Family Holiday House by the Nivernais Canal. Originally built as a Barge’s Inn, the house has been converted into a spacious family holiday home equipped with modern amenities for relaxed living.
Large living rooms on ground and first floor with three sofa/beds/ large dormitory,four double beds each with extra single bed, one bath, and three shower rooms.
The nearest towns are: Clamecy to the north, where you can buy wine from the barrel in the Cave and shop at the daily fresh produce market; To the south is Tannay, also a market town. Both can be reached by walking or bicycling along the scenic towpath next to the canal. Irancy, Chablis, and Avallon are within a day’s outing for some tasting of excellent and famous wines.
The ancient village of Villiers sur Yonne situated on the Nivernais Canal is a popular mooring spot for summer cruisers. The Canal is linked to a vast network of waterways, which serve many parts of France. It is possible to rent river cruisers locally for both short and long trips. The River Yonne runs parallel to the canal a few meters away and offers fishing and good swimming.
The Bourgogne region is renowned for it’s fine rural Chateaux. Ten kilometers away is the beautiful hilltop town of Vezelay famous for the Basilica Madeleine, built to serve the pilgrims en route to the Holy Land. Close by is one of France’s most renowned restaurants, owned by Marc Meneau. This area is a gourmet region of France. |
