  Owners Wendy and Michael are the absolute best and the cottages are just perfect. The cottages are comfortable and welcoming with everything you would need. There is a fire pit in the backyard that is shared by all the cottages and a great place to meet other interesting travelers. The beach is walking distance and there are bikes you can use to visit the other beaches like Manhattan and Hermosa. My sister, brother and mother have all stayed here on multiple occasions and we recommend it to everyone. It is on a quiet street just a few blocks away from shops and cafe's. Staying in South Bay is a great way to experience a different side of Los Angeles, away from the hectic Hollywood and closer to the beauty of Palos Verdes and the other beach cities.

  Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

  This is a cute, historic cottage in Redondo Beach near the pier and beach. I think it is 3 blocks away. The pier offer both restaurants and bars. It also has a fish place with fish right off the boats. The cottage is cute, but a little small for most people. It worked out beautifully for my girlfriend and I, but I could see it being a struggle for bigger individuals. (We are 5'7'' and 5'3''). It has a good bed, nice bathroom with bath salts & lotion, a small kitchen with a nice gas oven & range, and a tv room with a futon. Everything was clean upon our arrival and the owner was very nice and helpful. The cabin is set in a beautiful garden the owner keeps up. There were many flowers in bloom when I was there and it was truly relaxing and refreshing to see every time we came back "home." There is a nice picnic table and hammock out in the garden. We used the hammock and took a nap in the warm afternoon sun. The owner even cuts beautiful flowers and places them inside each room for you! I didn't take the time to work the TV, but the DVD player worked. We enjoyed Planet Earth. One negative is after a sun filled day with all the windows and doors closed, the place can have a musty smell. That can be quickly fixed by opening up the doors and letting the sea breeze do its work. If I did it again, I would probably just leave a window or 2 open while we are out (but I didn't figure out how to work all the windows until the day we left. I was very satisfied for the $. I thought this was a fantastic, romantic place to stay, and my girlfriend loved it too! I would recommend this to anyone staying near Redondo.

  My husband and I needed a small place to host a tiny family Christmas dinner in. Burnham Beach fit the bill to a tee. Wendy and her husband set the tone for a relaxed and warm stay. Everything was in it's place. Clean, comfortable, warm, charming.... we loved it all.

  Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

  The cottage is on the backside of an old house (1912, I think) maintained by a fun loving and casual couple, a five minute walk from the Redondo Beach and Pier. It is a great location with a beach cottage ambience. The surroundings of the cottages are full of lovely flowering plants and there are nice chairs and tables to relax among the beautiful surroundings. My wife and I stayed there for 8 nights with our adult son joining us for the last 2 nights and were generally happy. However, the cottage lacks two things that brought down my overall evaluation- space and privacy. Until we got there, we did not realize how tiny the cottage was. The bedroom is probably 8'x8', the living room about 12'x8' and the kitchen again 8'x8'. This complicated our life in several ways. Because of the lack of space, the bed was against a window and hence the the person sleeping on the window side had to make complicated maneuvers to get out of bed in the middle of the night. The smallness of the kitchen meant that it was difficult to prepare a full meal there. No more than one person could work there at a time and there was no work surface other than the tiny kitchen table to chop vegetables etc. Consequently, we ended up using the kitchen for only breakfast or reheating leftovers. We did enjoy the small table in the front porch for our breakfast, but I am not sure we could have accommodate anything other two plates on the table. While the space limitations were at times annoying, we got used to it with time. Our son, who has been sharing apartments with friends was most comfortable there. What I could not get used to was the lack of privacy. There are several small houses and cottages in the back of the main house and many young people live there. Very often they would be wandering around the backyard walking past out cottage or standing next to it and talking. There were two evening parties that went late into the night, one past midnight. As the beach cottages have no A/C, we left the windows open and listened to many conversations drifting in from outside. We were just as afraid that our own conversations would be overheard by someone standing or working near the windows. I should add that we are an older couple that values its privacy. If you are a young person or a couple who wants a casual California experience with a proximity to the beach and are willing to make some sacrifices, this is a great property. Owners are genuinely good people and do want you to be happy

  We enjoyed the Burnham cottage very much. We would definitely stay again the next time we are in Redondo Beach. The location was perfect and Mike and Wendy were lovely.

  We had a wonderful time staying at the Burnham Beach Cottages! The cottage was exactly as described. The location was great and the bikes on offer came in handy for us. The cottage was clean and welcoming. The hosts, Mike & Wendy are wonderful people who go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and right at home. After staying in hotels for 2 weeks, having a kitchen and fridge and fresh air was fantastic! Do yourself a favor and enjoy a meal and wine at the Cheesecake Factory Restaurant......amazing! We will definitely be back! Do yourself a favor and book now!!!!

  Good location, nice cottage with good kitchen. High density living, exasperated by little privacy due to owner constantly working around the cottage. Clean and well maintained, owner very helpful in recommending area restaurants, etc Listing description accurate regarding location.

  Me and my Girlfriend stayed here for a leisure trip a few weeks ago. Wendy welcomed us on our late arrival and walked us through the cottage. All the photos came to reality when we arrived and was very pleased. It was very clean, and the sorroundings were well maintained. It was very nice waking up early in the morning and walking to beach. It was a short walk to the pier and the sand :) There were local restaurants, and the Redondo Pier to choose from for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks. After a day of sight seeing, we loved coming back to the cottage to relax. I have been staying around neighboring beaches and this is by far the best I have stayed in. It is a very good place for couples, and small families with children. Upon our departure, we were on the hammock to enjoy the place one last time. Mike was also very kind to take some photos for us. I would like to thank Mike and Wendy for accomodating us on their cottage. Me and my Girlfriend are already planning another trip back, and hopefully they can accomodate us once again.

  While in town visiting family we stayed at one of The Burnham Cottages. Although we were busy this trip in town and not able to "hang out" around the cottage, we found it quite comfortable in the mornings and evenings. The owners are most helpful and accommodating and the cottage itself filled with ambiance land and wonderful "little touches" . Thank you for a great stay, as always, Vrbo is the best!
