Spend your relaxing beach getaway in our recently remodeled and updated 2 bedroom, 1 bath property on the water in San Diego's unique beach community of Ocean Beach. This lovely space includes a private, completely fenced back yard with patio and gas grill, off-street covered parking ,private secure WiFi, and quick Dog Beach access. There is never an extra charge for pets!
For your comfort and protection, ALL linens (sheets, pillowcases, mattress pads, zippered pillow covers, bedspreads, throws and throw rugs) are clean and fresh for each new guest. This is much higher than the industry standard, but do you want your kids and pets on anything less?
This beautiful apartment begins with a cozy living room just off your carport. It features cushy recliners, an electric fireplace/heater, and a 32' flat screen TV with DVD player and ATT Uverse HDTV plus DVR. The credenza contains beach towels and there are beach bags and hats for your use by the back door so you can grab them on your way to the beach!
Down the hall is the larger of the 2 bedrooms with a queen sized bed, 21' flat screen TV with DVR access and a large closet complete with an assortment of fresh robes and slippers. There are extra bed linens in the chest of drawers, extra blankets/pillows in closet.
Further down the hall is the apartment's spa bathroom complete with tub/rain shower, vanity space for 2 and a
fabulous glass pedestal sink. The shower is lined in slate style ceramic tile trimmed in slate and limestone and the vanity area and back splash are glass mosaic tile. There are plenty of fluffy towels to pamper you and a powerful hair dryer.
The metal dining table sits under a casual nickel chandelier and seats 6. The adjacent lounge has a full sized sofa bed hidden in a plush micro suede couch, and another flat screen TV with DVR access. This area can seat 6 comfortably. Also in this open area is a brand new kitchen with glass doored cupboards, a very deep stainless steel sink (for bathing small dogs and children?) and new stainless range and refrigerator. The countertops are Italian porcelain tile. There is also a pull-out pantry, as well as dishes, glasses and crystal stemware for at least 8 people.
The smaller bedroom houses adult extra-long bunk beds along with a built in desk and another closet complete with fresh robes and slippers. Its window looks out onto the patio and back yard.
Walk out the back door and you will find a covered patio and landscaped 'beachy' back yard covered by shade sails and decorated with old surfboards. There is an outdoor lounge area with comfy chairs. The back gate opens onto a paved path, the San Diego River estuary (a wetlands sanctuary for birds such as blue herons, snowy egrets, pelicans and osprey) and then the beaches. The beach on the left is for people and the beach on the right is a unique off-leash area for dogs to run, swim and socialize!
All beds have Select Comfort Sleep Number mattresses (queen with dual controls) so you can adjust the firmness to any degree and as often as you like. These mattresses can also be dry cleaned as necessary. The pillows are encased in hypoallergenic covers that are washed after each use.
The simple, tasteful decor features original works by local painters and sculptors. The dog-proof, kid-proof floors are concrete which has been stained and sealed and are textured to be slip-resistant. The throw rugs are washed after every use. To help circulate the ocean breezes, there are ceiling fans in every area of the apartment.

This condo is exactly as described. Perfect place for dog and owner. Our dog Peaches is still pouting since we came back home. My husband and I got lots of exercise walking. Just go out back gate and up to walking,biking,jogging path overlooking the beach. Don't have to walk on beach. Beautiful view from path. We did go down to dog beach a few times a day. Friendly people who clean up after their dogs and Peaches made so many friends! Had many conversations with friendly dog owners. Can't always be sure about cleanliness when renting dog-friendly units but this was very clean and Brita supplies everything you need. Loads of towels and furniture covers. Comfortable sleep number beds. Kitchen fully equipped. Walking distance to restaurants, 7-11. Short drive to Ralph's grocery and there's also a Grocery Outlet same area. We were involved in car accident while there and Brita could not have been more accommodating! We will stay here again. Thanks Brita!

Loved it so much the first time we went back for more. Only this time we had 4 dogs in tow. The weather was less cooperative , which could have proved a disaster given that there were now 4 dogs constantly dripping wet. However thanks to Brita's huge supply of dog towels and sheets we were able to keep drying them off without any problem. (Apologies again tho' Brita for doubling your laundry load). But apart from the aforementioned, we again had a fabulous time in this wonderful condo, and spent hours watching them all play on dog beach. We mostly self-catered (which was very easy given that the kitchen has everything you could need), but there are some fabulous restaurants in easy walking distance, some of which have dog friendly patio's. This really is a condo worth staying in, the details are accurate, and the photo's don't do it full justice. Brita is an absolute gem. So thanks..... and I hope we'll be allowed to stay again!! Clare

Fantastic. Beautiful. I could go on with the superlatives but you get the idea. Place is just gorgeous. Garden is lovely. That short walk to dog beach meant my woofers went every day and we stayed for hours, because it's so much fun to watch all the dogs having a ball. I am amazed that every piece of bedding is washed before the next people arrive, and I mean everything, right down to the mattress protectors. Brita provides every thing you could possibly need (including dog towels). Bo Beau restaurant is a must and is 2 mins walk ( as are several other restaurants). I can't wait to go again. We loved the location! We walked to the beach every day. Dog beach is the best for dog lovers. The fenced in back yard was great. It was a quiet place but there was a small dog next door that barked at everything (not a deal breaker). The place was clean and had everything we needed to be comfortable. We would highly recommend this VRBO!! Thank you.

