Perfect trip with toddler
The Tulemar staff, and Chris in particular, made our one week trip in late November one of our absolute favorites. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. Chris, our personal concierge, provided us with a crib for our 17mo old, gave us a lift to the grocery store upon arrival, and checked in daily to make sure we were okay and to see if we needed reservations made, etc. Even having to switch bungalows mid-way through our stay was not a problem (though I was initially concerned). The bungalows themselves were wonderful. *They were sufficiently stocked with cooking utensils, but conveniently within walking distance (with a stroller!) of many stores and restaurants. *There were screens behind the windows so that you could open them without fear of bugs coming in. *As others have mentioned, the views are fantastic and we saw multiple monkeys from our bungalow. We also saw multiple other creatures throughout the property, including numerous lizards and two sloths. *While the property is VERY hilly, we never had a problem with the shuttle service, as the drivers were prompt and courteous. *Having your own private beach is extremely underrated. Beautiful setting, canoes, boogie boards, chairs, towels and a bar and grill. What more do you need? Bottom line: The bungalows are great and views outstanding, but the customer service and hospitality truly make this worthy of five stars. We feel like we made friends there and would highly recommend this property.

Pura Vida Tulemar
We have a nine year old and shared one of the geometric shaped bungalows. She slept in the living room while we had a lovely room. Firstly, if your taste tends toward mid-century and 1970's architecture, this place will please you. It is an octagonal type shape on stilts. The views are spectacular. You may need an hour or so of air conditioning but because of the wonderful screened windows and sea breeze, you will choose to sleep with the windows open when you are able. The kitchenette is well appointed. It came with a blender which we made unbelievably delicious fruits. Where you shop: expensive. Try the Friday night Farmers Market in Quepos on the boardwalk. Your concierge, if he is Chris, will direct you to the best vendors. We discovered an artisanal cheese maker who made unpasteurized camembert from either goat or cow milk. Fantastic! You will rely on your concierge for support and advise. We lucked out with Chris Madrigal. He was knowledgeable and generous. He surprised us with things he learned we liked. Typical foods and honest advise. The bungalow is immaculate and when we spotted any problem Chris Madrigal took care of it without us knowing. We enjoyed the Villa Vanilla tour and the Zip Line Canopy tour. Villa Vanilla is a sleeper of a tour. We learned so much by their tastings. For instance, I do not think I have ever really tasted chocolate before having their version. Dense and intense. I will take this experience ad measure all chocolate by it in the future. The BEACH! We spent the last three days of our ten days at Tulemar at the beach. Boogie boarding for hours. Kayaking. walking up the stair-climber type road. We all improved our conditioning. Our daughter came home a better runner. Not to mention that the best food for lunch was at the beach. Tuna wraps. Fish sandwiches. Chicken sandwiches. Salade Nicoise. All very healthful and delicious. Wildlife. Incredible. My daughter especially loved the Villa Pool with resident iguana whom she named Iggy. The grounds look as if you are in an estate's garden with round the clock maintenance.

Could not have been any better!!
Beautiful property! We were greeted by monkeys on our way down to the beach. The staff is what put this place over the top of us. Chris was wonderful, we talked to him everyday, he had great suggestions for meals and activities. He would even call back to make sure we had a good time. All staff members always had a smile when picking us up from the room. Danny and Jose made us feel like family at the bar. The Chef took the time to talk to us as well. The bungalow was perfect for us. The views were amazing and of course all of the animals were always around. You do not even have to leave Tulemar for anything if you don't want to. It is truly paradise. Thank you to everyone who made our 25th wedding anniversary amazing.

