Chalet in the Woods, newly built and furnished in Jan 2003, is nestled in the award-winning Cacapon South community near Berkeley Springs, voted "Best Development of the Year" by the West Virginia Homebuilder's Association. It is centrally located between Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania and is less then two hours to nearby Washington, DC.

This three-story, four-bedroom, and three-(full) bath chalet, accommodating up to 10 guests, is located directly across from 6000-acre Cacapon State Park, which offers a beautiful 18-hole Robert Trent Jones golf course, more than 20 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, swimming, fishing, picnic areas, basketball courts, tennis, a restaurant and recreation center.

The chalet is also minutes from the historic town of Berkeley Springs, where you can partake in its natural mineral baths, local art, and antiques. Nearby, the resorts of Coolfont and The Woods provide a la carte amenities, such as spas, fitness center/gym, indoor swimming, entertainment, sledding, and restaurants.

For ski lovers, the chalet is just a 40-minute drive to White Tail and other ski locations. Other popular sights and activities include the C&O Canal Towpath, Rails to Trails, Paw Paw Tunnel, Cacapon and Potomac River float trips, Civil War Battlefields, and historic Harper's Ferry. It's country club living without country club prices!

The 2500-square-foot A-frame chalet offers three levels of beautiful surroundings and views, with windows spanning all three floors. The top level is a spacious loft, dedicated entirely to the master bedroom with king bed, study/reading area, and private master bathroom, which boasts a Jacuzzi bathtub.

The main level offers an enticing and warm living and dining area, with a fireplace, satellite TV, DSL, DVD/VCR player and stereo. A fully equipped kitchen on the main floor includes a dishwasher and microwave, plus the breakfast buffet area. A gas grill is also available. Through the kitchen you will find a hall to a second full bath and two bedrooms (queen and twin beds).

Downstairs is the family room with another view (sliding glass walkout doors), a 32-inch satellite television, VCR/DVD player, ping-pong table, and queen sofa bed. It still doesn't stop there, because there is yet a fourth bedroom (queen) and full bath in which to spread out, along with washer and dryer for extended stays.

  • This home is awesome. I had a beautiful weekend with the love of my life. The scenary was breath-taking. The accent of the home makes you feel comfortable and right at home. I recommend this cabin to anyone that wants to get away from the city. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!

  • My wife and I stayed at the Chalet in the Woods recently, and were thoroughly impressed with the high quality of it, and the thought that went into the interior appointments, and directions/details. Our stay went without a hitch and of course the area is great. Everything was clean and there was enough of everything that we needed. It was a great get-away, and very relaxing!

  • My husband and I had a great time at the cabin with our four-year-old and another couple with their child. There is so much to do!!! We spent a lot of time at Cacapon State Park (across the street) and went swimming, horseback riding, hiking and did an evening bat nature class at the nature center. We also spent a fun night singing songs and eating marshmallows around the campfire--also affiliated with the nature center. Our son loved the playground and the swimming lake is very child-friendly. He spent hours trying to catch fish with his net. The house was very comfortable and nice--everything's new. Big kitchen and a nice yard for the kids. I would definitely come back here again! Connie

  • My family had a blast at the "Chalet in the Woods." There was plenty of room for three moms and six kids to spread out. It's really a luxury cabin, but it's furnished comfortably. We loved the nature programs at the state park nearby and also enjoyed a day swimming in the lake and renting a paddleboat there. The kids got lots of use out of the ping-pong table downstairs. What a great place to get away to and enjoy nature and time with friends! We hope to go back sometime!

  • I've been here several times and love to be here. The surroundings are beautiful - from the views of the woods to the attractive spaces and within the house. There is a relaxed, country feeling with much nice wooden furniture. I like the colors too. Since I'm an artist, I especially appreciate the nice artwork in each room. Another special thing is that, even if there are many people in the cabin, one can find a quiet corner to relax or read. Plus it's great to go to the lodge for a meal. The food is very good and not expensive. Thanks for making such a neat get-a-way!

    Just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed your lovely home. The weather was perfect and the setting wonderful. We saw wild turkeys and 3 deer in the yard one morning. We had a great time at the Apple Butter Festival and enjoyed good meals...Everyone was impressed that I found such a great place that was easy travelling distance from our different locations in NC, OH and NY. The house was beautifully furnished and had everything we needed. Thanks again.
