This big house on located on top of a hill in the Mission Hills neighborhood of San Diego. We are a few blocks away from the Old Town State Park and Presidio State Park. We are less than 10 minutes by car to the downtown San Diego Gaslamp area, the USS Midway, Petco Park where the San Diego Padres baseball team plays, Balboa Park, Sea World, Qualcomm Stadium where the Chargers play, Mission Beach, Ocean Beach and Coronado Beach. We are about 15 minutes from Tijuana, Mexico. The San Diego trolley in Old Town State Park is within walking distance of our home.
Our house is over 3,600 square feet with a large backyard with a patio, lawn and children's playgound area with swings and sandbox.
We love to rent to families visiting the San Diego area who want to take advantage of our house's location to many of the major tourist attractions in San Diego with the convenience of getting together with their family at a house and not at a hotel. Our house and backyard are one of the biggest in the neighborhood however we do not allow large events such as weddings or receptions at the house. It is not fair to our nice neighbors.
We like to limit the maximum occupancy of our house to 12 adults and 6 children but children under 6 years old would not count toward the maximum occupancy of 16. Please call us if you would like to discuss our max occupancy limit.
The lay out of the house is as follows:
- Our living room area has twelve foot high arched ceilings with a fireplace, flat screen TV above it, leather sofa sectional.
- The dining room has a table that is big enough to seat 14.
- The kitchen has all major appliances including a dishwasher, Jenn Air wall oven, Jenn Air wall microwave, Jenn Air stove top with over 60 sq feet of corian countertop. Coffeemaker, toaster oven, toaster and blender provided.
- The master bedroom downstairs has a king size bed with its own bathroom, with a shower stall and small bath tub. There is a TV in this room.
- The second bedroom downstairs has a king size bed.
- The downstairs bedroom off of the living room has a bunk bed with a full mattress on the bottom and a twin mattress on the top. This room also has a desk area with two ethernet connections for your computer. There is wireless throughout the house also.
- These 2 bedrooms share a hallway bathroom that has a shower and a one person Jacuzzi tub. The downstairs has hardwood floors throughout.
- You will take our carpeted stairs up to the second floor where we have 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The second floor of the house is fully carpeted. There is a washer and dryer in the upstairs hallway.
- The master bedroom upstairs has a king size bed with its own bathroom, shower stall and 2 person Jacuzzi Spa Tub. It also has its own balcony and a 42 inch flat screen TV.
- The second bedroom upstairs has a queen bed and a TV. This bedroom shares a full bathroom with the 3rd bedroom that has a full size bed and a sliding glass door that leads to a balcony with slight views of the ocean.
- The 4th bedroom has a queen bed and you step down 4 steps to the 5th bedroom which has a king bed with a high vaulted ceiling. There is a 27 inch TV in this room. These two rooms share a full bathroom.
Besides the playground and swing set in our backyard for the kids we have bikes, scooters and soccer balls, footballs and baseballs for them to play with. The backyard is fully fenced. We also have beach chairs, umbrellas and coolers at the house that you can use if you are planning to go to the beach which is a few miles away.

We were thrilled to find this property exactly as described and the pictures accurate. The property is not only clean and well maintained but has a cozy, homey atmosphere including all the ammenities needed.The location was close to the places we wanted to spend time while celebrating one of our group members 70th Birthday. The owners were very nice to communicate with and sent a lot of very helpful information to make our stay exceptional. We would definitely stay here again!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, families with young children.

Six fraternity brothers get together once a year for a "guys' weekend". This house was perfect!! This 8-bedroom house with five baths met all of our needs - lots of room, close to everything (airport, Old Town, tourist attractions, great restaurants, grocery stores) and in a very nice neighborhood. We've been using VRBO for several years and have been all over the country - and this was, by far, the best place we've stayed. The bedrooms were all large, with comfortable beds. The living room had a great TV and lots of sitting spaces so we could watch the NCAA basketball tournament, kitchen had everything we needed, and the place was very clean. While we didn't use it, the back yard had a grill, children's play area and patio with sitting area plus a table and chairs. Rob and Virginia were great hosts and thought of everything to make our stay worry-free. From the time we first contacted them through the end of our weekend, they were responsive to all of our inquiries. We highly recommend this place for a large family gathering or for a group that wants to get together for a special occasion or, like us, to make it a special occasion. All we had to do was bring the food in - everything else was provided. This house raised the bar on our expectations and will be hard to match.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