I'm so sorry you were bothered by a neighbor's dog. Unfortunately, not all vacationers are as courteous and respectful of others as you and your family are. My neighbors on both sides also have vacation rentals which welcome dogs, and once in a while they have a guest who does not keep their dog(s) quiet. If that ever happens again, please let me know immediately so I can speak with the owners and clear up the annoyance. I know if can really grate on one's nerves. Hello Brita. My wife made all the arrangements but i wanted to write the review of our stay. First of all, we didnt even know you were there. It was so quiet/peaceful, felt like we owned the whole property. I really liked all the modern fixtures in the kitchen/bathroom, the way you decorated all the spaces, the backyard, EVERYTHING was so clean! We were very, very comfortable. Out the back gate we could go left and take our dogs to the beach but an added bonus for us was to the right there are 7 ball fields. (Our daughter plays comp softball so we were able to practice and not worry about getting a field. At home we have to hop a fence to practice as most ball fields are locked up). We enjoyed the beach everyday, which is about a 30 second walk from your backyard--in fact your location is about 6 minutes away from everything we liked to do! We rented bicycles, (very inexpensive-they deliver and pick up), our last day and rode all over the neighborhood. We came to the conclusion that we would love living there! We appreciate the fact that you didnt have any hidden fees, what we paid is what we paid. Thank you so much, we cant wait to come back-are already planning on when we can get away from work. (Speaking of work, i have to work off the 9 lbs i gained from eating at Surf Riders Pizza almost everyday, it was sooo good!).

Although the listing description spells out all of the amenities of this property, you really have to see it to believe it. From the moment we walked in the front door we felt at home and at peace. This trip was a last minute decision and Brita was MORE than accomodating and squeezed us in. Having our 8 year old labrador with us is always the most important part of any vacation we take and she absolutely loved this place! She's still smiling..... She had her own sheets and towels provided for her and didn't have to worry about getting anything sandy because the floors are artistically formed poured concrete! The best feature of the decor are the numerous wimsical and colorful paintings done by Brita herself. We were within walking distance to town and numerous wonderful restaurants and of course, outside the gated outdoor haven was the massive Dog Beach where the dogs romp and play off leash. There is also a paved walkway which goes on for miles. I would highly recommend this property to anyone who is desirous of a beach getaway ESPECIALLY if you have a furry child with you. Thank you for a memorable stay.

The pictures don’t do it justice. We loved it! Everything was clean, well decorated and absolutely cozy. Just like we wanted it. The owners are great and very accommodating (Specially when you locked yourself out of the house while your husband is taking a nap). Thanks so much Richard! The location is perfect close to everything and the kitchen is AMAZING! You could find everything you need when you’re ready to cook and serve meals. I felt in love with the beautiful bathroom and gorgeous floor all around this beautiful OB House. We've loved every memory and hope to go back real soon. We had a great time! Everything was as Brita portrayed it. It was wonderful to be able to take our dog and go right out the back door to the beach. It was quiet and clean and Brita was a wonderful hostess.. Loved the art on the walls! We hope to go again sometime. One suggestion I would make would be to include a large skillet- breakfast would be easier to make. I also wished for a gallon container for juice, etc. - I picked one up and donated it to the cause when I left! But these 2 things are small potatoes and only add to the adventure of taking a vacation! Close to everything you need- Sea World, Old Town San Diego, Mission Beach Amusement Park. Would definitely recommend this condo!!

After looking at many properties in the Ocean Beach area, we chose this one and we are so happy we did! Everything Brita described in her web site was right on. We had a dog, so having a private yard that was fenced in was important. The home was very comfortable and had all the amenities needed for our stay. The greatest joy for us, was walking right out the back gate to the beach! It truly was that close, which was fantastic and made the trip that much more enjoyable. We loved being able to take our dog to the beach at any time with such ease. After a quick trip to the store for some staples, we never had to get in the car the rest of the week. Everything from shopping to dining to entertainment is well within walking distance which added to the pleasure of our trip. Thanks Brita for your hospitality, we will certainly be back!

This condo was perfect for us, our kids, and our three large (but well-behaved) dogs. The condo was well provisioned and in a perfect location. Brita was so hospitable and so nice to our family and our dogs. We loved Dog Beach and I highly recommend staying here if you want the easiest, most comfortable stay at Dog Beach!

