Area
Dining is not a problem here in this area as there are many restaurants within walking distance to the property. Bar Harbor offers free transportation to the park, etc. on the L.L.Bean Buses that leave the Village Green daily at various time. Christmas in Bar Harbor
Christmas in Bar Harbor

We spent our Christmas holiday in this comfortable town home. It was great to have all the conveniences of home -- full, very well-equipped kitchen, laundry, two bathrooms. Our hostess was extremely welcoming and provided many helpful recommendations for dining, shopping and other activities. The home is spotlessly clean and furnished with comfortable, homey furniture; even the linens were luxurious. The location is great with easy walking access to restaurants, shops, grocery store, YMCA. In any season, you'd be very happy with a stay here.Owner response: Thank-you Nancy and David for a great review! It was great having you next door over Christmas. Your little tree and the decorations added to what I had put out. I am glad you had a chance to take advantage of our YMCA. I know you was hoping for a little snow, but at least you were able to get out and explore places on the other side of the Island that you had never done. I hope someday you will consider coming back and staying here again. I will do my best to make you as comfortable as you were this time. It was nice to meet both of you. Thanks for leaving my place in great shape. Happy New Year to both of you ! DeeDee

This property is in a great location close to grocery, restaurants and town. The house is equipped with everything you would need plus things you would not expect it to have. It is very comfortable and immaculate. Also supplied were restaurant menus, brochures, and books on the area which was a nice touch. Dee Dee was very easy to work with and checked in on us to make sure we had everything we needed.Recommended for: Girls getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

The Jilek family from Sydney, Australia spent 4 relaxing days in this charming home in Bar Harbor. Everything was accurately described, the kitchen well-equipped, and the property clean and well-maintained. DeeDee was the perfect hostess - just a phone call away if we needed anything. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone who wants a home away-from home in Bar Harbor. It is in an unbeatable location -- close to shops, restaurants, the supermarket and just a stone's throw from the Park's entrance. We loved canoeing on Long Pond, cycling the carriageway and shopping on Main Street. Hopefully we can visit again some day!Owner response: Acadia/BarHarbor offers visitors many choices while visiting the area. It is great that you shared some of the things you enjoyed doing while here. Usually a week is never enough time. An important thing to me is that you have a comfortable place to go to at the end of your day. I'm happy you were comfortable in my place. Thanks for staying here. Dee Dee

We have stayed at this rental for four consecutive years. We keep coming back because it is very comfortable, attractively furnished, immaculately clean, and has a wonderful location near everything in the town of Bar Harbor. The owner, DeeDee, is very helpful and also very nice. She has provided everything you could possibly need. You will love staying here!Owner response: Thank you for another positive review. I look forward to you returning each year. Just the fact that you always come back tells me that you are happy with everything here and in our beautiful area ! I think we can agree that there is so much to see and do here. Even if one is not into the hiking or biking there is so much to take in with the natural beauty and the unique little towns that are close to Bar Harbor. Shopping, eating out of just for a ride you can't go wrong when you visit this area. Thanks again for returning each year. DeeDee

This townhome was amazing. Immaculate, comfortable and unexpected extras were provided by DeeDee. We were right in BarHarbor and rather than drive we walked 10 minutes to shops, restaurants and in-town sites. We were just a few minutes from the grocery store. The kitchen had everything to make a breakfast meal or a nice dinner - there was also a big grill and picnic table in the yard. We went on picnics all over the island - coolers, binoculars and camp chairs were some of the unexpected extras in the house. DeeDee makes herself available if there should be any problems or concerns, and, she provided lots of information on the area and lots of ideas on what to see and do - rain or shine. We saw the quiet side of the island and the hub of the island, we went to the Schoodic Penninsula, we went star gazing on top of Cadillac Mountain one clear-cool night, we canoed on Long Pond, we biked the carriage trails and had a delicicious lunch (with popovers) at Jordon Pond. Every day was jam packed and each night we got to come home to the perfect place to relax. This townhome is nicely situated in a quiet residental area and is the perfect spot to stay!!! Our thanks to DeeDee for ensuring each of her guests "a memorable vacation and a comfortable home to spend it in"!!!!Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, families with young children, age 55+.
Owner response: Hi, I appreciate your positive comments about my place. It is important to me that I provide a nice place for my guests to stay. I take a lot of pride in getting it ready after someone leaves. I am glad that you mentioned some of the things you did while here. Acadia has a lot to offer, especially if you have never been this way before. It is a beautiful place and my hope is that my guests leave here with good memories. ( A nice place to stay and the fun they had while visiting our National Park). I hope someday you will be able to return. The colors are beautiful in the fall ! Thanks again for booking with me. DeeDee

