Welcome to Hale O' Punalu'u! This 3,300 square foot 4 bedroom, 4 bath home is the perfect Hawaiian beach getaway for you and your loved ones. Located on the northeast side of O'ahu, enjoy the local charm and serenity of this gorgeous quiet setting, perfect for fishing, snorkeling, kayaking, stand-up paddling, yard games or just relaxing. A perfect place for your next family retreat!
Wake up to an awesome sunrise and have a morning yoga session in the backyard or walk down the beach and jump right into the crystal clear waters of Punalu’u. Spend the afternoon snorkeling the reef protected waters or sit back and soak up some rays while watching the local fishermen reel in dinner. This idyllic beach is one of the quiet gems of O’ahu.
An expansive 560 square feet, the open-floor living room/dining room area is a great place for spending quality time. Kick your feet up in front of the entertainment system equipped with a flat-screen TV, basic cable, DVD/CD player, stereo system and plenty of board games. Meals can be served on the dining room table which expands to comfortably accommodate 8-10. The sliding glass door from the living room to the lanai allows for overflow entertainment as well as brunch by the sea or dining under the stars.
The open kitchen is complete with all the cooking utensils and tools that you need to prepare the catch of the day or your own favorite recipe. Household staples (paper goods, soaps and cooking essentials) are provided to avoid having to stock up on basics for your stay. With generous counter space passing through to the living area, as many as six can comfortable be served at the counter. Best of all, the cook has an ocean view!
Perhaps the most breathtaking feature of this home is the 650 square foot second floor master bedroom suite includes a queen-size bed, desk, seating area, walk-in closet, a large private bathroom, and private lanai. With a 270 degree view, the lanai of the “captain’s suite” gives you the sensation of standing on the bow of an ocean-liner.
The second master bedroom known as the “green room”, also located on the second floor has a queen-size bed, large closet, and a private bathroom.
Downstairs, you will find two generously-sized mountain-facing bedrooms: one with a queen-sized bed, while the other furnished with two twin beds is perfect for children or singles. Both downstairs bedrooms feature lofts with screened skylights and built-in ladders (especially enjoyed by the kids). Each of these bedrooms is situated next to its own full bathroom, one of which has direct access from outside, making it easy for beach goers.
Punalu'u is a 45 minute drive to downtown Honolulu. So if you need a fix of nightlife, it’s a beautiful coastal drive down Kamehameha Highway. Continuing in the north direction from the house, drive to the historic town of old Haleiwa and watch the monster winter surf of the world-famous beaches of Waimea Bay, Pipeline, and Sunset.
Within 20 minutes drive in either direction, you have access to a wide array of activities that include: horseback riding, ATV rides, gun range, paintball, miles of hiking trails, scuba diving, surfing, movie set tours, yoga fitness, spa, access to two golf courses (Kahuku and the world-famous Turtle Bay Golf Course). And close-by, you can visit the Polynesian Cultural Center to experience genuine Polynesian entertainment and traditional Hawaiian food.

My husband an i have rented homes all over the world and i have to say this home was one of the best well equipped!! I've never wrote review until now. We were here for a wedding and there was plenty of room and privacy in this 4bd/4bath home for the 8 of us (6adults & 2 teen age boys) The ocean is with in 100ft with a natural reef, which offers great snorkeling, canoeing or just playing in the ocean. The beach is so quit its almost like you have your own private beach! We sat on the porch watching and listen to the ocean as the boys snorkeled, played in the ocean. We saw all sorts of ocean life even had turtles right off the beach feeding. Convenient location to stores, fishing, attractions. Hank & Nichole are such caring and wonderful people. Thanks again for share your beautiful home, we'll be back!!!Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.

.....wow, It's been 3 months since we were at this wonderful vacation home at a most perfect location on the beautiful north shore on the island of Oahu. First of all, we all live on the island ha! Three families, 5 adults and 5 keikis (children)... I live in a beautiful valley called Palolo...friends live on the top of a mountain called Hawaii Iki (amazing views)....so, where did we go to celebrate my daughter's 11th birthday...Hale O' Punaluu Oceanside Paradise! Key word here is "OCEANSIDE". There are so many vacation homes on this island...to find one on the ocean with a "cul de sac" beach right in front of your yard for this price is simply amazing.....you basically walk out of your home into the yard onto the sand and into the warm, clear, ocean for a swim you will never forget.. Talk about cares falling away like Autumn leaves at fall... so so relaxing, so so peaceful. The sound of the ocean, the wind, the colors of the Hawaiian sky melt into one vibration that massages your innermost soul.. so subtle, gentle yet so powerful. The expression on all the children's faces each morning made the experience so rewarding for me....breakfast and they were gone! Playing took on a new level...building little homes with driftwood on "their" little beach..I mean nobody was there but us! The morning swims were so refreshing you felt it's effect all day long.. We brought our own food, used their clean kitchen and had wonderful meals...simple meals. Everything slowed down, simple, back to kid days sort of.. Yes, I recommend this home to anyone who has respect for the land and it's people as you can feel "the life of the land" is honored by the folks who own and care for this Hale O' Punaluu". Thank You Nicole and Hank! Aloha!Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.