One of a kind place
My daughter and I ended our visit to Costa Rica in a Tulemar Bungelow. The round bungalow had fabulous views and was close to the restaurant and pool. We did not use the pool but the restaurant had delicious, well presented food. The beach was fabulous and it had a great bar and grill. One of the prettiest settings I have ever seen! The staff at the beach was wonderful. Very eager to please. Loved the Howler monkeys roaming the beach trees. I would book there again in a heartbeat! Truly one of our best vacations ever! Stayed November 2013, traveled with family

Beautiful Engagement Experience
I stayed here with my fiance to celebrate our engagement and had the best time. Tulemar made our engagement extra special with small, personal touches the team had made happen during our time there. Our hostess Ashley was amazing and always accessible. She had set up roses and chocolates for our arrival and towards the tail end of the trip had brought us the best chocolate brownies personally to our door in the rain! Tulemar is truly gorgeous. It's tucked away in the hills of Manuel Antonio overlooking the Pacific and is its own private area. There are only a few private bungalows each with a kitchenette. On our arrival, there was a white faced monkey right in front of our door! We had a beautiful view of the sunset over the Pacific each night. We saw numerous creatures and even went hiking inside the grounds (they have two hiking trails). We also visited the private beach numerous times. Everyone at Tulemar was very friendly and attentive, we felt extremely relaxed during our stay there and can't wait to return. Thank you Ashley and the rest of the Tulemar team for making our time in Costa Rica truly memorable!

Amazing and Great for families, Beach and Pools!!!
We booked through Cindy at Tulemar vacations and didn't really know what to expect. We have 2 kids (4&6) We saw some photos and thought we may be getting a part of one of the pods. When we drove in and saw the property we were floored! It is so beautiful! The villa was fully stocked with a small kitchen and anything you could need for making your own food. It was also close to the restaurant (15m) if you want some good food. The beach is beautiful. It's about a 10-15 min walk steep down hill, though you can often see Lots of animals along the way. We saw sloths, howler monkeys, coatis, and iguanas, along the way. You could also take a shuttle if you want. The staff are all very nice and helpful. David down at the beach is soooo nice and helpful. He jumps to help you in any way you could need. The pools are very nice and clean. The drivers are very good too. They can come pick you up at the beach and bring you straight to your door or anywhere else on the property. We have had a great time here and recommend it for anyone! We want to come back with friends. Stayed December 2013

Amazing place and Staff
My wife and I were celebrating our honeymoon and had an absolutely wonderful time at Tulemar. The wildlife at the property was amazing! On our first day, we took a brief siesta in the bungalow to rest after our trip. Within 25 minutes a 3 toed sloth climbed the tree right in front of our window (not more than 12 feet away from us) and stayed for the rest of that day and some of the next! White Faced and Howler monkeys were around frequently and our treetop level view from the bungalow provided us with some of the best pictures of wildlife we took all week. In addition, the panoramic views of the ocean and red glowing sunsets from our room were incredible. The pools, grounds, and beach were meticulously groomed and the layout was extremely well thought out which contributed to a sense of privacy. For the staff: they were very friendly, helpful at every turn, made delicious drinks and food at the pool bar and were in every way accommodating to us. I especially want to thank our concierge Mauricio for making sure everything went well during our stay. He recommended places to go, helped make reservations, and even booked 2 of the best masseuses (which came to our bungalow) that we had ever experienced. Amenities in the bungalow were excellent also. HDTV's, a full kitchen, separate sides for sleeping and living, very functional bathroom, and again a 360 degree view with huge windows. Tulemar is also located near the best restaurants and bars you will want to visit, and you can walk to most of them. The national park was a very short cab ride (or a nice walk) away, and very convenient. We went during the "rainy season", but saw less rain there than we would have in Atlanta. We visited some other hotels, but Tulemar was the best we saw. Certainly deserving of the highest rating we can give it! A must stay.

Beautiful Manuel Antonio Property - Tulemar
Tulemar has gotten better and better. Every staff member, as usual, was courteous and attentive. We chose the bungalows which were clean, have a spectacular view and the grounds are vast yet well-manicured. During our visit without leaving the property, we saw sloths, toucans, howler and white-faced monkeys, iguanas, various birds and plenty of animals on the private beach. We had breakfast and dinner at the restaurant and the food was quite good. The walking trails are fabulous. They offer great hiking with amazing views. You do not need to leave Tulemar for anything. Tulemar is an A+ destination. It is a one stop place. Definitely going back. Great memories!

