Batesburg-Leesville house description
Our house is 45 minutes to Augusta Master's Golf event. Call me for special per person rates.
Turn onto Cedar Lane at Lake Murray, drive to the end of the gravel road to our home at 143 Clouds Point. The dead-end road leads to an ideal vacation spot for those looking for a quiet, relaxing lakeside home for a week. We also can do three night minimum rentals for those of you who want to fish over the weekends. Our home was built in 2009, is over 2,800 sq. ft and includes all the upgrades my builder husband could think to include.
We offer property damage insurance coverage on this property. This insurance covers broken lamps, windows and glass; damaged doors, walls and furniture; stained bedding or linens and much more and is mandatory to rent this house. There is also a check-out security deposit due depending on the number of people in your group, and should be paid in cash at check-in (usually around $300.00).
The main living level includes three bedrooms and two and half baths. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed, hardwood floors, a gorgeous view of the water and the bathroom has huge soaking tub and separate custom built shower, two sinks, and large pantry closet. There is 32”TV and Blue-Ray DVD player, land-line phone, back door exit/entrance.
Both of the guest bedrooms have queen-sized beds with an adjoining bathroom. This bathroom has a Jacuzzi tub/shower combination. These two bedrooms have huge closets and easily sleep little ones on the carpeted floors. Both bedrooms have wall mounted 32”HD TV and Blu-Ray DVD player with access to our Netflix account .
Upstairs is 700' suite with bedroom, 32' HD TV, Blue Ray player that streams Netflix internet movies directly, bathroom, air hockey game and sitting room. This bedroom has queen sized bed along with trundle bed that will sleep two additional people. The office printer and fax is located upstairs in this space. Bring your laptop and we provide wireless internet service and free long-distance land line phone.
The foyer, dining room and great room have hardwood floors. The dining room seats 10 and the breakfast room, overlooking the lake, seats 6. Above brick fireplace is 55” TV, with surround sound system and all the boxes and buttons nearby. This TV has Blu-Ray player capable of streaming Netflix internet movies directly. A large gas fireplace anchors the beautiful oak mantel. A full kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, several small appliances and all the extras. The full sized laundry room is off the kitchen.
NOTE ABOUT OUR TVs: WE HAVE OVER-THE-AIR ANTENNA ONLY. ADDITIONAL NETFLIX MOVIES CAN BE LOADED FROM YOUR LAPTOP COMPUTER. YOU CAN PICK FROM HUNDREDS OF MOVIES AND TV SHOWS USING OUR FREE WIRELESS INTERNET CONNECTION.
Large deck out back door with table and chairs, umbrella and 3-person hot tub. Enjoy a couple of rocking chairs while over looking over 200’ of Lake Murray shoreline. Sit and watch the children swimming, fishing, or playing on the sandy beach by the water. A 3-swing set is fun for children and adults.
The deep water dock averages over 10’ deep. There is a fishing cleaning station at the dock and fresh water shower. A dock ladder provides for easy swimming/diving access.
We have several sizes of life-jackets and swim noodles. The picnic pavilion and sunning deck houses over 10 chairs, a table, counter tops all around the perimeter, and gas outdoor fireplace in the center. The outdoor kitchen includes all stainless steel gas grill, sink, fish fryer, and refrigerator and has granite counter tops.
You can build your own fire in our large new fire pit (one complimentary pkg of firewood included), and we can provide additional bundles for a small fee. And, an additional bathhouse/storage building with half bath is in the back yard.
Camp Barstow public boat ramp is 5 minutes away and there is ample parking at our house for your boat trailer and cars. The Hwy. 378/391 traffic circle is 2 miles from the house and has Dollar General, gas and convenience store, grill/hamburger restaurant and liquor store. The nearest Wal-Mart, fast foods and several restaurants will be in Leesville-Batesburg about 13 miles away.
Everything about this home is first class from the 55' wide screen TV to the outdoor kitchen and picnic pavilion at the water’s edge. We have set this home up for our retirement and thus it is equipped and furnished much nicer than a typical lake rental. We are very careful to select guests that appreciate the extras and take care of them. Our goal is that every guest who walks in the home is impressed and more than satisfied when they leave. We will meet you upon arrival and give instruction on all the remote controls in the house (and there are quite a few).
The fishing at Lake Murray is spectacular. Several guides are available for bass, stripper, crappie and perch fishing. They can pick you up at the dock if you like. Some will even clean your catch. Lake Murray is calmer than other lakes in the area, great for watersports. Wakeboarding is becoming a popular pastime in the area along with skiing and jet ski riding.
We are located 30 minutes from Lexington, 40 minutes from Columbia, two hours from the Augusta National to Charleston and the beautiful South Carolina coast.
NEW FOR 2014: We have added a bunk house which sleeps four. You must bring a sleeping bag, but you will have access to a half bath and outdoor hot shower. The bunk house has wall mounted TV, air conditioning and heat with set of bunk beds and a queen sized bed. This is only available to families renting the big house for anadditional daily fee of $50 per day. Email for more info and pictures.
Rental contract must be signed to accept reservation.

