  Overall, we were pleased with this rental. I’ve given it four stars instead of five because some of the attention to detail that would make it a five-star rental was lacking. The house was clean and the AC turned down before we arrived, the bathrooms were adequately supplied with towels and soap, and there were a washer and dryer with laundry soap provided -- a nice touch. The owner was generally available by phone and courteous in his dealings with us. The master bedroom was the most comfortable. The second bedroom has a double bed but it was in the corner of the room -- not a problem for us, as only one person used it. If there had been two people using it, we would have had to move the bed and would have wanted a second nightstand and lamp. I can’t speak to the adequacy of the remaining beds, as we did not use them. If you are small in size and want to sit in the living room, you might find (as we did) that the couches are rather large and deep. Also, the only TV in the house (in the living room) was a small, older tube set -- not great for watching movies. The location is centrally located and good in terms of being able to drive to various places in Corpus. The neighborhood is quiet and OK for morning or evening walks, but there’s not much in the way of stores or attractions that you can reasonably walk to. A Walmart and Walgreens are short drives away; we eventually located a good grocery store (Sprouts) that was fairly easily reached via the 358 expressway. (An information sheet on shopping options, especially grocery and liquor stores, would have been much appreciated.) We used the kitchen to prepare most of our meals, and for the most part we found what we needed, but there were some annoying oversights. There was no corkscrew, the microwave worked but had a faulty display screen that made it hard to time things, there were no matches to light the grill, and the dishes were an odd assortment of different styles and sizes. Also, if we had had a larger group, we would have wanted more silverware. We’ve stayed in other VRBO places before, and we know that kitchen setups vary quite a bit, but it’s the houses that are well equipped for cooking and eating that are the nicest rentals. I will say that it did have a very large refrigerator with a working icemaker, which was convenient.

  Our perspective---In the last 10 years, we have spent more than 100 nights in some 20 vacation rentals in 12 states and Canadian provinces. Our stay in Corpus Christi---three adults, four nights (June 21-24, 2012). House has been updated throughout and nicely landscaped with excellent outside lighting in an older residential neighborhood that is not being maintained as well as is this house. Location is approximately 8 minutes from downtown, 10 from beach, 6 from bay. Pluses include good air conditioning, comfortable king-sized bed in master, updated kitchen with excellent refrigerator, stove and coffee maker and adaquate cookware, WIFI, large rear-projection HD TV in living area with expanded basic and Showtime, new front-load washer and dryer with laundry supplies, built-in ironing board, dining area for four plus additional bar stools, comfortable seating for eight in TV/living area, covered car port for two cars, numerous windows--all with shades. Minuses: Kitchen--dishwasher and microwave oven, reported as not working in a February review of this property, were still not working in late June. Inadaquate lighting, flatware and cereal/soup bowls. No blender, hand mixer. wine opener, strainer, dish towels, oven mitts or plastic food storage containers. Bedrooms---very few clothes hangers combined; master TV did not work; no chest of drawers in second bedroom. Bathrooms---there was no hair dryer in either bath; detached guest bath was large with good counter space and lighting. master bath was small with good medicine cabinet but no counter space; shower sprayed water over sliding glass doors into the main bathroom; hand and bath soap were provided, but not shampoo or conditioner. Outside---covered patio with nice table and chairs; grill was filthy. In summary, this property is adaquate for a short-term stay for as many as four people, but not in its current condition at the rate charged. However with a little thought, relatively small expenditure and TLC, it could be an outstanding vacation rental.

  My family and I stayed at this wonderful home for 4 nights and 5 days we enjoyed every minute of it. The pictures of this home do not do it justice. Plenty of sleeping areas the first night there were eight of us the rest of the time there was 6 of us and everybody slept comfortably. Nice big rooms with four kids we loved all the extra room the little ones could go to bed on time while the older kids and adults could stay up. My wife loved the jetted tub. Very quiet neighborhood. Four right hand turns from the driveway and 5 minutes of driving and you are on the water. We can't say enough good things about this home. We are already planning next years vacation and this home is where we plan on staying.

  The house is very nice and roomy. The kitchen area was large, clean and modern and we appreciated having a washer/dryer to use so we didn't have to pack so much. There were plenty of beds for our family of 6 and plenty of space which is nice on a long vacation. The off-street covered parking was nice too. For a city of 300,000 people, the location was nice and quiet and the orientation of the streets around the nearby park made fast traffic impossible anyway. We were 15 minutes from the downtown harbor area or Padre Island which is what we expected. Anything you could ever want to eat or shop for is also within a 15 minute drive of the house, you could say it's very centrally located. The exterior of the house and lawn looked good as well and I can safely say this is one of the nicer properties in the neighborhood. As far as attractions and dining, the aquarium and USS Lexington, were definitely worth seeing. Pier 99 and Blackbeard's were good places to eat in that area. We also enjoyed the dolphin watching boat ride and bay fishing in Port Aransas which is a nice little tourist town. On the way to Padre Island is a restaurant named "Doc's" which is right on the water by the big bridge. The food was great and the sunsets are spectacular, highly recommended! The only disappointment I had was the nearby park which was overgrown and poorly maintained. Overall, though, this was a very nice property and a comfortable place to stay. Thanks to Charles and Sharon for sharing your home with us! We would definitely stay here again.

