Beaconsfield house description

An elegant, 5 bedroom detached house, built in the Georgian style (sleeps 10-12). Conveniently located for easy access to London, Oxford, Royal Windsor, Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon and the beautiful areas of the Chiltern Hills and Cotswolds, with typical English towns and villages.

This house, with over one acre garden, is 12 minutes walk from Beaconsfield railway station and town centre with shops, English pubs and restaurants. It is only a 35 minute train journey to central London. Beaconsfield is a historic market town on the old coach route from London to Oxford, with many buildings from the 16th and 17th century. It is famous for having the oldest pub in England, “The Royal Standard of England.” Bekonscot, a model village that delights children and adults alike, is a local attraction.

The house is well set back from the road, with a large, leafy driveway. The front door opens into an elegant hallway with a downstairs cloakroom and a coat cupboard. A large living room (32 x 14 feet) is furnished in a classical English house style, with comfortable settees and armchairs, mirrors, works of art and antique pieces. It is equipped with a TV/DVD and music centre. In winter months the open fire (log effect gas fire) enhances the atmosphere. Other ground floor reception rooms are a formal dining room with an antique open fireplace, and a TV room that opens directly into the garden. The eat-in kitchen is fully equipped and has a breakfast table.

On the first floor there are three large double bedrooms. The master bedroom with a king size double bed has a marble en-suite bathroom, with bath and shower. This bedroom has wonderful views over the vast garden. The other two bedrooms on this floor share a family bathroom. On the second floor there are two further bedrooms; one with a double bed and one with two single beds. A large galleried landing area is contains a futon bed, which can sleep a further two people, making total accommodation for 12. The second floor has its own attractive bathroom with a bath and a separate shower.

The house is surrounded by a large, secluded garden of over one acre, which is mainly lawn, flowerbeds and mature trees. The patio is equipped for outdoor eating and has a gas barbecue. The garden provides ample space for children to play and for adults to relax.

One wing of the house is occupied as a separate self contained apartment, not for the use of the guests. The garden is for the exclusive use of the guests in the main house. The front driveway is shared with the self contained apartment, but there is ample parking space for everyone.

The railway station is 12 minutes walk and there are regular trains to central London (journey time 35 minutes). Oxford is 35 minutes by car and Windsor, with its famous Windsor Castle where the Queen still lives, is just 25 minutes away. Shakespeare’s town of Stratford-upon-Avon is 1 hour 20 minute drive. Within easy reach are Regents Park Zoo in central London and Chessington World Adventure, a zoo and theme park. Also easily accessible are Legoland, Thorpe Park theme park and Woburn Abbey Safari Park, all popular attractions. There are numerous historic buildings that are open to the public, such as Chenies Manor, a 15th century house with a gorgeous garden, both open to visitors.

The house is also ideally positioned for those who wish to attend Ascot and Epsom horse races, Henley Regatta, Dorney rowing lake and various premier league football and rugby events in London. It is also close to the famous private schools of Eton, Harrow and Wycombe Abbey.

                The house exceeded our expectations. Spacious and charming, it was perfect for our family of 12 (3 generations). The children enjoyed playing in the large garden, and the patio was the gathering spot for the family each evening. It was just a 12 minute walk to the rail station with frequent service to London Marylebone; and the M40 provided access for day trips to Windsor and other attractions. There were also several shops and restaurants within walking distance. The owners were very helpful and paid particular attention to detail to ensure our pleasant stay.

                Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

                We are a family of 6. Twin 12 year old girls and two boys ages 11 and 13. We traveled to the UK for the olympics for 8 days and stayed at this wonderful mansion. It is only a 10 minute walk to the train station that takes you to the tube system in London in 25 minutes. A cab if you can't walk is about 5 pounds. The town is small and has a few good resturants to eat at. THE HOME is great and the OWNERS are just as great. Very large 1 acre yard for kids to play in or for adults to sit outside in privacy. Very safe! The home was very clean and very large. The kids each had their own bedrooms and we had a lovely King Size master suite that was wonderful. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need and there was plenty of linens. We can't say enough good things about this place. You wont be sorry and the owners are the best. Thanks for a great time.
