  My husband and I rented this wonderful home near the mountain top over the week including Memorial Day. The house itself is lovely, spacious, and comfortable, with beautiful, restful views of the ridge below and the ridge across the valley--so lush and green, here at the beginning of summer! Access to the home was very easy--a nice drive up the mountain (which made us feel we were really getting away) and a very easy access up the nicely graded and well gravelled driveway. Very simple to get in and out, and far enough up the mountain to ensure privacy and beautiful quiet! The towns of Waynesville and Asheville, not too far away, had wonderful shops and great restaurants, when we went exploring. The days were warm and the nights and mornings, cool and great for sleeping. On the one day we had rain, it felt like we were enveloped in the clouds. We loved our stay and will definitely go back again next year. We highly recommend this property--and our conversations with the owners were most helpful, they are maintaining a beautiful, comfortable, well-cared for home.

  Horrible driveway entry issue. Neither one of our cars could make it on the 1st attempts - Its' an extremely steep & sharp turn to get into this property. It was perfect weather - no rain/snow etc. - The driveway needs to be re-graded and paved. The view from the main deck & living room is the power line view (last picture). And you get to be your own garbage man....the instructions for departure lets u know that......so u can travel home with it in your car or leave it and they charge you $5. per bag......only one trash can inside - NONE outside - and the county convenient stations u could take it to are closed on SUNDAYS....the day we were leaving. And the real estate company does NOT have a dumpster so u can have an option either. I say..."Hog Wash" on your trash charge, stop nickel and dimeing your guest...u have no solution but to leave it on Sundays !

  Owner response: We are always interested in feedback from our guests and hope that everyone will be happy with our house. Our apologies for a less than perfect stay. A Ridge View is up in the mountains at 4000 ft and while there is no trash pickup, the collection sites are very conveniently located. Because we typically rent the house from Saturday to Saturday, the "closed on Sunday collection sites" do not usually cause a problem. We are happy however, to accommodate vacationers who would like to spend a long weekend and depart on a Sunday. Wow!! We were surprised by the strong commentary on the driveway as we have never had any complaints. Certainly steep inclines come with the mountain location but we take feedback seriously and have contracted for an evaluation and potential modification of the driveway. We will certainly do any repairs necessary to make coming and going easier.

  We have been visiting A Ridge View for a number of years. The proximity to hiking, rafting, skiing, tubing, and nature in general, cannot be beat. It is also close to Maggie Valley and Waynesville and 1/2 hour from Asheville. There is so much to see and you can never be bored!

  Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

  I have been to this lovely house several times and absolutely love it. As a matter of fact, I am on my way there next week for a repeat experience. It is nestled in the mountains above the charming town of Waynesville...and only 20 minutes to Asheville. The hiking in the area is spectacular...and plenty more to do if you love the outdoors...I also love all the anitiquing in the area too... ...you can't beat the Sunsets sitting on the porch looking out on all the Mountains resding a book and drinking tea!

  Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.