I appreciate your feedback regarding the park. The City used to do a great job maintaining this area and I noticed it needed some work the last time I was in town as well...I will call them so they can hopefully bring it back to the state we remember it from our childhood...it's very convenient to the house and is a great place for kids to burn off a little energy.   loved It!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the house was everything the description said it was and more. We were only there for the weekend but could have easily stayed longer. The house is in a nice quiet neighborhood. The livingroom is huge with comfortable couches and a big screen tv with Bose surround. The bedrooms and the bathrooms were lovely and the kitchen with beautiful. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you needed to cook and clean up afterwards. The backyard was nice, had a patio set that we sat at every morning and every evening we were there. Overall, this property is a home away from home and I will be coming back!!

  We rented the property for 103 days and it was per fact for us. It was right by where we worked and right by the water in a quite neighborhood. It was fully stocked and nice and clean. Had a awesome back yard for bbqing and relaxing. We would recommend this property to everyone. You don't have to drive far to get to any place you want. The house was totally redone with stainless steal appliances and with nice front load washer and dryer. They even supplied the the detergent and everything you could ever think of. My wife and I felt right at homed I give it a extra per fact rating on I am going to rent it again on my next business trip.

  This place was per fact for the 7 of us that stayed here. It was stocked with everything you could possibly ever need and the owner was very nice. When we walked in we couldn't believe how gorgious the furniture was. It also had stainless steel appliances that really were impressive. The house itself was centrally located and just minutes to anything you wanted and a park so close that we could see our children playing and having a great time from the from yard. It also had a air matteress that was per fact for the kids to move around the house as we needed them too. The bathrooms came equipped with special gift bags for everyone. The place was very clean inside and outside. It was the best vacation we have ever had in corpus. The stove alone had 6 gas burners that made cooking our fish we caught while we were there easy. We BBQ 2 nights also and the gas grill gas so easy and had a sitting patio that was covered that overlooked the backyard and it was so peaceful. My husband actually took a nap in the grass because it was so plush, green and thick, we haven't seen grass that nice in years. We liked it so much that we booked it again for next year. It was well worth every penny and per fact for us. We had the beach just minutes away in one direction and the downtown museums and shopping in the other direction. It was just truly impressive and we just loved the owners, they say people in Texas are friendly, they were a perfect example of that good old Texas friendliness, it was so fun to have that friendly welcome.

  We rented this place for a 6 week period. This property is not as described on the web. There is 1 bathroom and 1 en-suite shower room. Having a shower in the main bathroom brought a new meaning to "shower with a friend". We got to shower with the people who were in before us; at least, we got to shower with their hairs. The wash basin was blocked and when I freed the flow with a toilet plunger a very large hair-ball was dislodged Overall the place was very poorly cleaned, dirt was left in the bathroom, the fridge was dirty as was the microwave. Oh-the microwave - it was broken and remained so throughout our stay. There was a dish washer (not mentioned in the description) but there was a note from the owner saying it had a mind of its own and suggested we did not use it. We didn't. The kitchen was poorly equipped; 1 kitchen knife, no grill tray. 2 living areas ? - one was equipped with a blow-up bed as the sole furniture and the front door opened directly into this room; 3 couches - I guess 1 was on vacation, there are only 2. There was a patio set and a bbq. Every seat on the patio set was ripped and unsafe, the bbq made the bathrooms look clean. We reported most of these deficiencies to the owner who told me the place was clean. How she could determine this from a distance of approximately 120 miles I do not know. She also said she would get additional knives for the kitchen - she hasn't yet 10 days later. The owner also said the microwave would be repaired - it isn't. When I pointed out that the living room was in fact a bedroom and the front door opened directly into it, I was told that "this is Texas, nobody uses the front door". Pity nobody told US mail, UPS and FedEx as all 3 made the mistake of making deliveries to the front door, obviously non-Texas people. With respect to location; downtown is 6 miles way, not 3 minutes as claimed. No vacuum, 1 set of sheets for a 6 week stay. We left. If you want a comfortable, clean place to stay - stay elsewhere.

  Owner response: Dear Renters, Sorry we could not make you happy, but the review that you wrote is completely a lie you told to my viewers. Although you were the first complaint we have ever had, your complaints were investigated and were found to be false on every subject you complained about by the investigators. The fact that there was no vaccumm, the fact still remains there is no carpet in the whole house it is all tile floors in which a broom, dust pan, and mop are all furnished with the top of the line products. There is also plenty of sheet and blankets and there is a washer and drier in case you missed that extra feature, which would be located in that large laundry room with the folding area, builtin ironing board and front load washer and drier set and cabinets that have all the extra linen and blankets in it. You have to actually open the cabinet doors to see whats in there which clearly you did not. As far as UPS and the postal service, that is in fact a lie and that was all you could come up with... That's too funny. And by the way, if they did come by, then where is the mail? This is the great state of Texas, not Canada, it's not our first rodeo, Canadians... always expecting a free handout.
