Poipu Sands is located on over seven acres next door to the Grand Hyatt Kauai. These vacation rentals in sunny Poipu boast expansive green areas with tropical landscaping providing you with a large open grassy space and a carefree, beach resort lifestyle while relaxing in your spacious condo. Poipu Sands and the Grand Hyatt share a gateway to the Poipu Kai greenbelt giving everyone easy access to Shipwreck Beach (Keoneloa Bay) on one end and Poipu and Brennecke`s beaches on the other.
Poipu Sands has its own swimming pool and tennis court as well as use of the Poipu Kai community swimming pool, hot tub and tennis courts. A thriving, friendly tennis community at Poipu Kai welcomes Kauai`s visitors with open arms. Several barbeque areas with comfortable sitting areas are throughout the Poipu Sands` grounds.
Stroll down to Shipwreck Beach and watch the sunrise or climb the Mahaulepu Coastal Trail, which begins just beyond the beach. This trail is a special part of the Kauai History Heritage site and the last stretch of accessible coastline on the South Shore that has not been developed. This wonderful coastal hike takes you across a variety of terrain, from small sand dunes to sandstone pinnacles and even a sinkhole cave. The area provides a safe haven for marine life, such as sea turtles and the endangered Hawaiian Monk Seal. The trail leads to beautiful Mahaulepu Beach, a great place to spot whales in the winter or observe (from a distance) a monk seal napping on the beach.
Next door to the Sands, you can wander around the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa`s lush tropical gardens or indulge in a reviving treatment at the world-class Anara Spa. This lovely setting lets you easily explore the natural wonders of our Garden Isle of Kauai, as well as dine at several delightful restaurants or enjoy the galleries and shops. Treat yourself to one of Kauai`s best luaus, featuring authentic dance, events and cuisine.
On the opposite side of the Hyatt, only a ten-minute walk away, is the world famous Poipu Bay Golf Course situated on 210 oceanfront acres. Challenging at all levels of play and yet fun for the novice as well, Poipu Bay hosted the PGA Grand Slam of Golf from 1994-2006.

We loved this condoGuest comment entered by manager
We loved this condo
We stayed here for a week over Christmas, 2013. The room arrangements were good for us and our daughter, son-in-law and 4 year old grandson. The kitchen is well equipped. We enjoyed eating meals on the patio most of the time. More lighting is needed for evening dining (in winter when it gets dark earlier) on the patio. Weather was perfect - warm and dry, during our stay. Ten minute walk to Poipu Park and beaches for kids, snorkeling, and boogie boarding.

Nice condoGuest comment entered by manager
We stayed in this condo for a week over Christmas and it was very open and comfortable, making it easy for entertaining other family staying on the island. The couple of issues we had when we first arrived were addressed immediately by local staff. Suggested improvements are better cooking pans/utensils and bedding that fits the beds (no matter how well you make them they still look sloppy).

Best Kauai CondoGuest comment entered by manager
Best Kauai Condo
We loved this beautifully appointed walk-out unit. Each room boasts fine artwork. Owners and/or previous guests have left many useful amenities such as beach gear, books and travel advice galore! The kitchen is well-equiped enough to host large party (we did). Location is sunny and beautiful. My 80 year-old mother found the unit accessible and the furniture comfortable. Well worth the price - I would return to this unit in a heartbeat. Delightful stay!

This is our first time staying at Poipu Sands 412, but not our first at the sands. 412 is very nicely update, love the bose system, and selection of dvd's. A comfortable condo to enjoy your Hawaiian holiday. We have always had excellent service from the Great Vacation staff. We will back again next year.

Nice place for us
We really had a perfect time staying in this unit. I loved the access to the grass right off of the patio. It was so convenient to wake up in the morning and look out to see the sunrise and walk over to Shipwreck Beach to greet the morning. The condo with 2 bedrooms work well for our family. We would definitely return for another vacation here.

Wonderful Unit Near Beach.
I have stayed in this complex before and this is a great unit. It is well equipped, close to the Hyatt and Shipwreak Beach. Great whale and turtle watching just steps away. Rental office was extremely helpful and responsive to all requests. Would define fly rent again.

