Bright, daylight filled, 5th floor apartment is located on Rua Nova do Almada, in CHIADO, has a privilege situation in the heart of the cultural and historical part of the city.
Very close to several museums, operas, theaters and churches. A few minutes walk takes you to the Rossio, in the Baixa, and to the Elevador da Lavra. The other direction, you will reach the Praça do Comércio, which is located in the center of the Portuguese old empire near the river Tejo (Tagus). To go to Sintra you must catch the train at Rossio train station, which is just a short subway trip from Chiado.
Chiado is considered the most beautiful area of historical Lisbon. It was a place of residence of the Portuguese royalty and of the political and cultural elites. Nearby is the theater S. Luis and the opera D. Carlos.
Close to shops, restaurants, cafes, banks, cash machine, public transportation (subway and electric trams) and 24 hour taxi stands, etc.
A little further up on the left is Camões Square (Praça de Camões), next to Bairro Alto, picturesque but raffish; part of Lisbon's nightlife seems to be concentrated in this quarter, which was frequented to hear the sentimental 'fados' sung in certain restaurants and cafés. Chiado and Bairro Alto are "the" meeting point for locals and tourists, with elegant hotels, old cafés, and the best international fashion shops nearby.
Lisbon Sightseeing - It operates both open-top bus tours and tourist trams. Both run from the Praça do Comércio. Bus trips are the 'Circuito Tejo', which goes out to Belém as well as other parts of the city, or the (Expresso Oriente' which visits the Parque das Nações. The tram does the 'Circuito das Colinas' (Hill Circuit) which embraces the 28 route through Alfama.
It also visits Estrela to the west of the city. Whilst costly, the advantage of the tourist tram is the audio guided tour and the fact that you will get a seat and not have to stand. Also, the historic trams are decked out in 'historic' upholstery and fittings. Trams also operate a Circuito dos Descobrimentos to Belém.
Accommodation comprises one bedroom with a king size bed (180 x 200 cm) and 2 futon beds (perfect for children), living room with dining and sitting areas with a sofa bed (170 x 200 cm), one full bathroom and a second small bathroom (no shower) and fully equipped kitchen. The apartment has air-conditioning and heating in all the rooms. This privileged location offers easy access by foot to the subway (Chiado/Baixa station – 50 m).

We were more than surprised at how lovely the apartment was. The pictures are wonderful, but do not do the apartment the justice it deserves. It was spacious, beautiful, the terrace was fantastic and the location was perfect! The amenities and location exceeded our expectations in every way. Paulo greeted us upon our arrival and was extremely helpful to us throughout our stay. He and Sylvia took care of everything we could think of and made our stay a most memorable one. We will definitely return to this wonderful, beautiful city and this apartment.

This was a perfect place for my friends and I to stay in Lisbon. The apartment was wonderful, clean, huge, with great amenities. They made sure we were comfortable and were very responsive when we had trouble with the heating, even sending a technician out to fix it. The only issue I would say we had was the lighting in the living room was quite low, we had to light candles just to have enough light to see by for dinner! But otherwise, everything was great with the stay, and we loved the apartment-- would move there if we could!

We arrived in Lisbon and were amazed at this spacious well appointed apartment. It's on the top floor, with elevator, of a centrally located apartment building. It had absolutely everything we needed to make our stay in Lisbon perfect.The gorgeous windows and balcony surround the apartment and reveal views of the river, city and nearby St George's Castle. It's a short walk to metro, buses and trains and a block to great shopping, restaurants and pastelarias. Owner Paulo has made sure that the apartment is equipped with everything you could need and then some. He and Silvia are always ready to answer questions and make sure you are totally happy.We would highly recommend this apartment to anyone travelling to Lisbon. We hope to return and we would definitely hope to stay there again.

My wife and I stayed at this property for a week in late January early February. It was as advertised and an absolute delight to wake up in and come back to every day. It was even roomier than the pictures showed and it could easily have slept six people. The location could not be better, a two-three minute walk to the nearest Metro or tram 28 and five minutes downhill to Rossio square. There are plenty of good restaurants nearby and even in January there were lots of people sitting outside. The view of St. Jorge castle from the living room windows lit up at night seemed so Lisbon. Paulo was also great to deal with, both in booking and when we got there. He met us at the agreed upon time and took the time to carefully go through all of the apartments features and point out some suggested places to go. When we said we planned on going to Evora for a day he emailed us information on the train schedule and how to best get to the station. If we return to Lisbon there is no doubt staying at this apartment would be our first choice. As for Lisbon, you will have a great time if you go. English is spoken everywhere and people were very friendly. There are more than enough sites and day trips to fill a long week. We particularly enjoyed Sintra (tip: if you have a Lisboa Card the train fare is covered).

I thought the photos looked great, but I did not expect this apartment to be better than I thought! It is huge, spacious, airy, and bright--with a "wraparound" balcony and views of the river and castle. There were five of us (adults), and we had more than enough room to breathe. The amenities are contemporary, and the kitchen is the best one we've seen in all the apartments we've rented through VRBO. And the location could not be better--close to shops, the metro, grocery, cafes and restaurants, and churches (for a good cup of joe, try A Brasileira, right across the Baixa-Chiado metro exit--from the apartment, turn left, then left again on the first street). Silvia was very accommodating and informative, and she made it truly a personal experience for all of us. Without any hesitation, we will stay here again!

The photographs do not adequately portray the spaciousness and grandeur of this inner city apartment.My husband and I stayed there with our adult daughter for 5 days in October. The owners were incredibly helpful allowing us to move in early and checkout late as well as providing helpful information about restaurants and sites. The apartment is the best equipped I have experienced using VRBO with an extensive array of crockery,cutlery and kitchen appliances. Both the bedroom and lounge/dining room are huge and there are 8 double doors leading on to the balcony which surrounds the apartment.It is a delight to wake up looking out over the harbour on one side and the castle on the other. The apartment is in an excellent location just on the edge of Lisbon's central retail area and there are plenty of restaurants close by and a Metro stop is about 50 metres away. I cannot imagine a better place to stay in this beautiful city.

We were late arriving, but Paolo still met us at the apartment with a smile. The apartment itself was very nice with a balcony that extended the entire length on 2 sides, several doors that open to the balcony, fully equipped kitchen with high-end appliances, and a very spacious master suite. The location is unbeatable as it is right in the middle of all the action in the center of Lisbon and there is a metro stop only 1 block away. We would definitely stay in this apartment again and would highly recommend it to other travelers.