Possible early check-in or late checkout available. Check with management. SMOKING This is a NON SMOKING unit. Please smoke outside away from the building. PETS -Pets are welcome in rental property only with prior approval. All pets must be leashed at all times unless inside the unit or fenced back yard, or on Dog Beach . Pet owners are responsible for cleaning up any/all pet refuse. Pets are not allowed on furniture at any time without the furniture's being covered with the drop sheets provided. Any evidence of pets on furniture may incur extra cleaning fees. All pets must be up-to-date on rabies vaccinations and all other vaccinations. Heart worm prevention is highly recommended. All pets are to be treated with Advantage or similar topical flea and tick repellent three (3) days prior to arrival. Fleas and ticks are rampant in this area and can cause harmful/fatal illness to humans and pets. All items above are the sole responsibility of the pet owner. The property owners assume no responsibility for illness or injury that humans or pets may incur while on the premises. CHILDREN Children are welcome! Please supervise your children at all times. We have tried to make O.B. Beach Place as safe as possible, but the ultimate responsibility rests with you. CONDITION OF PROPERTY Every effort is made to ensure that the property is clean (including all linens, rugs, cookware, dishes, furniture, fixtures, floors, robes and slippers) and that all appliances are in good working order. It is the renter's responsibility to notify owner of any problems with cleanliness or performance. Every effort will be made to clean, repair or replace problem items as soon as possible, with reasonable accommodations made to renters at owner's discretion. This is a real home, and problems will happen. These are never a reason for cancellation or a refund. DAMAGE/RESERVATION DEPOSIT – A credit card imprint with a $500 Damage Limit is required at check-in. If there are no damages, there will be no charge and the credit card slip will be returned to you or destroyed when you leave, provided the following provisions are met: No damage is done to unit or its contents beyond normal wear and tear. No charges are incurred due to contraband, pets, collection of rents or services rendered or purchased during the stay (including movies & Pay Per View). All debris, rubbish, pet refuse and discards are placed in outside cans, and dishes are washed, dried and put away. The refrigerator is emptied and cleaned. All keys are left on the table and the unit is locked, including exit doorknob buttons. All charges incurred during the stay are paid prior to departure. No linens are lost or damaged. No early check-in or late check-out without pre-approval by management. The renter is not evicted by the owner (or representative of the owner), or local law enforcement. GAS BARBEQUE There is a gas barbeque available for renters' use. It is your responsibility to notify owners when the propane tank is empty, and to leave the grill turned off, cleaned and covered after every use. PAYMENT – An advance payment equal to 50% of the rental rate is required at the time of booking. The remaining 50% is due 30 days prior to check-in. CANCELLATIONS – A refund minus a 15% cancellation fee is given with cancellations made before the final payment. After the final payment no refunds are given with cancellation, So if you have any concerns about needing to cancel all or any part of your reservation for any reason after the final payment is made, we strongly advise purchasing separate trip insurance. (See TRAVEL INSURANCE below). MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY – The maximum number of occupants is limited to five (5) persons. MINIMUM STAY – This property requires a two (2) night minimum stay. Longer minimum stays may be required during summer and holiday periods. If a rental is taken for less than the minimum stay, the renter will be charged the minimum stay rate in effect. INCLUSIVE FEE – Rates include initial cleaning, a one-time linen & towel setup and paper goods setup. Monthly renters will receive weekly linen service. There are no extra fees or hidden charges. NO DAILY HOUSEKEEPING SERVICE – While linens and bath towels are included in the unit, daily maid service is not included in the rental rate. Housekeeping services may be arranged through the management for an additional charge of $25/hr. There are beach towels, drop/cover sheets, and dog towels in the unit. There will be a $20 charge for all missing towels. RATE CHANGES – Rates subject to change without notice until deposit is received. FALSIFIED RESERVATIONS – Any reservation obtained under false pretense will be subject to forfeiture of advance payment, deposit and/or rental money, and the party will not be permitted to check in. Named renter(s) must be present during the stay. WRITTEN EXCEPTIONS – Any exceptions to the above mentioned policies must be approved in writing in advance. PARKING – There is one carport parking space. Additional parking is limited to street parking only. Be sure to check the signs for NO PARKING on street sweeping days. Any illegally parked cars are subject to ticheting and/or towing; applicable fines/towing fees are the sole responsibility of the vehicle owner. FIREPLACES – The fireplace is an electric fireplace. It has no flame. It can be operated for appearance only or with a built-in heater. Please be sure this appliance is turned off when you go to bed or leave the unit. WATER San Diego County is currently under water restrictions. Outside water can be used for plants, car and dog washing only for 10 minutes between 6-10 a.m. And 6-10 p.m on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Fines for misuse are the sole responsibility of the renter. STORM POLICY/ROAD CONDITIONS – No refunds will be given for storms. QUIET - Because this is a residential neighborhood and not a resort, please respect that most of your neighbors are not on vacation. They and their children need to go to sleep so they can attend work/school the next day. Also, please be aware that voices carry easily on the ocean breezes and the homes are quite close together. Quiet outdoor conversations are recommended after 10 p.m. TRAVEL INSURANCE – We highly recommend all renters purchase travel insurance, available from many companies online. We do not offer, or make any commission on, travel insurance. This property is privately owned; the owners are not responsible for any accidents, injuries or illness that occur while you, your family, pets or guests are on the premises. The owners are not responsible for the loss of personal belongings or valuables or pets of the renters or their guests. By accepting this reservation, it is agreed that all renters are expressly assuming the risk of any harm arising from their use of the premises to themselves or others whom they invite to use the premises.
