Junction Park is a centrally located vacation site on 75 acres of natural beauty with a view of two running streams and garden. It is a perfect retreat to relax and unwind and is just a short drive south of Birmingham and less than five miles from I-65. It is conveniently located yet secluded with a private quarter mile driveway off US 31 with a privacy gate. Nature trails, shaded grounds, garden, and fishing make this a special place to visit and reflect on simple pleasures. Relax on the wrap around porch and listen to the running water or enjoy a quiet walk in the woods. Junction Park offers three very comfortable sized bedrooms with a view and a spacious common room with fireplace and water/wood view. Rustic decor with many 'one of a kind' antiques will bring back an era of yerteryears. Each bedroom has full baths with claw foot tubs. Upstair bedroom has 900 sq. ft. with spectular view. A big screen TV is located in the great room and bedroom. This area is rich in history, small town charm, and Southern hospitality but a short drive to larger towns, Birmingham and Prattvile. History buffs will enjoy the Confederate Memorial Park and local attractions. The Peach Park and restaurant is just up the road. Deer viewing is very commonplace on the property.

For my daughter's sweet sixteen party I was looking for a place to host 6 teenage girls. I could not have been happier with the choice. From the moment the gate opened and we drove down the long driveway I knew it was the perfect place. Pictures do not do this wonderful property justice. The creeks are breath taking. The rooms are very large and decorated beautifully. The antiques were amazing. I would highly recommend this property to anyone. We definitely hope to go back!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, people with disabilities.
Owner response: Thank you very much!

This place was awesome!!!! Loved the area and the serene surroundings. Great place for a family reunion or just a getaway for the family to get connected again. There is plenty of wildlife (deer, birds, and raccoon at the waters edge) to see and the landscape was great. Will return. It is so much more than the pictures show!!! I would recommend this house to anyone! The owners were so accommodating and helpful, even left us sweet rolls. Very easy to find with the directions that the owners sent us. Felt very safe and secure!!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We absolutely love Junction Park! The streams are picturesque, and the sounds of the running water make it such a peaceful place. The porch is a perfect place for family meals outside or to just relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The house is comfortable, and was well stocked for our needs. Even when we had a summer storm, we all enjoyed the sounds of the rain on the metal roof. The adults loved the peace and quiet, and the children and adults alike loved splashing around and skipping rocks in the streams. We plan to return as often as possible.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, people with disabilities, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you for your good review. We are so happy when our guests enjoy their stay at Junction Park. We are blessed to talk with and occasionally meet extremely nice people. Please come and visit with us soon and create your own special memories.

Have vacationed all over the u.s. and never been somewhere so peaceful..the stress melts away instantly. The owners are extremely nice and overly accomodating. Junction Park is an absolutely beautiful place to stay! From the moment you punch in the code at the electronic gate, and wind your way down the quarter mile private driveway, you know this is a special place. The chalet style house sets in postcard-perfect natural beauty that features gardens, trees, and rustic decor, all in view of a canyon where two wide streams meet. The sound of the water is the first thing you hear in the morning the morning and the last thing you hear at night. The beautiful home is fabulously decorated in unique antiques, while boasting every modern convenience. Steve & Jan Thomas stocked their well appointed home with everything you need, from soap to coffee, and even left cinnamon rolls on the counter for us. I have stayed at many VRBO properties and this one by far is the best. I was grateful to stay at Junction Park for 4 days and hated leaving. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends, or to stay there again!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you so very much for your wonderful review! We are really happy when our guests have an enjoyable stay and they want to come back. We strive to make Junction Park a place to remember. We greatly appreciate and are humbled by your response and hope that we'll see you again in the future.

Every year, since our parents passed away, my brothers and I along with our families all come together for a weekend of family fun during the Christmas season. We all live in different cities in the southeast so we are always looking for a central spot. This year we were so blessed to have found Junction Park! We all loved it! The home is just lovely and the grounds are perfect. Thankfully the weather was great while we were there so everyone enjoyed exploring the surrounding woods were we spotted several deer. The home is open and spacious with plenty of room for a large group. The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped; we cooked a full Christmas dinner without any problems. I would recommend Junction Park to anyone who is looking for a peaceful spot to get away from it all. The photos do not do justice to capture the beauty of this property. It was very clean and so well cared for; I was so proud to show the place I had found to my family. The owners are such sweet people and so helpful! You can tell they have poured their hearts into this home and property.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review. We want our guests to feel comfortable and want to come back to Junction Park. God has blessed us with a beautiful place and we are looking forward to sharing it with others.