Will not forget this annual VRBO rental.... not for good reasons either!
Will not forget this annual VRBO rental.... not for good reasons either!
We chose to stay in this beautiful home. I will leave this review to facts, positively noting it is a beautiful "home". Upon our arrival, we were faced with negatives. #1. Not a wheel chair accessible home. 2 steep steps in the garage or 5 in the front entry. #2. A personal home filled with family photos, wedding photos over bed and personal toiletries in bathrooms. We tried to overlook for already there. Their refrigerator closed with chains and cars in the garage just became topic of conversation. #3- The house was infested with lady bugs. So when you turned on the shower, they took flight. When you turned on ceiling fan in master bed, (while homeowners pictures looked down on you) the fan projectile threw the ladybugs in direction of your face. (Roaches too upstairs) #4 LAKE IS LOW! No dock- just mud Again, I love VRBO and don't expect perfection and have never taken time to even write a review- good or bad. With that being said, the problem came when was time to return my deposit. Knowing it was a personal home, I assumed that the owners were used to handling it professional as a rental. I received email from Kathy and pasted below. **Silverware drawer had to be totally organized again. **Quilts in closet were used for pallets and not returned. **Furniture/chairs moved in living room and not replaced to original position. **3 extra sheets (pallets) needed to be laundered. **Several dishes and pots-pans were replaced in cabinets dirty. **The oven rack was forced and warped into the oven. Paul had to fix. She deducted $70 for the fact that my 10 year old did not properly unload the silverware tray and her dishwasher did not clean the dishes to her expectations?? I must apologize for I have grounded him and deducted his allowance. I recommend leaving a floor plan to show exactly how the silverware should go? The living room is not set up for handicap and pathways are tight. I apologize again for perhaps we did not slide the chair back 3 inches. Perhaps another floor plan or tape on the floor for the exact position to where it should go? Don't know what pallets referring to? Did we use blankets? Yes it was 25 deg. Don't even know what to say. Chain the blankets? Rack forced? We cooked a turkey- Maybe he was trying to escape? Followed rule book left just 2 towel dirty from party 10! I cleaned more here than my house. What was cleaning fee for? RENTER BEWARE! Unprofessional