This home was so comfortable for our week long family reunion. We have 4 married children and 10 grandchildren and we were able to spread out and enjoy one another. We picked a week where the weather was a bit cool but we were able to have room comfortably for everyone, even the busy young ones. We went to Disneyland, Sea World, the Zoo and took family photo's in the nearby park. The children had bikes to ride as well as scooters, balls and a very nice play set that the owner keeps at the home and they got well used. Very nice BBQ to use as well, we're all about BBQing!!!! If your needing a great place to stay while enjoying the San Diego area I would totally recommend this home. Neighbors were very kind and of course we tried to keep the children respectful of them. The owner is a very kind person, honest and concerned for any of our needs. Our hopes are to get back that way again and we "WILL" be staying here!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Arrival at the house was easy from the airport as the directions given by Rob were excellent. We loved the fact we could eat breakfast outside on the super large patio with enough seating for over 12 people ! The bedroom spaces are great - just don't put accident prone people in the upstairs bedroom with 4 steps down. Everything was absolutely shining clean, well cared for. The area is fabulous for walking, close to Old Town and in general the best location for what we wanted to enjoy of San Diego. The owners are very helpful when any questions arose. A great place , would highly recommend it.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.

We rented this home for a work retreat. The home is beautifully kept with excellent space for a large group. The beds and furniture are extremely comfortable and did not feel or look at all like a rental property. I have rented numerous homes over the past few years for work retreats and this home exceeded my expectations. The kitchen is roomy and fully equipped with all of the cookware and utentsils you could possibly need. The location is also ideal and so close to the airport, beaches, Sea World and Zoo. Within a 1 mile distance there is Old Town San Diego which has numerous excellent restaurants. The owner's were so accomodating and helpful with information prior to our stay. I highly recommend this property.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

We rented this property for a family wedding. We were 15 adults and 2 infants in the house and it was fabulous. The young adults stayed up late talking and laughing and we couldn't hear a thing. The house is so quiet from room to room. There was more than enough room to spread out, the kitchen was well strocked with pots, pans, dishes, etc. It was convient to get to and from and wallking to the main area was easy. We can't wait to come back!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

My extended family consisting of 3 families stayed here over the Christmas holiday. We had a great stay. The home is very spacious and there was plenty of room for everyone to have their space. Everything was very comfortable and the owners were a pleasure to work with. The neighborhood was great and we enjoyed walking to the local coffee place. It was very easy to get to stores, downtown, Seaworld and Ocean beach, the best dog beach I (and my dog) have ever been to. If we ever plan a trip to San Diego again, we would stay again at the house in a heartbeat.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners.

I would like to take a brief moment and offer very sincere remarks relative to the outstanding customer service provided by the owners of this property. What I would like for everyone to know that reads this comment is that I have 'not' had the opportunity to stay at this property due to scheduling conflicts amongst my guest. However, we were all excited about staying there and had put down the first initial payments. The property owners made our booking and cancellation experience very 'painless'. They were very pleasant and understanding of my situation. They quickly refunded our down payments. I realize that I have not stayed at this property, but I KNOW through my booking and cancellation experience it would have been worth while. If I'm 'ever' in need of a 8 bedroom family 'get-a-way' in San Diego, property 374831 will 'always' be first on my list. Great Customer Service is key to building and retaining your customer base. Property Owners 374831 have certainly proven they have what it takes to establishing a large customer base. My wife and I will be forever thankful to them for their kindness and making what was a stressful experience in planning and attempting to coordinate a large party a very painless experience during the cancellation process. Which brings me to my closing statements. Although I have not stayed at this property, I will always recommend it to others seeking a large, but private establishment to spend time with family and friends. OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! This house was the best part of our family holiday - a great location, lots of room for the grandchildren to play, big kitchen, comfortable beds, and our own bathrooms. After sightseeing all day it was nice to be able to relax in a house rather then small hotel rooms. The house was spotless with everything a family would need - DVD's, toys and games for the grandchildren, and a large assortment of reading material for the adults. This is the perfect place to stay as it is very close to Sea World, Old Town and the airport. About the owner: We are a family of 6 that lived in this house for close to 10 years. We loved the house and the neighborhood, however, we had to move to another house in the San Diego area to take advantage of that area's special needs school for our daughter.
Why the Owner Chose Mission Hills:
The property is situated in one of the oldest neighborhoods in San Diego. We originally moved to this house because we enjoyed the convenience of the neighborhood being close to the downtown area. Balboa Park and the beaches. We loved the feel of the neighborhood and the unique Spanish, Craftsman and Contempory architecture.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We have kept the original hardware floors and kept the high arched living room ceiling. Being on top of a hill we continually feel the warm ocean beeezes so we do not need to use our central air conditioning very often. Our backyard area is bigger than most in this neighborhood so we landscaped it so there would be plenty of room for our kids to play and enjoy.
