Luxury Cabin Near Starved Rock. Most Secluded Area in Resort!
- Minimum stay:N/A
- Internet:No
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
PLEASE NOTE: Waterpark passes are not available with this unit, nor can they be purchased. As such, we prefer our guests are over 16 years of age. Our cabin is ideal for adult guests looking to take advantage of nature's abundant amusements at a truly exceptional discount.
Welcome to our cabin, featuring over 2,800 square feet of woodland luxury wedged only minutes between the breathtaking trails and waterfalls of Starved Rock and Matthiessen State Parks.
Our cabin sleeps up to 12 people and offers open space galore, perfect for get-togethers. The great room looks out to a wooded wonderland, and features two convertible sofas, two rockers, and a plush captain’s chair. The fully-applianced kitchen has a breakfast bar and overlooks the dining area's large inviting table. Double doors lead to the private upper level master bedroom with vaulted ceiling, fireplace, whirlpool tub, and separate bathroom. Two additional oversized bedrooms are located in the lower level, including a second master bedroom with two queen size beds, fireplace, whirlpool tub, and separate bathroom. The third bedroom boasts two sets of bunks, each with a twin upper and queen lower bed. Another full bathroom and laundry room with full-sized washer/dryer can be found in the lower level.
Perhaps the best feature of our cabin, however, is its location in the westernmost section of the resort. Tucked on a private cul-de-sac, the building backs to the wildlife preservation, making a perfect retreat after a long day of hiking. Spend some time relaxing on the deck (complete with seating), while taking in the many sights and sounds of nature. Here, I’ve enjoyed an abundance of wildlife: deer, raccoon, groundhogs…even a bobcat! And for you birdlovers: pileated woodpeckers, sapsuckers, wrens, nuthatches, owls, warblers, flycatchers, tanagers...the list is endless.
It’s the perfect environment to unwind, enjoy, and make lasting memories with friends and family. We hope to see you soon!

We arrived at the cabin and everything was as we expected it; very clean and organized. It was fully equipped with everything we needed to prepare our meals (except groceries of course) and it even had a DVD player where our grand children watched movies and stayed cool for the 4 days we were there. We were also pleasantly surprised at the close distance from our cabin to the indoor water park were the kids spent the whole day enjoying themselves. We really recommend this place.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children.

The villa was very clean and roomy. The bedrooms were large and the beds comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed and we cooked five meals there. We stayed for three nights at the resort. We went to the Enchanted Forest the kids ages 4 and 2 had a good time. We also went to Starved Rock state park to hike and had the Sunday brunch at Starved Rock Lodge it was delicious. The villa was just perfect. In the area I wish there was more to do or maybe an outdoor pool at the resort but we had a great time . The owner Susan was very helpful with ideas and refunded my deposit the very next dayRecommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children.

The listing was exactly as described (except even better). The place was very clean and extremely well maintained. Perhaps the greatest part of the rental experience experience was the communication between the owner prior to the rental. She was extremely helpful in answering questions and was VERY prompt in returning the deposit after the rental was checked. I could not more highly recommend this property.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children.