Everything was great. The house is very clean and is well equipped. There is more than enough towels and the kitchen met all our needs. Walking to center of Bar Harbor is easy. Definitely would return. Owner response: Hi Leddy and family, Thanks for taking time to do a review for my website. The day of the wedding the weather started out a little uncertain but cleared so that was a plus. I am glad everyone had a great time and found my place to be comfortable and an easy location to get to town without taking your car. Hope to see some of you back another time for another vacation. House was wonderful! Walking distance to all the marvelous restaurants and cute shops in town. A very short drive to Acadia National Park! EVERYTHING in the house was clean and functional...a true home away from home. Couldn't ask for anything more! DeeDee offered suggestions for eateries and activities. Lots of fun! Thanks!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, families with young children, age 55+.
Owner response: Dear Sandy and Ginger, It seems like you just got here and the week is over. From all you told me and seeing some of your pictures, I would say you had a great time. I am glad your friends could join you. (DeeDee & Larry). Hopefully, you can get back this way and maybe stay longer. There is always plenty to do and see in the area and especially in the park. It was nice meeting all of you ! Thanks again for deciding on my place to stay ! DeeDee

The house was well-maintained and spotlessly clean. The location, on a quiet side street was perfect for visiting the center of Bar Harbor as well as touring Acadia and Mt. Desert Island. The house is in walking distance of the town center, the harbor and the Island Explorer buses(in case you don't want to drive.) The hospitality shown by the owner was warm and welcoming. The house had all the amenities like cable TV, DVD player, VCR and even a dishwasher. It was all we could ask for. We ate out a lot and our favorite restaurant turned out to be the Side Street Cafe on Rodick St. The atmosphere was casual and the food was delicious and prepared with care, especially the lobster stew. We would definitely stay here again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, families with young children, age 55+.
Owner response: Hi Jessica/Bob I'm glad you had such a good time here. Knowing that you were comfortable in the rental and happy with the location makes me happy. It was nice meeting both of you ! Glad you took my suggestion and tried Side Street Cafe. Yummy ! Thanks for the nice write up and if I can help you in the future with a vacation rental let me know. I would be more then happy to work with you. DeeDee

When we (family of 6) were planning our stay in Bar Harbor, we noticed the excellent reviews of DeeDee's place - almost too good to be true. We were not at all disappointed! The property was very, very well maintained; kitchen and appliances were great and we felt very much at home. DeeDee was very thoughtful and helped us feel comfortable - even bringing over some delicious homemade bread which went down in no time! Location was superb, being able to walk to main street in less than 10 minutes. We hope to be back next summer! Thanks so much DeeDee!Owner response: Hello David and family, Thanks so much for the nice write up. Glad you enjoyed your visit to Acadia. You did some daring things when you were here, rock climbing would not of been my choice ! I am sure you saw some nice sights once you reached the top of wherever, but it would not be for me !! I know the kids said it was great fun. Good for you !! Hopefully, you will get to visit the area again and that you will consider staying at my place while here. I will do my best to make sure you are just as comfortable the next time as you were this time. Thanks again for choosing my place. It was a pleasure meeting you. DeeDee

My family chose Bar Harbor because I read you could be one of the first to see the sun rise from Cadillac Mountain. When visiting a town you've never been, that is 15 hours from home, you want to ensure that the place you choose is clean, comfortable and convenient to the sites. We were so blessed to have found this cottage. DeeDee was not only the person I sent my check to, but she answered multiple emails from me prior to the trip with questions about the sites, the best time to get to Cadillac Mtn., the weather, places to go with the kids, etc. While there she checked in via email a couple times and offerred a few more recommendations, all of which were right on target! I also appreciate how accessible she was when we locked ourselves out of the cottage on the 4th of July. She answered immediately, had a solution and we were in the cottage within 5 minutes of my call. The only surprise we had was that the cottage had no AC. Coming from VA, which had temps over 100 degress with a heat index of 114 before leaving, we almost panicked when we arrived and saw there was no central air. However, DeeDee assured us that the temperatures would cool off at night and gave us a tip for keeping it cool during the day. We all stayed cool and slept great! I also realized that hardley any of the places there have AC - there really isn't a need b/c the temperatures are so great during the summer! My kids are 5 and 7 and our whole family felt this was the best vacation we've ever had (and my kids have been to Disney!). The town is so charming, the people are extremely friendly and the scenery is breathtaking. We look forward to returning!Owner response: Dear Brandy and family, I can well imagine how you felt seeing no AC. in my rental when you arrived, especially when you came from such heat in the south !! I am glad that my tips helped keep it cool and that you were comfortable the whole time when inside !! I I know that you saw a lot while here but also know there is plenty of other things that you would of liked to of done, but maybe next time. The vacations go to fast especially when you are really enjoying yourself ! I hope in the future you can come back and check out Diver Ed's tour. I am sure the kids would like that. (Amoung other things) Aren't you glad you extended your stay and was able to be here on the 4th of July ?? ! I know you said you enjoyed the fireworks, etc. Take care, enjoy the rest of the summer and when you can come back I hope you check out my place for availability. You are always welcome ! Thanks for the great write up ! DeeDee