The pictures just don’t do it justice. The views from the deck, the living area and the upstairs loft are beautiful. If you come bring a fly rod the streams look very fishable. We found crawfish in the creek, rabbits on the trails, birds of all types in the trees and a deer by the drive. The property is very secure behind the electric gate and the quiet is only interrupted by the wind in the trees and the water in the streams. First rate appliances in the kitchen and a gas fireplace make JP one of the best VRBO’s we have rented. The backup generator is a very nice upgrade and the tank less hot water heater is an excellent idea with 5 adults and 2 kids showers and running the dishwasher we always had hot water. FYI the bathrooms are like the “Old Days” in the country right in the room no walls around them. So come with “close” friends. Wasn’t an issue for the wife and I but my Sister in Law had a tough time getting over it. I couldn’t believe when she said as we are leaving “Let’s get this place again next year”. So we will be back. The weather was bad when we were arriving for our stay and the owners were so thoughful they called to make sure we made it to the cabin ok and were safe. We called a couple of times to ask question and were answered right away or had return phone calls very quickly. If you’re a civil war buff take a few hours and visit the Alabama Confederate Memorial Park just a few miles down Hwy 31.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

I recently had a business retreat at Junction Park and it was just perfect for what we were looking for. The facility was just great with all modern conveniences. The setting was beautiful with running creeks behind the chalet and the fall colors of the leaves made the setting picturesque. I will definitely use this facility again. Everyone that participated in the retreat gave rave reviews for the chalet and setting. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting a getaway for personal or business purposes.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you so much for your positive response. It is very important to get feedback from our guests. We strive to keep Junction Park a place you will want to visit again and this gives us an opportunity to measure how we are doing. I'm very happy that your stay was enjoyable. Thanks again!

If you are searching for a natural private and secluded "get-a-way" setting for a weekend or week, you simply MUST book this listing! It is tucked away in the Alabama foothills with fabulous free flowing streams with rock waterfalls. Just sit on the wrap-a-round deck in the rockers, swing, or grill outside with the dining tables and listen to the sounds of nature with the free flowing waterfalls. No neighbors for 75 acres. Lots of deer arrive at the streams to drink in early mornings and evenings. I have seen groups of up to seven deer crossing toward the streams for water. Many numerous birds, hawks, owls, eagle, etc make this forest their home. The gardens are georgous in the spring and fall with ample colors. The 35 foot ceilings, ceramic tiles, glass, solid wood walls/beams and fireplace create a "hunting lodge" atmosphere, especially with the two massive deer antler chandleliers. Invite your friends to join you as there is ample room to sleep up to 8 individuals comfortably. I enjoyed hosting small family gatherings (reunions) there as space is ample for parking cars on the quarter mile driveway. You are only 10 minutes from I65. Both Birmingham and Montgomery are easy commutes. I plan to stay there as often as I can to simply "get-a-way" from the city hustle/bustle.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, people with disabilities, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! I sincerely hope our future guests will have the same positive experience at Junction Park. Our desire is to make your visit special . We have fallen in love with Junction Park and I hope you will too. Come and visit us soon.

About the owner: My wife and I are retired and enjoy spending time with our two dobermans, Angus and Chloe. We enjoy antiquing, history, and nature. We put all these things together and came up with Junction Park. It has been a labor of love for us and I hope you will love it too.
Why the Owner Chose Lake Mitchell:
Verbena is a great little town and we fell in love with the property's natural beauty and privacy. It is conveniently located to the interstate and bigger town attractions, but still has the 'get away' appeal. Clanton has a golf course, dining, antiques and open flea market twice a week, and the famous Peach Park. Two large lakes are close to the property.
The Unique Benefits at this Chalet:
You can take your shoes off and walk down the running stream, have a picnic on the wrap around porch, or find yourself a secluded spot in the woods to listen to the birds and wildlife. You can ride your bicycle down the quarter mile driveway or take a nature hike in the woods and never leave the property. A privacy gate keeps the grounds secluded. A large BBQ grill is available if you are in the grilling mood with several dining tables available on the porch. There is a flower garden in back of house with arbors and sittings areas for your enjoyment. You might want to enjoy a bath in one of the large antique claw foot tubs and just relax.