Owner response: These renters arrived late from airport and was after midnight. As is our regular method of renting, we personally meet all tenants to discuss problems or concerns and answer questions. In retrospect, I should not have agreed to arrival time of 1:00am. 1. Our ground floor does have TWO (2) steps from garage floor; BUT upon entering house, wheelchair/scooter will move easily through doors, bathroom, shower stall, etc. 2. Our listing mentions that certain closets, cabinets and doors will be locked. The owner's freezer and refrigerator are outside in the garage and are kept locked. The inside refrigerator and freezer were empty and cleaned. There was only ONE vehicle that remained in the garage. 3. fLady bugs are harmless and enter the house this time every year. We usually try to vacuum them up as they ALWAYS light at 9' ceiling corners. The master bedroom fan has never thrown any bugs on our bed. The roaches are and were dead and are very common in this county. We have used insecticides try control these palmetto bugs. 4. WE HAVE NO CONTROL WHATSOEVER WHEN SCE&G DECIDES TO LOWER OUR LAKE LEVEL. I actually emailed this renter 2 weeks before they arrived to let them know there would be no water at the dock; mud, etc. They did not respond with any concerns about the lake level. Lastly, the security/cleaning deposit is received with the understanding that the house, furniture, kitchen cabinets, dishes, blankets etc., are left as found. The kitchen dishwasher works just fine if it is loaded properly; have never had any problem with renter leaving dirty dishes. If you have read all this owner's response, please read further the previous reviews. They are excellent. I am thankful we live in a country of free speech and people can write anything they choose to say. Yes, this is our primary home. No, there is not a picture of the owners looking down on the master bed. There is one 8x10 wedding picture on one wall in the master bedroom that can hardly be seen when laying in the bed. The pictures of the inside of our house are accurate and if you would like to see more; just let me know. We do have a smart phone and can get to you in a minute.
We enjoyed a very relaxing week on the river for our "spring break" in this beautiful home. The outdoor "living space" was put to use from sun up to sun down. Our four kids spent each day swimming, fishing, floating and exploring. We were there for 7 days and only left once to go see out nephew's baseball game. Our brother, sister-in-law and their four kids live just a few miles away from this home, and came to visit us each day that we were there. The home was perfect, plenty of room, even when our nieces and nephew stayed overnight. We felt welcome and "at home" throughout our stay. We appreciate Kathi and Paul opening up their home to us and we would love to come back and visit again someday!

Owner response: Stacey was good enough to email me a few of their week's pictures, and especially seeing the fish the boys caught. I loved the picture of your morning coffee by the fireplace under our pavillion. It is so quiet and peaceful and am glad you came. My neighbor said she never heard so much fun and laughter all day every day.

The house is beautiful & the views are just breath taking, you feel right at home the minute you walk in. We were there for 9 days and loved every minute of it, in fact it went by way to fast. There is something for everyone here to do & the house has everything you may need and more. The owners are very pleasant, helpful, generous, kind & very accessible by phone if needed. The directions are spot on. Thank – You, Paul & Kathi for sharing your beautiful home, we hope to visit again very soon…

Rest and fun time at the lake
Rest and fun time at the lake
My family had a wonderful time at the Hall's house on Lake Murray. The view is great, you cannot beat the fishing & boating. I am a senior citizen, but there was an awful lot I could do. The back porch was very comfortable, and the Hot Tub was an added pleasure for me & my slight aches & pains. I loved the birds that flew in to eat from feeders. My family really enjoyed the get away feeling. The outdoor kitchen was really nice. The furniture wa very comfortable inside and out. I highly recommend this property.

The Perfect Lake Murray Getaway!
The Perfect Lake Murray Getaway!
Our family had a wonderful experience renting this home! The property is very well-maintained and spacious. Much of our time was spent enjoying the outdoor pavilion (with full outdoor kitchen!), dock, paddleboat and boat (included with the rental!). The massive yard, swing set, and sandy beach area were favorite play places for our young children. The house is located on a very quiet cove with very little boat traffic. The owners Kathi and Paul were very helpful and accessible by phone if needed. We highly recommend this property to others. Our family will definitely be back!

Owner response: This family group brought a tow rope and large float and pulled their little children all around the creek using our small fishing boat. When we got back to the house after they left, we could hardly tell anyone was here for three days. They even left us 2 cartons of ice cream in the freezer.
