We stayed just over a week in the penthouse flat - and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The flat is just as described - spacious, bright, clean and well equipped. We really appreciated things such as the tea and coffee in the kitchen, and the toiletries in the bathroom. The bed is really comfortable. The location is fantastic - Belsize Park is such a nice area. The tube station is a 5 minute walk, and there are several restaurants, cafes and shops (including a supermarket) nearby. You can walk to Hampstead in about a half hour, or go in the opposite direction to Camden Town in 45 minutes. I really could not fault the location. Many reviewers mention the owner - Carol-Anne - and I have to do the same! She is a lovely lady, very welcoming, friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend staying here - we loved it so much that we are seriously thinking about returning next year!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car.

My husband and I have now stayed in both flats at Carol-Anne's Black and White House in London, and we can recommend both units. The flats are spacious, clean and uncluttered, with wonderful light and nice amenities including free wi-fi, premium TV channels, and laundry. The hostess is both knowlegeable and helpful. Located a block from the Belsize Park Underground stop on the Northern Line, all London attractions are an easy tube ride away. We particularly enjoyed being in a location that is surrounded by a number of neighborhood commercial clusters that feature a variety of good restaurants, pubs, public parks, and shopping experiences. We look forward to staying at the Black and White House on our next trip to London and will time our visit with the availability of either flat. It's a comfortable and safe place to come home to.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+.

Such a lovely property in a beautiful neighborhood. We felt really cared for by Carol-Anne's mate who checked us in and made sure we had what we needed. Plus she was available via email for some great advice concerning high tea! The neighborhood was fantastic, shops, cafes, restaurants, easy access to the tube and to the bus which will take you everywhere!! Get an oyster card and get up on that double decker people!!! The beds were super cozy, the shower was a dream (and when I say dream I am singing it) and the kitchen was perfect for making tea and eggs for breakfast before hitting the streets to see the sights. Just a couple of area notes, there's a grocery around the corner that has a post office inside for sending post cards, very convenient! And a 5 minute walk up or down the local drag will get you to a couple of good pubs with lively patrons. And the bakery just beyond the grocery is really good and they do an afternoon tea that's quite nice. Thanks Carol-Anne and Jane!!! Hope to return soon!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

I stayed at Carol-Anne's for four days with my older teenage son. I could not have been more pleased. The location is a half block from a tube station and all of London is easily accessible. The neighborhood [Belsize] is walking distance from Hampstead, which we went to several times for dinner or a pint at the Holly Bush. There are also shops for anything you need in Belsize, as well. The flat we stayed in was very modern, fully equipped, and spotless. It more than met the expectations I had from the web photos. The best part of the stay was Carol-Anne herself. She lives in another flat in the building, and was immediately available to answer questions. She is a very gracious individual, and a pleasure to meet. I would wholeheartedly recommend this owner and this property for anyone seeking comfortable accommodations away from the center.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Hi Michael, It was a pleasure to welcome you back to the 'hood! Hope to see you again soon. All the best. Carol-anne

We thoroughly enjoyed staying in this spacious , well equipped studio apartment. The design was exciting, minimalist. The apartment was immaculate, warm and spacious and just right for having family round for drinks during our stay. Location was excellent with the shops and pubs of HAmpstead ( The Wells) and Primrose Hill ( The Engineer) nearby.. We even took the long walk to Carnaby street via the lions in Regents Park! We would definitely use this apartment again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks Elizabeth, I admire your energy! Carol-anne

I had the loveliest stay at the Black & White house in London. The furnishings are so stylish and comfortable, and the neighborhood is perfect. I felt like I was really living in London, going to the organic market at the corner at night, and being able to cook in the perfectly equipped kitchen Carol-Anne has designed. I had some friends over for cocktails, and everyone was impressed. I will certainly stay here anytime possible when in London. Carol-Anne and her staff are incredible hosts.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

A spacious, beautiful room in a quiet leafy neighbourhood: staying here makes you feel like a Londoner from the moment you put your suitcases down. The area is great, the owner most helpful and all that for a price that is also wonderful for London. I am sure to be back, soon.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We stayed in the Black and White House during the London summer Olympics. We loved the location, close to nice shops, restaurants and the Underground. The B&W House was beautifully clean and nice. We were thankful to the owner for equipping the kitchen with staples that our family needed. She was so helpful with her knowledge of the area. The arrangements were perfect for our family of 5, including 3 small children. I would highly recommend this property to anyone!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with young children.
Owner response: Hi Chris, Allyson and all! was lovely having you here, come back soon. Carol-anne