This house is wonderful. We stayed here for a week with 2 kids and 4 adults. The house could easily have accommodated another whole family. The living area was spacious. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. There were plenty of towels. Having the laundry facilities inside the unit was a huge plus. The kids loved the lofts. We enjoyed the games in the unit and had fun playing croquet and boccie ball on the lawn. It was wonderful to have enough space for the kids to run and play. The beach, just steps from the porch, was beautiful and there were even tide pools right there. The place was very clean. Nicole and Hank, the caretakers, checked on us and were very quick to respond to our inquiries, but never intruded on our privacy. We received our full deposit back in a timely manner. I would recommend this house to anyone and hope to stay here again in the future.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers.

We loved this place. I didn't want to leave. The pictures don't do it justice. Our week included getting married and stayed here for the honeymoon. Could not have asked for a better place. Hank and Nicole are wonderful and very helpful. Everything was clean and very well maintained. If you stay over a Sunday there is a farmer's market in Haleiiwa that we enjoyed. Enjoyed stopping at stands along the way for fruits and yummy banana lumpia. The beach was great. Nice and quiet. We're hoping to bring the family. I could not have asked for a better place to stay to celebrate such a wonderful occasion. I hope to be able to return soon and often. Mahalo to Hank and Nicole.Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

What a great time we had during our 7 night stay at Hale O' Punaluu! When I finally met Nicole face to face I felt like we were old friends. Met her mom and sister as well. This home is beautiful and in a great location. I couldn't believe how clear the water was. There were a few rocks scattered about but mostly sandy for swimming. Everything we needed was there. Plenty of beach towels, washer and dryer with detergent, dishwasher and detergent, dishes, bowls, silverware, coffee maker and coffee bean grinder. There was even a basket in every bathroom with sample sizes of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, sunscreen...you name it! Awesome lanai with 2 tables, 4 chairs each and 2 lounge chairs. Lots of bar stools at the bar plus plenty of seating around the dining room table. The master suite upstairs is like a small apartment! (without the kitchen). And the view from there is incredible. Nice ocean breezes and the sound of the ocean to put you to sleep. There is a large gate to close for privacy and security not to mention a security system in the house. Maybe the old recliner could be replaced but all in all, WOW is the word I would use. You can't go wrong renting this home and working with Nicole.Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.

We spent 3 WONDERFUL days at Hale O Punaluu. Inside and out you feel the gracious ease of hawaiian living at it's very best. It was just my husband and myself so we stayed in the very spacious and spectacular master suite upstairs that faces the ocean. For a great nap, or when it's time for bed, with the windows open the light breeze and the sounds of the ocean put you right to sleep. The sunrise view is amazing. We could not get enough of sitting on the adjoining lanai and enjoying watching the ocean and lounging in the cool breeze. The beach is beautiful and private. My husband walked a bit down the beach and had success fishing, while I relaxed in the big hammock in the backyard listening to the waves and getting some sun. The house is very well appointed and very well maintained. All you need is to pick up some groceries at the store which is very close by. Be ready to take advantage of the BBQ grill as we did many times during our stay. Maybe you'll catch some fish you could BBQ? We are already thinking about our next visit, but next time we'll bring along some friends who could enjoy it like we did as there are so many other lovely bedrooms available to share.Recommended for: Girls getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.

We had the opportunity to spend 2 weeks at this fabulous home (ages 5-90 yrs old). All the comforts of home & it's located on a beautiful Hawaiian beach. We had seen photos, but were even more impressed once we got there. It is well maintained both inside & out. The rooms were all clean & comfortable. We were told we could use anything that was available to us from the very large barbeque grill to the old fashioned hammock. The kitchen is well stocked with pots & pans etc. & all we needed were the groceries (the store was readily available) Pack lightly as you can use the washer & dryer to keep clothes clean. The scenic ride along the ocean shore from the airport was spectacular! The North Shore had so many things to offer without the hustle & bustle of busy Honolulu, but the drive to Honolulu was worth taking to see all the attractions there. If you don't want to drive, the public transportation (bus) goes right by the front of this property. Owner was very helpful with home & airport info as well as things to do & see. Would recommend Germaines Luau-food was great & entertainment was exceptional. The Crouching Lion has good food & karaoke on Thursday night. The North Shore has several beautiful beaches for swimming & surfing. Would recommend sea turtle watching, Sharks Cove for snorkeling, Haliewa Joes & Spaghetinni's for eating, Matsumotos for shaved ice & Giovanni's for shrimp. It is said that Hawaii is paradise on earth-well this vacation home made it more so. Vacationing in Hawaii had always been a dream, now that dream has come true & staying at this home added to the beauty of the whole vacation. More personal & private than staying at a hotel & we felt more economical too! We have recommended this to several other family members & friends & will continue to do so. We will definitely be vacationing in Hawaii again & look forward to staying at this home. Only drawback-WE HAD TO LEAVE!!!!! ALOHARecommended for: Girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers.
