A Perfect August on Crooked Lake
A Perfect August on Crooked Lake

We rented this cottage for three weeks this August. We had come from Texas to escape the heat and this was a perfect choice. Though not large the cottage was a good size for the two of us - and company that we had in and out during the month. The cottage was very clean and the kitchen well stocked. We enjoyed the lakefront room with its wicker furniture and wall of windows, eating out on the patio just in time for beautiful sunsets and often adjourning to the firepit on the cool evenings. The owners have done great renovations this year and I understand they have more planned - which may really move this property into the 5 star category! It is a good value for the rental. We have family on the lake so we have been here many times before. We list our favorite spots to eat as Captains Cabin (on Crooked), Mulligans (on James), Daves Lake Shack (on Snow) and Carusos and Auntie V's in Angola. If you want great meat to grill Hargers Meat Market is the place to go! This is a wonderful spot to relax lakeside. The lawn and swing by the water are perfect for visiting and a good book. Hope we can do it again!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Steve, here’s our review from our stay at the cottage (Memorial Day weekend). I could not create an homeaway account at work, so thought I’d send this to you directly so you could add it to the reviews. 5 star stay and a value for what you get. Hope you are all well and happy! Catherine “This is the perfect cottage for lake fun! There is plenty of room for your boat and a wonderful view of the water. Especially liked the large lawn and the large patio area! while the space is cozy, it definitely provided all that we needed. If only we'd had more time-off from work!”Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This Lake home was easy to get to and had a lot of parking enough room to park boat trailers and several cars with no problem if needed we just had the one trailer and our truck but still it was nice to have room. We owned a lake home and parking was a big issue and is at most lake homes we have rented a few and know from experience that being able to have parking is a big problem. The home has everything that we needed and a wonderful view and great Lake it was clean and any help we needed was only a phone call away. The service was great and our Dog had a good time being only 6 miles to a super Wal-Mart to pick up your supply's we did not need to pack it in. We would most certainly rent this home again Steve and his wife was most helpful and nice to do business with. We did not go out to eat but we did manage to go to Shipshewana to the flea market and did enjoy boating in our boat and did catch 1 good mess of Blue Gills to take home other than that we relaxed read a few books and watched the world go by. My family stayed a week in the cabin. We have 4 teens. They all loved being there. It was cozy. We played games, enjoyed the paddleboat, kayaks, jet ski, swans, eating at Timbers, wi fi, being lazy at the lake. We invited some of our friends to come by to visit. They were also impressed at the nice cabin. Great value for the money. We did meet the owners because they came to fix the air condtioner on our first day. Very nice family.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2
