Booking this vacation rental was seamless, the owner was very responsive and made sure to get back to me within a day. We had ten girls who were staying in the house and the house was spacious enough for all of us. There were sufficient sleeping spaces, fold out couches and pull out beds that were very comfortable. The kitchen has an incredible view of the ocean, so it was wonderful cooking and we cooked A LOT! The hot tub and fire pit were very easy to work and we used them quite a bit throughout our stay. Overall, we had a wonderful weekend and all of the girls enjoyed staying at the house. The only criticism I have was the fact that the home was not ready for occupation when we arrived. We arrived about 10 minutes before check-in and the owner was still fixing a few broken item around the house and the house was pretty dusty. He left for an appointment and came back about 2 hours later to finish cleaning and fixing. He was apologetic so hopefully that won't happen with other folks. It can be pretty noisy as well during the day with the freeway and the train tracks being just right across from the house. We were prepared for that and so it didn't bother us much.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, sightseeing.

We came for a last-minute weekend getaway with friends. In all, we had 4 adults and 3 young children. During our short stay, we enjoyed the hot tub, the view of the ocean, outdoor fire pit, and the outdoor grill. The kids enjoyed watching movies on the huge TV and playing on the keyboard; we felt completely comfortable in letting them wander in the enclosed yard with the play structure, and the outdoor chalk so thoughtfully provided. The bedrooms and beds more than adequately accommodated our sleeping requirements. Jerry was solicitous in making sure we checked in ok, and was quick to respond to minor questions during our stay. He made sure we understood about the construction that would prohibit us walking to the beach, but we were fine with that, as most of our activities were in Carpinteria and Santa Barbara. Roadside noise from the 101 was noticeable, but became background noise after a couple of hours and did not prevent me from getting a good night's sleep. The sound of the train passing by was louder, but very exciting for the kids :)Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Hello Danielle, thank you for your nice review. We enjoyed having you and welcome you back anytime. B.r. Jerry and Diane

This is a very spacious house with plenty of sleeping quarters for a large number of guests. Huge kitchen and dining room, outdoor area, and hot tub. Had a group of 10 surfers here for a surf weekend and bbq and worked out perfectly. Great price and had everything we needed. Owner was very friendly and helpful. Our group would definitely rent here again. Only very minor things that could be improved would be a more functional stereo (it took some serious sleuthing to get it wired correctly...somebody had lots of wires crossed , and though there were outdoor speakers, we never figured out how to get them to work). Also, it will be great when the road construction on 101 is finished, the detour to get to La Conchita is a little annoying.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Hi Michael, thanks for the positive review and helpful feedback. The beach and surf are what our house and town are all about. I spent last weekend out at the house following up on suggested corrections. We loved having you and are happy that you enjoyed yourselves.

We were very disappointed with this rental house. It was described as a custom bali style home within walking distance to the beach. It was a haphazard remodel with a converted garage as the living room. We had 1 working shower/bath, due to a leak in the upstarirs bath. There was no walking to the beach due to construction of the walking path tunnel under the highway and train tracks. The highway and train noise was substantial, enough so that spending time outside was unpleasant at best. If all the doors and windows were shut tight it was bearable inside. The owner said he knew of construction but did not disclose this to us. I would not recommend this house to anyone.Owner response: My wife and I feel that his is a very unfair review and a bit of a surprise. We are not saying that this property is for everyone, but we disclose all aspects of this house in our description and many favorable reviews show an entirely different picture of our home. I recommend that prospective renters read the VRBO description carefully and ask questions. We provide our phone number and encourage you to call with questions and clarifications. In this case, the renters asked very few questions before renting and must have had a completely different expectation of the house. As a matter of record, this house was designed by Ramirez Design of Santa Monica and built new in 2001. It is a very unique custom home. The house is maintained well and in full working order. We have professional service to maintain the spa, yard, and home. The renovation of the pedestrian passage is ongoing and is a consideration, however, beaches are minutes away as an alternative. I feel bad that this couple was unhappy as our goal is to set a proper expectation so the renter has a wonderful time while staying in our home.

We had a small family get together there. This place is a nice retreat, especially for families with kids. We stayed there during 09/14th weekend and thoroughly enjoyed everything. Of course there's a bit of road noise outside, but you don't hear anything inside. Wish the main tunnel was complete by the time we arrived, it wasn't. We spent a day at the Carp beach and the other day we did sneak through the storm water tunnel. Our 3 year old had a lot of fun at the beach and in the backyard. Jacuzzi was a nice touch. Jerry was very responsive through out too. Exit from the highway was under construction, so we had to go round about couple of times coming from north. otherwise it was a very enjoyable time off for our family.Recommended for: Families with young children