Wonderful Stay at Tulemar BungalowGuest comment entered by owner
Wonderful Stay at Tulemar Bungalow
My husband, 10 yr old son and I had a wonderful stay at the Tulemar Bungalows. We stayed in Bungalow 112, which was a perfect size for our family of three. Our son stayed on the daybed on the living room side and had his own flat screen tv, and we of course stayed on the bedroom side. We booked through Costa Rican Vacations, which did a fantastic job putting us a trip together with 3 days at Arenal Volcano and four days in Manuel Antonio at the Tulemar Bungalows. As others have mentioned and the Tulemar website clearly explains, the bungalows are the oldest buildings on the property and the décor reflects this, but they have stellar views and are quite clean, comfortable and a wonderful home base to come back to after a day of adventures. Our bungalow was very close to a lovely infinity edge pool with the open air restaurant and bar next to it. We ate breakfast there each morning and cooled off in the pool in the late afternoons. The view of the Pacific is fabulous, the food and service are great, and they make awesome guaro sours! All of the staff we encountered were incredibly friendly and helpful. By the 2nd day the bartender remembered what I liked and waiters knew us too. We spent one day down at the private beach and nearly had it to ourselves. There are comfy loungers down there for relaxing and reading, and my husband and son had a blast riding the waves on boogie boards. I saw other people taking out the kayaks. There is a tiki bar down there where you can get drinks and snacks. We saw a little troupe of spider monkeys down there by the beach - so cute! They told us to allow 20 minutes when we called for a car to take us back up the hill but it came much sooner than that. It really is a crazy steep hill, you will be exhausted and sweating buckets if you decide to walk it, but my husband and son walked it on another day and they lived, lol. You will likely see monkeys and sloths on the journey. The folks up in the office were terrific and helped us plan several excursions. One day we combined two excursions, the Damas Mangrove tour and the Manuel Antonio park tour. Our guide was Dennis and he was so good. For the mangrove tour we were in a nice covered boat & saw monkeys, bats, crabs, lizards and a silky anteater. It was a very pleasant boat ride and we went all the way to where the mangrove canals met the Pacific. The tour of MA park was wonderful too! This is a must stay!

Wish we had stayed here our whole trip
My two daughters and I stayed in one of the bungelows last week and were so sorry to have to leave. This place has everything you need.....Great central location, we had beautiful ocean views from every window (#113), had a fridge and cook top in our room, internet worked great in our room, the adult pool was like having your own personal pool....never anyone there and the grounds are gorgeous. Julien was our concierge and he was really helpful if we had any questions. There are restaurants and a supermarket within walking distance but Julien offered to take us to the grocery store on our first day so we could pick up some items to make sandwiches and pancakes. It was nice that we didn't have to eat out every meal. We saw sloths and monkeys on the hiking trail that leads down to the beach (not a difficult walk mostly downhill). No need to worry about walking back up the trail...the shuttle at the bottom will give you a ride any time! They were really great all around. We had planned to spend half of our trip in Tulemar and half in the Arenal area but I seriously considered trying to cancel the Arenal hotel last minute so we could stay in Tulemar. We will definitely go back to Tulemar! Thanks Julien and everyone at Tulemar.....you do a fantastic job and I appreciate all you did to make our stay special!

About the owner: My family owns property here in Tulemar Gardens. We have offered our home for rent here for several years. Recently we have started booking rentals for our friends who also have homes here. This is one of those units.
Why the Owner Chose Quepos:
After looking for a long time in Manuel Antonio for a home to buy, we finally found that Tulemar Gardens was the only location with all paved roads to the home, a private beach and a gated community. We fell in love love with the area.
