The Little House on Howard Street is a historic 1923 house that has been completely rebuilt to take full advantage of its unique size. This cozy nest of 280 square feet was built as a stand-alone house and is now the perfect place to spend the week in Pasadena for a single traveler or couple.
Inspired by the “compact” house movement that has taken shape over recent years, the Little House on Howard Street offers an excellent example of efficiency and elegance. Stylishly furnished with modern and traditional craftsman furniture and art, it is the perfect alternative to a hotel. The neighborhood is quiet and pleasant for walking, and it is a five-minute drive to all that Pasadena has to offer – world-class museums, outstanding colleges and universities, top-rated restaurants and shopping, historic Old Town, hiking and other outdoor activities, and the Rose Bowl.
The house has a newly rebuilt kitchen with a two burner gas stove, small refrigerator, combination microwave/convection oven for roasting and baking, coffee maker, toaster, and a reverse osmosis water filter for drinking water. We also offer WiFi, cable television, iPod stereo dock, washer and dryer, air conditioning/heater, peaceful covered deck, and the privacy of staying in your own house.
The Little House on Howard Street is less than 15 miles from Downtown Los Angeles, Hollywood, and Burbank, which can all be accessed by easy connections with the Metro Gold Line or by freeway, one of which is the newly restored historic Arroyo Parkway, the nation’s first freeway.

We stayed at the Little House for one week, using it as a base to explore the area before our daughter graduated from Scripps College. It was everything we could have wished for. Delightful and well appointed----even a french press for fresh brewed coffee! Never felt we needed to get anything other than groceries for our stay. It is compact, but the layout is very clever in the use of space. It is obvious that the owners are very caring for and attentive to this property. When we had a problem with the front door lock, they fixed it that same day. Highly recommend this for anyone looking for a comfortable and unique experience.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We spent 5 weeks while I was doing sabbatical research. We were amazed at how well the house was designed and how well we were able to set up a household in such a tight space. The location was great! I enjoyed running in the Angeles National Forest just 15 minutes from the front door. The only down side was that the chairs were not very comfortable for several hours of sitting. The kitchen was well equipped and we enjoyed many gourmet meals. Having a washer/dryer was an extra special touch.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing.

We spent over a week at this charming little house and had a wonderful stay. It's small but extremely functional, well decorated and well equipped. It was a real pleasure to have breakfast every morning on the back deck, surrounded by plants. The owners even made sure there was a portable baby bed for our little baby. The location might seem a little remote for some, but it's not far from the freeway. We would definitely stay here again.Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway.

I was anticipating a nice, clean, comfortable place based upon the photos, but the Little House FAR exceeds my expectations. The house is truly perfect, very well situated geographically (easy freeway access, etc.) So comfortable and well-appointed that it is far better than any hotel could be. Yes it is compact, but when one really thinks about how we use space, it's just good design. Liz's touches (great sheets and towels, thoughtful amenities) make this even more special. I'm here for a long stay, so the ability to "set up housekeeping" is very important--I've now found my new home base when I'm in LA! Only problem is, now this review will make it impossible for me to book this all the time! Thanks for sharing your lovely nest with me.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

i could tell from the pictures that this place was small but i was really impressed with the set up. i stayed here with my husband and we both seemed to forget how small the space was. there was a comfortable sitting area for reading and watching tv and another area set up outside for sitting where we enjoyed having coffee each morning. i was impressed with the quality of this little home and the decor. the bath towels were super soft too. sometimes it's the little things that count. i really appreciated the attention to detail! i will definitely be back!!Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

I love the little house. My boyfriend and I stayed for 3 nights while we were visiting relatives in Pasadena. I could easily see staying here for a much longer visit. The house is beautifully appointed and is so well laid out, with a separate living room, bedroom, and kitchen, that it actually seems much larger than the square footage would indicate. A covered patio in the back provides additional living space, and is a very relaxing place to sit and decompress. The house is spotless, has new appliances and fixtures, and is stylishly furnished with craftsman furniture and unique pieces of art. It also has all the modern amenities, like wireless internet, flat-screen TV, cable, a washer/dryer, and air conditioning. The exterior is lovely, with a cute front porch and pretty plantings in the front yard. And the house is located in a classic Pasadena neighborhood, with beautiful mature trees and historic homes. All in all, a great rental. I would definitely stay here again!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I visited my father in LA for two weeks- a little too long to stay in a hotel. Luckily my father found this adorable rental house. I can't think of a bad thing to say about it. As soon as we walked in we couldn't stop raving about how perfect everything is! It's charmingly decorated and has every amenity that you could think of to make your stay as perfect as possible. The living room is set up with a television for when you need a break from running around the city. The bed is luxuriously soft (I could spend an entire review just on how comfortable it is!). The bathroom and kitchen are stocked enough that all you need is a quick stop at the grocery store and then you're ready to live here as if it were your own home away from home. The next time I'm in Los Angeles, I'll definitely try to stay here again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

I very much enjoyed my 3 nights at this charming, attractive and compact little house. It is beautifully designed and decorated to be livable, with high quality and aesthetically pleasing choices throughout. There are many thoughtful touches -- from filtered drinking water, to plenty of wood hangers in the closet, to wi-fi, to the well equipped kitchen --- that create a warm and inviting space. Landscaping is nicely done and the patio is especially charming.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

My wife and I stayed here for a week with our 15 month old and had a great time. We were able to use the front room as a nursury and the bed room kitchen and back deck as adult entertainment space. The amerinites were all there. We didn't need to buy any housewares since it come complete with all needed implements. We took a walk to the amazing Amernian Bakery only a few blocks away on Washington Blvd and enjoied coffee and rolls. The shower is strong. The WiFi works and the huge flat screen TV was a treat! It was peacefull and quiet and havig our al fresco breakfast and fresh brewed coffee was so relaxing.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
