with you and tell you how very much I love your apartment. At first I was quite apprehensive about the additional work it would create not having the convenience of a hotel but I must say it is so wonderful to feel so relaxed and at home. I found the grocery store and I've been out for several short lovely walks. The way that you have set up the apartement and all of your supplies are much appreciated. I hope that we can stay in communication so that I can book the apartment again when I am back in Lisbon. Thank you and very best regards.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The listing was accurate - a modern, tasteful and quiet apartment. Our family of 3 was very pleased and comfortable. The owner took the time to give us some sightseeing tips. The neighborhood is safe. The apartment is at walking distance from a lot of monuments, museums and gardens. . We walked to Belem and visited the Jeronimos Monastery, the Maritime Museum, The Belem Tower and the Discoveries monument... We visited the CCB and the Berardo comtemporary and modern art collection. We higly reccomend a stop at pasteis de Belem and by the end of the day we reccomend drinks at Piazza di Mare ( a Bar and restaurant overlooking the river). Another plus is that public transportation is one block away from the apartment with buses and electric cars to Baixa to explore other old neighboroods like Alfama, Chiado and Bairro Alto. We did all the touristy things in Lisbon (the Castle, Chiado, Bairro Alto...) by bus and tram. We would definetely stay here again and recommend it to all our friendsOwner response: Thank you for your review. I am very pleased you enjoyed your stay in my apartment. I hope you will be back soon!

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, families with young children, age 55+.
Owner response: Muito obrigada pelos seus comentarios. E um prazer recebe-los sempre na minha casa em Lisboa. Melhores cumprimentos, Dina

The apartment itself was lovely...a renovated flat with new furniture and amenities. The property location description was inaccurate. The location is a 20 minute cab ride to the center of town. Luckily, we found a bus that one block away...however, it still took us in excess of 30 minutes to reach the center of town. This is a working-class neighborhood that is not easy to find on a map or by a cab driver. We made the best of the location inconveniences during our three day stay.Owner response: Dear Barbara, Thank you for your review. I am glad you found the apartment lovely and enjoyed it. I am not sure why you state that the property location was inaccurate. In my ad I clear state that the apartment is in the Ajuda/ Belem neighborhood, a monument packed neighborhood. From my apartment you can walk 5-6 minutes to Palace of Ajuda or Jardim Botanico in Calcada da Ajuda or 15 -30 minutes to Palacio de Belem, the Coaches Museum, CCB, Maritime Museum, the Planetarium, the Tropical Agriculture Garden and a lot more other attractions by the river. The area is known by being the historical district of the Age of Discovery. Any map (i.e. google) shows the exact location and all the monuments. It seems you missed all there is to be enjoyed in the area. I am sorry for that and wished you had contacted me for more information. All the best, Dina
