Ken and Fern were delightful hosts and very responsive to our needs. It almost felt like we were visiting friends or family. The suite was impeccably clean and clearly attention was paid to detail. Bikes were available for our use and the night we enjoyed the outdoor fireplace was romantic and private. Close to the marina and easy access to the pat bay highway gave us both a vacation hideaway and means to do business in Victoria. The landscaping was beautiful and it was a treat to explore the backyard of our b and b as much as any tourist attraction. I hope we have the opportunity to stay at Ken and Fern's again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We were pleasantly surprised upon our arrival at our VRBO. Ken and Fern greeted us upon our arrival. The pictures on their web page do not do it justice. This is the most beautiful garden and surrounding we have ever stayed. Not to mention the hospitality of Ken and Fern. They gave us lists of places to see, places to eat, and all types of information about Victoria and surrounding towns. We split our vacation between Vancouver and Victoria. The only mistake we made was we should have spent more time here than in Vancouver. If anyone is looking for a beautiful and relaxing place to stay, we recommend very highly. If we make it back to BC, no doubt this will definitely be our destination. We would give this VRBO the highest rating possible. Thanks Ken and Fern.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

When I inquired about the suite, I knew I was going to have a fantastic experience from the response I received from Ken. Both Ken and Fern were so helpful in assisting me with finding a place to rent a bicycle and maps to help me on my travels. They are excellent at Customer Service. I loved the cozy suite . .it was so personable! I felt very much at home! It was so nice to have a restful sleep after touring on the bicycle all day in this quiet little haven. The yard and suite are just like the pictures they show on the VRBO site. My purpose was to cycle everywhere. This location was PERFECT for this. This area is so bicycle friendly . . .and the Lochside trail is nearby. If I needed the bus . . it was just around the corner. The shopping in Sidney was excellent. And there are lots of places to go for a hike. I had a wonderful time and will definitely be back. Guaranteed!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

A TRULY MEMORABLE VISIT!

First, a little background describing our collective experience(s) traveling; My Spouse and I consider ourselves as being Well-Traveled. Both of us have visited and explored many countries over the years. During this time, we collected many memorable and a few not-so-memorable experiences thus making us Veterans and somewhat 'Gun-Shy' too when making travel plans, especially when deciding where we shall stay during the time of our visit. It was/is the decision we made,"Of where We are going to Stay" on our latest 'Weekend-Escape' that is the Sole and Compelling Motivator for us to write this Review! We begin with the declaration that absolutely EVERYTHING is as the Owners Fern and Ken Davey describe the Suite as providing and/or offering the Guests! This discovery was made almost immediately upon our arrival. Our Hosts, Fern and Ken were both present to greet us, introducing themselves and the Suite we were going to spend the weekend at. The Suite was exceptionally clean and each of the amenities we used, seemed new and easy to work. The Suite's lay out is open and very sunny providing a cheery atmosphere even though it was raining whilst there. The location was ideal for us because we were wanting seclusion yet for within a 20 minute drive radius, we could be in Victoria's China Town or attending a Concert, or enjoying a meal at a First Class Restaurant, of which there are many to choose from. Attractions such as the World Famous Butchart Gardens and the Butterfly Gardens are both just a short drive away as well. Our Hosts, Fern and Ken made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived until our departure. They both are encyclopedic in knowledge and willingly provided helpful tips about what to see and do during our visit. Summarizing this review, We certainly recommend this Property to our Family and Friends. As I wrote earlier, we are Seasoned Veterans of Travel and the greatest surprise arriving at a destination is,"No Surprise!" That our expectations made during the planning phase, were indeed met upon our arrival. This is one of those few Gems that actually exceeded our expectations and we are sincerely looking forward to our next Stay with Hosts Fern and Ken Davey! BRAVO, for it is clearly evident that from all of their careful planning and a lot of hard work too, They have successfully created a little Slice of Heaven and are willing to share it with those fortunate enough to experience it! Thank You, Pierre and MargotRecommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2001
About the owner: As long time residents of the Victoria area, Ken and Fern are very familiar with the many activities and amenities available in Victoria or anywhere on Vancouver Island. Ken is an avid sports fisherman and is very familiar with sports fishing opportunities. Fern has kayaked most of the Vancouver Island and adjoining Gulf Island waters. Evidence of our enjoyment of gardening is immediately visible especially from spring through fall. As your hosts, we take our cues from you. We are happy to provide Island information and respect that some guests prefer their privacy.
Why the Owner Chose Victoria:
The suite is located in a quiet neighbourhood across the street from a public pier that overlooks lovely Deep Cove harbour and the Saanich inlet.
The Unique Benefits at this Bed And Breakfast:
The property is located in a quiet area suited to many outdoor activities as well as having easy access to restaurants, shopping, transportation (ferries/ airport) and the Institute of Ocean Sciences. Many people enjoy kayaking in the calm waters of the Saanich Inlet and we were drawn to the rural charm of the area.