We just spent a great weekend in this great house. We celebrated my dads' 70th birthday and his kids drove down to spend the day with him. The house was great for the kids, as it has a yard with a swing/play house area. The teenagers enjoyed beach access to play on the beach and the whole family enjoyed all the ammenities such as the outdoor kitchen, outdoor shower and the large hot tub. The property manager, Stephanie was great and very informative. We can't wait to go back.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed in Jerry and Dianes home in La Conchita over the 4th of July week and had a marvelous time. While the weather did not cooperate, there was so much to do in Ventura or Santa Barbara or just staying home and being together., It was fun!. There is alot of room inside and out. It is a great place for kids. We were 7 adults and one 18 month old. We went to Carpenteria to the beach daily, even when it was cold. This is a wonderful beach, not crowded at all.. We explored the town. whihc has alot of quaint shops and eateries. There is a wonderful children's park near the beach and THE SPot has fantastic banana milk shakes.. We even thought this would be a great place to retire!. Jerry is very helpful and responsive, as is Stephanie who introduced us to the house. It was a pleasure!!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our family throughly enjoyed your home! We had two toddlers and they couldn't get enough of the swingset. We loved that the entire home is fenced in so that the children could run and play. I can't say enough good things about this property. Amazing views, great yard with a gas fire pit we used everynight! The house is beautiful and has everthing you need even beach toys! Thank you so much Jerry! We can't wait to come back!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

Everything you need for a comfortable stay and then some. The house has comfy bed, full kitchen to make great meals, outside the property has several cozy seating areas, huge lawn to play in, fire pit, outdoor shower, etc. With the Pacific right there, you are steps from beach volleyball, swimming and surfing. We had a blast and loved every minute of our stay - thank you for renting this great home!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This was a great place for our purpose, which was a gathering of 3 older couples. It had everything provided that we needed, comfortable beds, and gathering places indoors and out. The owner and property manager were very prompt and helpful in responding to any questions (there were some owners on VRBO who did not even respond to initial inquiries). The Cliff House restaurant down the road (south) was very convenient and we had two meals there because we liked the outdoor seating so much. We would definitely stay here again if we stay in this area.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

We stayed at Jerry's house in La Conchita, a funky old surf-oriented neighborhood just south of Rincon Point. The house was beautifully maintained, spacious and modernized, with a great yard that the kids and dog especially loved. Hot tub worked perfectly - quick to heat up. Yes, there is traffic noise from the highway, and you can see it from the house, but that was all clearly disclosed and not at all a problem for us. We looked at a few properties that allowed pets in Carp, but this one was so much more attractively priced. We didn't mind the 5 min drive into Carp at all (15 min to SB). The best part was the beach just on the other side of the highway -- you access it via a 4-1/2 foot tall tunnel under the highway! A bit hard on the back, but it's all part of the charm of La Conchita - a real throwback community. Thanks, Jerry! We will rent it again someday!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners.

The house is nice and kitchen appliances, outside grill functional, convinient, fire pit outside was good for sitting out at night. The neighbors are friendly. Owner fixed the WI-FI and cable TV by calling the company as soon as we reported the problem to him. It's right off the highway so you hear the noise and see the cars when you are outside, but when inside don't hear it since good insulated windows. The table with benches at outside patio was fun for morning coffee or BBQ since it is right next to grill. The only negative was that access to the ocean is limited. Caltrans is supposed to build a walking tunnel under hiway sometime in the future and the existing rain drainage tunnel is only 4-5 feet tall and was challenging for some members of our group who refused to go into. Much safer if you drive to the beach nearby. Overall good stay.Recommended for: Families with young children, sightseeing.

Jerry the place was great, it had everything we needed to have a great time. The kitchen and it’s appliances were very updated and easy to use and the outdoor fireplace was a nice place to sit around at night and in the morning for that morning coffee. There was more than enough room to accommodate the two families that stayed there and the ocean views from the kitchen and upstairs room were perfect. Nothing beats waking up and seeing the ocean first thing. Also the location is great, we ended up going into town about three times and it being only a five minute drive was perfect. Oh and the play place/swing set in the front yard was loads of fun for our children. Again thanks for allowing us to share your home for a few days and we look forward to returning to it.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

Wow ---- That is all I can say to sum up this home. The location is wonderful, the neighbors are great people, Stephanie was great, and the home is amazing. This is a beautiful home that the pictures on the site do not do it justice. You pull up to the home you are greeted by gorgeous South Pacific architecture on the large deck overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Once in the kitchen, with all the amenities of home and more, the granite counters and stainless steel appliances are great for cooking. Out back is another outdoor kitchen, perfect for gathering with friends on the backyard deck or around the private firepit. The beds are comfortable and plenty for everyone. I would recommend to everyone and hope to stay again. The beach is great with the tunnel under the highway, and the new tunnel will be even better. P.S. --- For anyone that Google Maps or Google Earths and sees the highway near by, the sound is barely noticeable outside and in the home you can't hear a thing, amazing insulation and windows.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
