Wonderful and Comfortable
Wonderful and Comfortable
Pura Vida house is a great place to get comfortable and relax. It's offset from the crazy tourism of Tamirindo, but really easily accessible. There is plenty of shade, the porch is delightful, the views of the hills all around the house are beautiful, and the owners are very warm. The housekeeper came just about every day. She'll do your laundry if you like, and she makes a delicious breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice daily. I totally recommend staying at Pura Vida.

Owner response: You and your family were very gracious guests, we truly enjoyed spending a week with you, going to the beaches, hiking, eating ceviche and shrimps everyday, feeding the cattle, playing tennis, etc. Please come again soon so we don't end up with a "chancho" overpopulation in 27 de abril, he he. Warm regards, the Morera Pratzner Family.
Very cool house, incredibly spacious and relaxing!
Very cool house, incredibly spacious and relaxing!
I just went to Costa Rica with 3 of my friends and stayed at Pura Vida House. We visited this country to try out some outdoor adventures and get some beach time in as well. The house is great, very clean, brand new appliances, rooms are big, and each room has its own private bathroom, which was nice! Some of the big pluses about this house are that it’s private, a friendly maid comes every morning to clean and change linens, and breezy terraces surround the house, so you can take your pick in which terrace you want to sit an relax at. One of the bedrooms, the corner one facing west has a mini private terrace where you can watch sunsets - this is definitely the best room of the house! The property itself has lots to view; you can walk around some of the trails and check out a variety of plants and animals. Thousands of parakeets are in the trees surrounding the house so you will hear them in the mornings and late afternoons, quite an experience! Would recommend this house for sure, easily sleeps 6 people comfortably. You’ll definitely get a Costa Rican nature experience staying here!!

Owner response: Thank you very much for the review. We are so glad that you and your friends had a good time at Pura Vida House and in Costa Rica! We are very happy that the weather was good considering it is green season down there. Pastora and Plinio enjoyed meeting you and wish you all the best in your endeavors here in the US. We are in the process of buying more rocking chairs and a hammock to place in the terraces so next time you come you will see those added features. Please don’t hesitate to contact Steph or myself anytime if there is anything else we can do. Good luck returning back to work! Warm regards from your new “tico” friends, Jorge and Stephanie.
Awesome place to stay at, relax, relax, relax!
Awesome place to stay at, relax, relax, relax!
We loved the house! It was true to the description on the Website, very peaceful and quiet, a nature lovers dream, completely surrounded by beautiful hills and vegetation. We saw lots of animals and heard even more of them while we were at the house. The thousands of parakeets in the trees will wake you up in the mornings! You definitely need a car if you are going to stay at Pura Vida House; but there is lots to do if you are willing to drive a bit. Beaches, golf, tennis, restaurants, bars, grocery stores, etc., are all within 10 miles of the house. We didn’t mind driving in exchange for some great privacy and being able to fully relax. Just what the doctor ordered! Would definitely recommend this house for someone looking to get away from it all in a beautiful country! Awesome vacation!

Amazing place to stay at!
Amazing place to stay at!
We recently stayed for 5 nights at Pura Vida House with my friends and I’d definitely recommend this house to anyone who wants to get away from it all and seeks adventure. This was our first time in Costa Rica and we loved it! We would wake up, have breakfast and then drive over to Tamarindo to relax at the beach during the day. Then we would come back to the house and grill at night. This house is very spacious; more than plenty of room in each bedroom and bathroom and the house is surrounded by huge covered terraces that were our favorite place to hang out at. You will sleep great here, can’t hear a thing at night. The guard is very friendly, he does not speak English but we were able to communicate with him with our limited Spanish. Daily maid service is a great bonus! She would come in every morning to clean and change the linens. We enjoyed walking around the property and seeing lots of types of trees and wildlife. We saw a pisote one of the days (looks like a black raccoon) and it is parakeet heaven here. You’ll see and hear thousands of green parakeets especially during late afternoons. At night, you’ll hear howler monkeys in the hills in front of the house, a wonderful experience! The house was completed in March, so it’s basically a new construction. This means new appliances and furniture too, which is very convenient. Pura Vida House is definitely a bargain for everything that it offers! We had a great vacation and this beautiful and tranquil house was one of the highlights!

