Asheville bungalow description
Welcome to Mint Cottage, our charming, Craftsman style bungalow located just 5 minutes from downtown. As you open the white picket gate out front you’ll feel yourself go back in time and place. This recently renovated 1912 bungalow has all the amenities for the perfect getaway AND it is conveniently located to all that Asheville has to offer-amazing restaurants and shopping, the Biltmore Estate, the Blue Ridge Parkway and many outdoor adventure activities. Enjoy the comfort of your own home away from home in our cottage on a quiet neighborhood street.
The two bedrooms are furnished with one double bed and one queen with high thread count sheets, quilts and down comforters. The Moroccan Room will transport you to another country. Tranquil, with two couches and mood lighting this room can sleep two on the couches or be used as a quiet room to read or relax in.
The house is decorated with comfortable furniture, antiques and unique art. The cheerful yellow and blue kitchen is fully equipped with anything you would need to cook a full meal, reheat take out, or pop some croissants into the oven while your coffee is brewing. There is a full sized washer and dryer in the home.
A door from the kitchen leads you onto a deck in the fenced in backyard. Your dog will love having the doggie door to run in and out while you relax, cook out on the barbecue, watch the birds at the feeder, or explore the neighborhood on the two bikes.

Loved the cottage and it's location. The pics and info in the ad are accurate. Easy walk south to downtown or north to UNC and lots of restaurants with very reasonable prices and top notch food. (Like Louellen's, Ave M and Noi's Thai cafe) The cottage was clean, comfortable and well maintained. I had a pleasant conversation with Meryl before renting, she was helpful, answered all our questions. There is a friendly local property manager to help you with anything you need. The security deposit was refunded almost immediately. The front and back yards are both fenced. The chairs and glider on the front porch were a nice touch. We spent every morning out there with coffee, fresh baked pastries (from Dough) and our dachsies planning the days adventure. We would stay here again.

I lived in this home for 3 weeks and could not have been any happier with it. It is in the best location, has amazing parking, and is so so clean. The home itself is very comfortable and welcoming, and has plenty of space. While there were only a few of us, there is so much room to fit a lot more! I would suggest this home to anyone looking for a place to stay in Asheville. I know one review mentioned the noise level but we never once over the course of three weeks had any sort of problem with noise. It was always quiet! It was also amazing to have the groundskeeper near by in case we need anything. Having that peace of mind is a huge luxury! Will most definitely be staying here again :)

Each year our immediate family spends Thanksgiving at a location amicable for each member. We decided on Asheville because we could incorporate a visit to the Biltmore and enjoy a Thanksgiving feast at the Grove Park Inn plus enjoy the fine dining and brewing establishments in Asheville. The Mint Cottage provided plenty of room for five adults and one dog. The drive way easily allowed for parking for two vehicles. The cottage is located only several blocks from downtown Asheville with a drive of no more than five to ten minutes. The fenced yard is spacious to allow your pet to run without a leash. We enjoyed our four-day stay at the cottage and would recommend it for a stay at Asheville.

Lucky to have 2 new grandsons this year. One born in California, the other in Asheville. Stayed at Mint Cottage for a mini family reunion a few days prior to Christmas. The Location, close in town was just what we needed for this stay. The cottage was clean and nicely appointed. The price is excellent for the area. Lots of rain prevented us from using the porches but they would be great in better weather. Small caveat, close neighbors can be a bit noisy.

Owner response: I think the noise from the neighbors is a rare occurrence. They may have had a party. It is usually a very quiet neighborhood.
Great place to stay in town

We stayed in the Mint Cottage when we came in for the Christmas Jam and to celebrate Christmas with our son, who lives in Asheville. We were especially interested in the dog-friendly accommodations. The house is clean, well organized, easy to find and to get to, and well appointed. But, since you're reading this review to get the low-down, here are some of the notable things - you can decide yourself whether they are pluses or minuses. There is off street parking for at least three cars. Harris Teeter's and Trader Joes are literally right down the street - a long walk, but a very short drive. There is a school with a nice playground within walking distance (although it's near a pretty busy street, so you'll want to send an adult with those kiddos). The dishwasher, refrigerator, and washer/dryer are new and working well. There is a good coffee maker and a gas range. There are two baths - the one shared by the double bedroom and the Moroccan room has a shower, the one in the master bedroom does not. If you sleep in the Moroccan room, you sleep on a couch, although my 6'4" son reported it as "pretty comfortable". There is a large tv in the living room on which my sports obsessed family could watch every game they were interested in. There is also a small tv tucked away in the master bedroom. There is a nice porch on both ends of the house, and the keyless entry was handy for our multiple guests who were coming and going at different times. Our dogs were quite welcomed, but there are plenty of tools (hair rollers, doggie clean-up bags) to make sure the property stays nice for everyone. For our situation it was ideal, and we will stay again next time we visit.

