The B-Hive is a turn-of-the-century Victorian home and is perfectly located just steps away from South Haven's beautiful North Beach. The key to this location is that there are no huge hills nor endless staircases to climb when walking to and from the beach. This is an important detail many property owners forget to share when describing the location of their property!!!
Southwestern Michigan has been referred to as the ''Hamptons of the Midwest'' and South Haven is the jewel in the center of this region.
The B-Hive has five (5) bedrooms with three (3) full baths and is the ultimate family retreat. The bedrooms consist of four queen beds and the fifth bedroom has one combination twin trundle bed. All of the rooms are tastefully decorated with antique furniture and reproduction pieces providing a comfortable feel throughout.

New fixtures, finishes and furnishings!!!: The house has been remodeled with new finishes and appliances while maintaining the feel of it's original character and architectural details. The outdoor patio is approximately 400 square feet and is perfect for a barbecue after a relaxing day at the beach. Within walking distance are several excellent restaurants, parks, shops, and the new municipal marina.

Three full baths!!!: We often hear from our guests that previously rented homes that accommodate ten (10) guests with only one or two bathrooms. Do not spend your vacation waiting in line to use the bathroom. The B-Hive has three beautiful bathrooms for your use. Two full bathrooms are located on the first floor and one full bathroom is located on the second floor. The first floor south bathroom is a private en-suite bath dedicated to that bedroom. There is also a 50 gallon, high efficiency, quick recovery hot water heater so the last of your group taking a shower does not have to do so with ice cold water.

Excellent condition. Newer kitchen and bathrooms in a turn of thr century house. Near a fabulous beach and within walking distance (1.5 miles) of downtown. I recommend the "B-Hive".Recommended for: Families with young children.
Owner response: The B-Hive is located in the Historic Monroe Park neighborhood of South Haven Michigan. This historic neighborhood is bordered to the west by the expansive and beautiful North Beach. The house is just south of Avery Street which is at the north end of the North Beach. This location is ideal in that the concession stand is right at the bottom of Avery Street and the top of the beach. The concession stand offers a variety of food, beverages, ice cream as well as public rest rooms and a foot shower. The B-Hive is actually less than one mile to downtown South Haven which is at the intersection of Phoenix and Center Streets. This location is so convenient that once your grocery shopping is completed, you will not need to get back in the car until the dreaded ride home! This is our second stay at the B-hive. The location is perfect as it is very close to North beach without the endless steps, but because it is tucked away off the road still feels secluded. The owners added extra landscaping last year which adds privacy and beauty to the property as well. We had some special circumstances arise prior to our trip that put us in a difficult position. When I called to explain it to the owner he bent over backwards to accomodate us. No hassels. I will definitely be staying here again.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers.

By far my best experience at South Haven with my 2 yr old Son. We were able to walk to the beach and the house is perfect for families with children. Equipped with everything you will need to make a great holiday. I was impressed with how clean the property was and felt comfortable giving my Son the run of the house. It was a safe, affordable, and memorable experience that I hope to have the opportunity to repeat in the future. A great way to stay at the Lake!!!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers.

I was fortunate enough to have found this website when I began my search for an early Summer weekend rental at South Haven. I originally called on a smaller property owned by the Biedermann's that wasn't exactly what we were looking for, rather than losing our business I was swayed toward an AMAZING rate and opportunity to stay at the Bee Hive!! I am so glad that we did. Although we were just a small group of three (two adults and a two year old) the downstairs of the house was perfect for our getaway. Using the amazing two bedrooms and two full baths on the first floor was more than enough room for us, the house could easily accommodate ten. The location was perfect with indoor/outdoor areas at the house for everyone and the ability to come and go to the North Beach (much more secluded and child friendly) only half a block away. I loved taking the baby for walks as it is close to town the marina and the playground. Entertaining was easy and the house is well stocked with all the cooking and cleaning needs necessary. The house and property are clean and well maintained by the owners and it was a breeze working with them. I would recommend this rental to any party of ten or less looking to have an amazing time at the Lake.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

Just returned from a long weekend at the B-Hive. There were 10 of us (8 adults, 2 kids) and we were not too cramped. Plenty of space to hang out and relax. Both living room and dining room could accommodate our entire group at one time. The house was well stocked with games, cooking implements, etc. Basically we had all we needed! Clean and convenient. Definitely recommend it!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

My four sisters and I stayed here for two nights in May. It was before Memorial Day so the rate was low, which made it a great value. Just a couple of blocks from the beautiful beach (no stairs) and about 1/2 mile walk to town. The home is attractive and well maintained. We would definitely stay here again. Beds are double and sleep two only if you are willing to be cozy! The family room is small - fine for adults but more than one or two children might be crowded. Teenagers would enjoy the location a lot. It really was ideal for 5 adults/teens. If couples, you technically could double that but it would be a tight fit; two or three couples is more realistic, despite the number of bedrooms. Kitchen and laundry facilities were great, and there's a small outdoor deck with a grill. If you're persistent you will figure out how to access the internet. The listing was accurate and the owner very nice and helpful.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

We recently stayed 2 nights at the B-Hive with our two small children. It was our first ever vacation rental, so we were a bit nervous, but things went very smoothly! The owner was responsive and accommodating (he was even able to provide a pack and play, high chair and booster). The off-season rate was too good to turn down. The location of this house is pretty amazing: less than a block from a huge sandy beach and walking distance to a marina, a park and the shops and restaurants downtown. The house is huge but still feels cozy. The bathrooms are clean and modern. The rest of the house is sunny, thoughtfully decorated and charming. We had some friends join us for one night and the layout of this house is perfect for multiple families. Downstairs there are two bedrooms, each with a bathroom. Upstairs are 3 more bedrooms and another bathroom. South Haven had a lot to offer with the gorgeous beach, nice downtown, restaurants, walk-ability, etc. - we could definitely see staying a week next time. We hope to return to the B-Hive soon!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

The B-Hive was clean and extremely cute. The bedrooms were adorable and very comfortable and we loved the small porch in the mornings. Easy walk to the beach as well as Captain Lou's and other downtown attractions. The home owner was great to work with and called to make sure everything was up to our expectations, and everything certainly was. We'd definately stay here again.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers.

About the owner: We love South Haven! It is a place that is very special to our family. We have welcomed and said good bye to members of our family on the beach. Our children are the fifth generation in our family enjoying the beautiful beaches of South Haven.
Why the Owner Chose South Haven:
We are parents of four young children. We wanted a beach house to escape from the hustle and bustle and focus on family. Historic Monroe Park is the neighborhood that is directly adjacent to the North Beach. The key to this location is there are no huge hills nor endless staircases to climb up and down when going to and from the beach. Kind of an important thing to remember with small children and grandparents who want to join you down at the waters edge.
