Soda Springs cabin description
Built in 2000 with 2800 sq. ft., Serena Creek was designed as a family retreat. Serene Lakes was chosen because of its old-fashioned family friendly mountain community and slower pace of mountain living. Serene Lakes is named for the 2 snowfed lakes that provide us with year round recreation. To take advantage of the spectacular views, the cabin is set back from the street and built on several levels. Entrance is through the entry or 2 car garage in winter weather. The first level has the creekside bedroom with deck to the creek and the mountainside bedroom with views out back of the mountain and Royal Gorge property. These bedrooms share an ample bath with utility room for drying wet ski clothes, etc. The main level has the kitchen and great room. This level has an ample deck along the complete front of the cabin. Next level has the master suite built so you can see the lake while reading in bed. It has its own deck, office and bath with shower and jacuzzi. This level also has a guest bathroom.
The top level is the loft with the double bed alcove, trundle bed and all the electronics....TV, VCR, stereo and DVD, puzzles and games plus amazing views from many windows.
3 ski resorts are within 15 minutes with Soda Springs close enough you can come home for lunch. Royal Gorge, the largest cross country resort in the US is a few blocks away and you can cross country ski on the lake. At 6200 feet, we have the best snow in the Sierras.
Our cabin features a fabulous BBQ and well equipped kitchen, but if you don't want to cook, the Ice Lakes Lodge is just down the street.
Whether you want to be active or just relax, the Serena Creek Retreat will more than meet your expectations and just might be your year after year must-do experience.

We have stayed at this cabin three times over the past two years. Two of the three times have been during the winter months. There is a lot of snow which is great for building snowmen, digging caves, and sliding down the hill behind the cabin. The kids have a wonderful time playing in the snow and getting completely tired out...it's great! During the summer, we have hiked all over, played at the beach, and paddled around the lake. Our family loves this cabin and we will definitely return.

Many Visits Over Many Years and So Many Wonderful Memories
Many Visits Over Many Years and So Many Wonderful Memories
I have had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful and spacious home for over 10 years. The views are spectacular and the home itself is warm, spacious, extremely well furnished and welcoming. If you're going to stay anywhere in the Lake Tahoe area for winter skiing or summer swimming and boating, this is the one place you want to stay. The walks around Serene Lakes are breathtaking and beautiful. One of the most memorable images I keep to this day is an early morning view from the Master Bedroom which looks out over Serene Lakes - the mountains in the background and the pine trees in the foreground are dusted with snow, and a small flock of Canada Geese are pushing off from the beach, every so slowly making their way across the lake, leaving ripples of water in their wake. I strongly recommend that you stay here and create your own beautiful images and memories.

Beautiful House with all the comforts of a 4 star resort. It's close to several ski resorts ( 10 minutes from Sugar Bowl, Donner & Boreal Ridge) & cross county ski trails ( Royal Gourge). In the summer the lake and beach area is directly across the street and hikeing trails are behind the cabin. Also across the street is The Ice Lakes Lodge for cocktails and a meal if you don't feel like cooking. The house itself is immaculate with all the ammenities you could ask for, I highly reccomend staying here for a fun trip!

About the owner: We are a family of 5 adults and two grandchildren....so far. We love the outdoors from playing in the lake, to sitting on the beach, hiking to skiing, mountain climbing to shopping. We love sharing wonderful meals together, playing games and just hanging out. We love to travel together but can not imagine not having some place close to the Bay Area to call our own. PS the picture is my granddaughter shoveling the deck at the front of the cabin.
Why the Owner Chose Soda Springs:
In 1994 we were looking for something unique to call our own in our love, the Sierra Nevada mountains...some place where our kids could roam and play and we would feel they were safe. This is truly the hidden gem of the Sierras, close to winter sports, loaded with summer activities but within 3 hours of the Bay Area. What we did not know when we purchased in Serene Lakes, how valuable it is to be on the west side of Donner Summit as we can avoid chain controls set up outside of Truckee in winter and traffic from Tahoe City in the summer. We have hiked to many lakes, biked, rafted, kayaked, skied, snowboarded, tubed, thrown too many snowballs to count and had great fun going to sports events at UNR in Reno and enjoying Raging Waters there in the summer. There are been many joys and sorrows at Circus Circus and Hot August Nights is a yearly gas. The memories we have created since coming to Serene Lakes for the first time in 1994, then building our present cabin in 2000, are too incredible to describe and we invite you to start your own memories here. We look forward to sharing Serene Lakes and the Serena Creek Retreat with you.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
We ski, swim, hike, snow shoe, relax and enjoy the community activities. Fish and Tadpoles beware! The cabin tour held during Labor Day weekend is something we never miss. We enjoy family meals and sharing the experiences of the day. Holidays spent here have been and will continue to be, lifelong memories.