Owner response: We are so glad you liked Pura Vida House and had a good time in Costa Rica! We are in the process of building a few more paths on the property so viewing wildlife is easier. Thank you for taking care of the house so well and also for giving Plinio an unexpected souvenir from Washington, DC. I guess he will become a Redskins fan soon, he he! Our friends who we put you in touch with in Tamarindo were delighted to meet you. Have a great rest of the summer up in our nations capital!
If you've never been to Costa Rica (or even if you've been many times) this is the place to go. Costa Rica is truly amazing - gorgeous beaches, friendly natives, nature, scenery, activities - it has everything! This property is clean and lovingly maintained by the owners. I've stayed in a resort in Costa Rica before, and though they are nice, Pura Vida House is a true value. Imagine getting a whole house, just minutes from beaches and activities, at such a good rate. The inclusion of a guard and maid service at no cost to you truly makes this place remarkable. Pura Vida House is a MUST STAY Costa Rican destination!

Owner response: We are so glad that you had a relaxing time at Pura Vida House. Also, your valuable feedback at the site during your check-out day was thoughtful and greatly appreciated. Per your suggestions, we have already added a few more comfy rocking chairs to the southwest terrace of the house adjacent to bedroom # 2, and we will be ordering a hammock very soon. We welcome you to come visit us again in the near future. Have a wonderful week … pura vida! Warm regards, Your new friends in Costa Rica.

About the owner: We got married in Guanacaste, Costa Rica 2 years ago and we fell in love with the natural beauty, white sand beaches and wonderful people there. Time seems to slow down when you are in Guanacaste. We started Sports for Nature in 2007 in order to combine our 2 biggest passions: sports and the environment. This has allowed us to love our work (very important in life!), while being able to live well, meet new people every week, and travel around the world. As part of Sports for Nature's activities, we host many groups of friends and families from all over the world at Pura Vida House. We both love showing people around Costa Rica and making them feel right at home. Jorge was born in Costa Rica and has spent half of his life in Washington, DC and Gainesville, Florida (Go Gators!). Stephanie was born in Columbus, Ohio (Go Bucks!) and spent 9 years in Washington, DC. She attended college at Denison University in Granville, Ohio where she played field hockey and lacrosse. Jorge has now converted her to tennis! We now live half the year in Columbus and half the year in Guanacaste at Pura Vida House, spending quality time with both our families and enjoying many of the outdoor activities that we love, year round. Jorge holds an M.A. in Environmental and Resource Policy from The George Washington University and a B.A. in International Relations from Universidad Latina of Costa Rica. Jorge played tennis for The George Washington University and Davis Cup for Costa Rica. He is now an avid golfer as well! Our respective families and ourselves, and our wonderful dogs Safin and Sienna spend many magical weeks of the year in our home away from home in Guanacaste ... the Pura Vida House. Stay at Pura Vida House with us and you will never want to leave!
Why the Owner Chose Tamarindo:
We consider Guanacaste paradise, so we bought along with our family the 6 acre property 5 years ago and built Pura Vida House in 2010. Needless to say, we love our house and hope to retire here full-time sometime in the near future!
The Unique Benefits at this Chateau / Country House:
House and land offer superb privacy and vast expance (6 acres). At night, the view of the stars is the best around, and the air is filled with parakeets and other exotic birds by day. The house is surrounded by lush green hills and there's plenty of space (3,907 sq. ft. of living space). It's definitely a nature lover’s dream, very peaceful, and yet close to all the popular beaches in Guanacaste, as well as tennis and golf spots (we can't go a day without playing at least one of our two favorite sports!). All of the most popular Guanacaste activities such as fishing, snorkeling, horse back riding, zip lines, surfing, volcanoes, hot springs, etc., are a stone's throw away from Pura Vida House.