Poipu Sands 412, a great place to stayGuest comment entered by manager
Poipu Sands 412, a great place to stay
Great condo! Clean, and spacious. Both baths have plenty of counter space and showers only. Master shower is huge. Enjoyed the oceanview from the master bedroom and lanai. I found the second bedroom more comfortable as it was cooler in there and the queen bed is more comfortable to me than the king was. My husband liked both just fine. There is also a twin bed and buit-in desk in the 2nd bedroom. Plenty of towels. This condo had some extras...books, including guide books, beachchairs, pool noodles, snorkel gear, extra fans to name a few. The Bose system along with a cd collection was very nice. Overall very comfortable, clean and well taken care of. The pool was great. We enjoyed it all to ourselves one evening. It was fun floating while stargazing. Walked down to the water which is close and watched the sea turtles as the sun rose. Another couple had seen dolphins there one morning. Fyi- no hot tub and the one the condo book guides you to was locked when we tried to go at 7 pm. Would come back to this condo in a heartbeat and highly recommend. GVR is also very easy to work with and helpful answering my questions.

Well located and appointed condoGuest comment entered by manager
Well located and appointed condo
We opened the lock box and started a wonderful stay in 412. The layout and appointments were lovely, and the kitchen was well provisioned with the necessaries for home cooking, which we much enjoyed doing with our family. Our grand children particularly liked being able to head directly outside on the great expanse of lawn, where they frolicked with a great view of the ocean. The Poipu location was great for hikes and beaching nearby- services within a short drive. (We stopped at Costco to give us an initial supply, and then locally supplemented) Missed having a hot tub and fitness facility. No one told us that there was a car that went with the unit! That would have been a very welcome saving!!!

Second HoneymoonGuest comment entered by manager
Beautiful condo. Didn't think it would be as quiet as it was. We had the pool all to ourselves! Enjoyed eating on the lanai several times. There's an ocean view from the master bedroom and lanai. Lots of fans in the home, which come in handy. The 2nd bedroom with queen and twin beds stays much cooler than the master. Saw sea turtles in the morning. Others said they had seen dolphins the morning before. Easy walk to the Hyatt where we enjoyed their swings facing the ocean for a romantic sunset. Would love to stay here again.

About: Aloha~ Thank you for viewing my properties! My name is Amy Grant and I own a boutique vacation management company in Kauai called Great Vacation Retreats. I happily work and reside in Kauai and have been managing vacation rentals on the Garden Isle for almost 4 years. Been married to my husband, Scott, since 2003 and we have a beautiful little girl named Presley. When we aren't busy chasing her around, we enjoy going to the beach, cooking and traveling. I love working with my guests to find the perfect place for them to call home while on vacation. It can be overwhelming trying to pick out the right property -- I can help. My staff and I take great pride in the properties we manage and believe that we truly have some of the best properties the island has to offer. We have been in each property numerous times and stayed in most so that we can give you an accurate description of what each property's amenities are, distances to the beach, sightseeing, restaurants, etc. We can also help you with any activities you might be interested in while on island such as surfing lessons, private boat charters, guided hikes, stand up paddling, personal chef, childcare and much more! Mahalo for looking :)
Why Poipu Sands:
My husband and I were married at Kee Beach on the North Shore and visited the island several times after. We used to manage vacation rentals in Lake Tahoe and many of the owners also owned property in Kauai and asked if we would be interested in starting a business here. After a couple of years, we finally made the move and have been blissfully happy ever since. The island has so much natural beauty and outdoor activities, yet it still doesn't have that 'big resort' feel. It is a great, safe place for children and also makes for a perfect honeymoon or anniversary destination.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
There are so many outdoor activities to enjoy here -- going to the beach, surfing, stand up paddling, horseback riding, hiking, sightseeing, taking a boat charter along the Napali Coast, kayaking, camping, biking, etc. I enjoy getting a spa treatment at the Anara Day Spa at the Hyatt. If you enjoy going to a spa, their facial is perfect. My husband and I met at culinary school and consider ourselves 'foodies'. We love the Kilauea Bakery for a great cup of coffee and the bialys (stuffed bagels) are amazing. Some other restaurants that we enjoy are Josselins, the Kalaheo Café, Postcards, Roy’s, Tip Top Café and Kauai Pasta just to name a few. There are some wonderful farmers markets here and fish markets (Hanalei Dolphin is the best) with their fresh local catches of the day. Ahi is, of course, an island favorite and can be found at many of the restaurants throughout the island. Whale watching is from December - March and is quite a sight to see. Some of the best golf courses in the US are located in Kauai. We work with some activity providers that provide personalized hikes and activities that are 'off the beaten path' and truly show you what Kauai has to offer.