This home is beautifully appointed and has wonderful open spaces for family gatherings. The bedrooms and bathrooms are all large and very comfortable. We stayed for 6 nights and felt very at home. Beautiful outdoor areas. The owner was extremely accommodating and kind. During our time there kids ages 13-21 enjoyed the indoor amusement park! The owner was very repsonsive to emails and calls regarding the home in advance of our stay to ensure our stay was exactly what we needed and wanted. I expect to stay here again next year over the holidays!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Eleven of us went down to the cabin for a weekend and had an amazing time. The cabin is very large and spacious and just as the pictures show. My friends and i do a yearly cabin trip and decided on a closer cabin this year as we are from Chicago and usually go to WI Dells. We were very happy with the cabin and the beautiful surrounding nature. We always do a big pre thanksgiving dinner and we found all pots n pans needed to do this. We did take our own turkey roaster and our own blender and good thing as we didn't find a blender in the kitchen. We also ran out of toilet paper but that was on the very last day on our way out so no biggie. Overall we loved the cabin and will most likely stay here again. We went hiking at Starved Rock which is less than a 5 minute drive. Amazing hike and amazing scenery. Loved it all.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We rented this cabin in August as a weekend getaway to celebrate our son's birthday, and we had an awesome time! We let our sons invite some friends, and there were ten of us in all. My husband and I were very impressed with the size of the cabin, and we loved the northwoods decor. The main floor with the open kitchen, log dining table and great room was huge. At no time did we ever feel cramped. The kids loved the downstairs bedroom with the oversized log bunkbeds. The upstairs master bedroom felt like a honeymoon suite with the king-sized bed, whirlpool tub and fireplace. We felt like we were in northern Wisconsin, yet we were only an hour from home. We will definitely rent this property again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We rented this property due to its proximity to a couple of state parks and it was terrific. The place was lovely and really exceeded our expectations. For one thing, it was hotel-like in the way it was stocked: nice and ample soft towels, pillows, even various soaps and shampoos in the bathrooms. The kitchen had everything we needed. Each room had a television/DVD/remotes. It was incredibly clean, deep clean, and new looking with a lodge theme. Small, but cozy balcony where we hung out early in the morning. Our two and four year old LOVED it, as did their grandmothers. There is a combination of beds and pull out couches. The beds are super comfortable. The couches are fine for pull out couches and were already made up with linens. Nice bathrooms/jacuzzi baths. The owner clearly states that water park passes aren't included in the rental. We didn't realize that you can't even buy passes at the Grizzly Bear Lodge as a renter of this vacation unit, which was a bit disappointing, but the hiking was much more important than the water park to us anyway. In other words, you must be staying in the lodge in order to purchase water park passes. They don't sell tickets to the general public. The owner was fantastic and helpful and within hours of our arrival back in Chicago, she had already e mailed to say that our deposit was being refunded in full. This place would be great for a family reunion or a group of couples. We only had 6 people so we had more than ample space. We could have easily invited along another family (or two). It's big and has nice and open common space with a kitchen that faces the dining room/living room, making socializing while cooking easy. The kitchen is modern. It does sleep up to 18, but some of those are pull out couches. I would be most comfortable having 12 - 14 people here. 18 would work, but some would be sleeping in common areas. I really can't say enough good things about this place. Clean, attractive, has all of the things you need, is close to Starved Rock (2 - 3 minutes) and other state park locations (about 5 - 6 minutes), is family friendly (miniature golf, playground, bean bag toss) and we hope to go back again soon.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway, families with young children.

About the owner: My husband and I truly love the Starved Rock area and visit often. Both of us like running, so there’s nothing like stepping out our door onto some of Illinois’ most coveted trails. We are also avid cyclists and enjoy being only moments away from the I&M trail system, and less than a half hour drive to the Hennepin Canal. I also enjoy birding, which keeps me plenty busy given the area’s diverse eco-systems. And can’t forget to mention the local golf is great! We like to sneak in a round whenever we get a chance.
Why the Owner Chose Utica:
Starved Rock is quite simply the most perfect weekend getaway for us. It is still hard to believe that just over an hour’s drive can welcome us to such an amazingly beautiful and serene destination. Of course the trails allure most of us, but there are plenty of opportunities for everyone: horseback riding, canoeing, boating, fishing, star gazing, or just taking time to relax with friends and family. We love the local shopping, so be sure to stop by the quaint little town of Utica which is full of charm (as well as chocolate!). While there, try a local tasting at one of two wine shops and then pick up some truly gourmet popcorn. Afterwards, don’t forget to stop by Duffy’s for a great burger!
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
We love nature, we love the outdoors. There was no better location for us than to be tucked in the back of the resort with the wildlife preservation as our backdrop. Where wrens and phoebes sing their hearts out each morning, and the faint whinny of horses can be heard from the nearby stables. Lounging on the deck is perfect for relaxing moments. Grab a cup of coffee, close your eyes, and listen to nature’s symphony. There’s nothing like it.
