Tranquillity in the Bahamas on Great Guana Cay

Tranquillity, our Bahamian house on Great Guana Cay is just that. A wonderfully tranquil, congenial home with all amenities one should expect for a completely comfortable experience. Specifically designed for the site by architect Thomas Frost, the view takes advantage of both the Sea of Abaco, with its interesting islands as well as the Atlantic Ocean. The interior walls are all cypress and the floors are easy to care for ceramic tile.
Cross ventilation, six ceiling fans, including the porch, and central air conditioning assures year ‘round comfort. The cathedral ceiling and large windows affords a spectacular view of the Sea and landscape. From the living room one enters the most used space; a screened and tiled lanai. This brings one close to nature and the nightly sunsets over the Sea are in full view. Carefull watching may, on rare occasions, allow a glimpse of the elusive, but much sought after, “green flash.”
The main floor contains two bedrooms; one with queen sized bed and the other with two twin beds. Both with adjoining, full baths and there is also an enclosed out door shower.
The fully windowed loft and outdoor observation deck is reached by a spiral stair case which affords a 360 degree spectacular view of the Sea, Ocean, Settlement and the natural landscape. The loft contains a futon for quite relaxation.
The surrounding garden has a vast diversity of native plants and trees. There are over over 50 exotic fruit and citrus trees and picking and enjoying what ever fruit may be in season is encouraged.
For swimming/snorkeling, or beachcombing the Ocean and the Sea of Abaco are but seconds away by foot.

Jenni and I absolutely loved your home on Guana. We have been going to Guana two to four times a year for the past 6 years and have stayed in various rental homes over that period. Your home had the best "feel" of any place we have stayed. What a wonderful place. We had no difficulties or problems of any kind, other than trying to stop talking about the fantastic view.Jon/Jennifer CoatsDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Thomas, the stay was wonderful. Your cottage is beautiful and the garden in incredible. We had such a wonderful time there and it will be the focus of such wonderful memories. The wedding was great, barefoot on the beach with the reception at blue water. All my friends and family had a great time and loved Guana. We will surely be back for another visit.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Hi Thomas,You have a marvelous place! While folks in the settlement were firing up the A/C, we were enjoying the refreshing breeze on Hermit's Peak. Good news. A cold front passed on Thursday, with enough rain to overfill the cistern. What a treat to find a few plump tomatoes ripening on the vine to welcome us! Your gardens are breathtaking. We brought home ideas for our own, since our place is in need of revamping after being torn up from the hurricanes over the past few years.I especially enjoyed the outside shower. It's roomy enough to be transformed into a handicapped shower, with the use of a plastic chair from the screen room. Tranquility has everything we look for in a vacation rental. We look forward to returning. Thanks,PattyDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Thomas - Our stay was most enjoyable and the weather was great - mid to upper 70s and sunny on most days. Your home and property are exquisite. With the boat from Waterways we were able to explore Treasure, shell island, MOW, Elbow and Lubbers. Snorkeling on Fowl Cay was fantastic!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Mr Tunney, We really enjoyed our stay in your house despite Tropical Storm Rita chasing us out a bit early. The vegatation was lovely and the house had a positive energy. The dock was convenient. The beach looked nice, but because of the September wind, the waves were monstrous, so we didn't swim in the Atlantic side. Guana was easy to get to and from and all the nearby islands were awesome to visit as well. Thanks for your hospitality--Amy and Steve -Amy and Steve Hillerson, St Petersburg, Fl Homeowner Response: Hi folks - Thank you so much for your very generous note. I was really squeezing for good Bahamian weather for you but, somehow, lost my influence. Guess I will have to go back to the "Source.' Really sorry but you seem to weather , (no pun intended), the adverse conditions very well. Thanx much and hope we hear from you again - thomasDid you find this review helpful? Dear Mr. Tunney, Paul and I had a wonderful time on Guana and couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. We truly appreciate your sharing your wonderful home with us, it surpassed all expectations. From the moment we arrived and were picked up by Jackie, everything was perfect. We especially appreciated the view from the house and the spectacular gardens. We found your house to be in excellent shape and we look forward to staying there again. Thanks again, SarahDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Thomas, The trip was fantastic. We didn't want to leave! We love your house and its wonderful view. The people there were fantastic, incredibly honest and very friendly. We had a greattime and really enjoyed visiting with the locals and avoiding the US citizens. I think often of moving to such a place for political asylum. Thanks very much again for accommodating us at the last minute. It was one of the very best trips we have ever had. David David A. Why the Owner Chose Great Guana Cay:
We built on one of the highest points of Guana Cay and the 360 degree panoramic views of the Island, the Sea and the Ocean are fantastic. At the same time, it is highly secluded, located at the end of a dead end road. It is close, with easy access to the Sea of Abaco, and the Atlantic Ocean as-well-as the Settlement, the shops, and the beach-restaurants.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Quiet, peaceful, and off the usual tourist trail. Great Guana Cay is home to some of the most frienldy people you will ever meet. The miles of pristine white sand beaches and the crystal clear water will leave you breathless. 'Tranquility' is an unusually peaceful house, faces the four directions, and was designed using Feng Shui and other principles.