Cute, pet-friendly cottage in Asheville

We stayed at the Mint Cottage for 4 days in December 2013 with 2 labradors, we walked every day on Charlotte Street for breakfast at the City Bakery (great quiche, sandwiches and breads). The Starbucks is just a little further on Charlotte. We also walked downtown and did the walking tour, had some delicious pumpkin muffin and latte at the Double D Decker Bus. We took the Candle Light Tour at the Biltmore (about a 10-minute-drive from the house) and went back the day after for touring the ground. The house is perfect, everything on one level, great fenced-in yard for playing with our puppy, loved just sitting on the front porch with a cup of coffee and relax. Loved Meryl and Jeff's travel pictures on the walls. We will definitely come back.

We absolutely fell in love with this house! It was so comfortable and had everything we needed. My kids (ages 10 and 7) loved having a yard to play in and so did our two dogs. The cottage decor is delightful. We loved being so close to everything while we were in Asheville. We will absolutely stay here again!

We stayed a week in July with our dogs. They had an awesome time. It was so nice that they could go out in the front and back and that both fences were secure. The house is comfortable and in an awesome location with close proximity to town and Grove Park (if you're planning a nice spa day). Everything in Asheville is within a 10-15 minute drive anyway but it was nice to be centrally located. We will definitely recommend to friends. Thanks for a great week.

Cute cottage in great Asheville location!
Cute cottage in great Asheville location!
We very much enjoyed our weekend at the Mint Cottage. We have a small dog that is our child that we take everywhere. He doesn't do well in hotels when left alone as he can hear noises outside the door so he barks until he drives everyone crazy. Not the case here, the cottage is on a nice quiet street with a fenced backyard. He never got anxious and that left us to enjoy our weekend. The Cottage is nicely appointed, very clean and well decorated. We walked from the Cottage to all over downtown Asheville. It would be easy to walk or bike from this spot and leave the car behind. It served our needs perfectly - three couples in Asheville for the weekend. We would highly recommend this, especially for families with pets, and we will be back sometime soon!

About the owner: Jeff and Meryl live in Charleston, SC. We have been married for 33 years and have two children, 2 dogs and a cat. We love to travel and met while backpacking in Europe when we were in college. Having a place in Asheville gives us the best of both worlds-Beach and Mountains. Meryl is originally from NJ and is an artist and Jeff is a proud Kentuckian, loves to garden and being retired.
Why the Owner Chose Asheville:
We purchased our Asheville house when our daughter was a student at UNCA. After she graduated we decided to renovate it and use it as a mountain getaway. We love the character of a 1912 home but with all modern conveniences. We love the cool mountain weather and the abundance of activities in and around Asheville. It is great to stroll around downtown and see what is happening-there always seems to be a festival, a street fair, or other excitement going on. If you love the arts, there are plenty of galleries and the new River Arts District. There is every kind of outdoor activity-on a recent trip we went tubing and berry-picking. If you love craft beer, Asheville was just voted #1 Beer City in the US!
The Unique Benefits at this Bungalow:
You will love Mint Cottage, appropriately named for the abundance of mint growing in the front yard. It is a lovely location in a residential neighborhood, but walking distance to restaurants, coffee shops and Ultimate Ice Cream-the best in Asheville!! The house is comfortable, snug and very clean. It is colorfully and artistically decorated with many of the artist owner's personal touches. We are dog-friendly, with fenced front and back yards and a doggy door. We have a notebook of menus from our favorite restaurants as well as suggestions of where to shop, what to see and what to do! There is a deck for outdoor relaxing. There is off street parking for two cars.
