The CASA MARINA is a beautiful and elegant vacation flat lying on the first floor of a building dated back to the Renaissance just restored to a very high quality level. This is one of the very few buildings within the Walled city with a working modern lift which will save you from walking up steps and steps and steps...
The apartment measures about 130 square metres with a very large day area composed of a spacious living room with white sofas and chairs and a dining area and a very well equipped kitchen. The night area consists of three bedrooms and two bathrooms: the two double ones share a bathroom with shower, the twin bedroom has bathroom with bath-tub en suite. Dishwasher, washing machine, iron, board are provided.
View from the windows is beautiful overlooking other historic and important buildings dated back to 1400 / 1500: in the past here in the nearby everything belonged to the Guinigi family. In fact the apartment is in a very central location a few steps from the wonderful Guinigi Tower which is famous for its 'garden' on its top and from where the view is really suggestive. The apartment is also located a few steps from the Palazzo Guinigi Museum and from the Chiesa della Rosa where you can find rests of the Roman Wall. The access to the Wall and the gateway to the train station are 300 metres further away. not only: you can find also groceries, cafè, pasties and nice place to eat.. and last but not least the area is one of the most quiet all over the walled historic centre.

The location of the apartment is ideal. Very close to san Michele square and via fillungo and the public transportation, but it's on the "residential" side of the town: an elegant and quiet street. So you feel a little more like a "local". The Duomo and train station are both about 5 minutes walk or less. The apartment itself is very nice and roomy. We're a family of 6 and everyone was comfortable. Everything was clean and ready for us on arrival. Mrs Sonia checked us in and spent plenty of time showing us her recos on a map - even providing us with a list of favorite restaurants of all types. She also takes the time to show every nook and cranny of the apartment so you know how to use everything. The beds are new and comfortable, the apartment is fresh, well decorated and maintained. Wi-fi connection for free and elevator. Everything worked smoothly. We recommend this apartment. Owner response: It was such an honour we could host such lovely guests! Thank you so much! You are always welcome back

We stayed in this apt between April 15 and 25,2011. It was a great experience staying in this apt, it is close to public transportation (train station and bus terminal), walking distance from Saturday market and the tourist office. The house has everything you need and very safe .It is exactly like it is explained in the website. Sonia owns this house and she was waiting for us at the street door, took us walking to her house explained everything made us feel very special gave us a special gift to remember, was a great start, wish we stayed longer. we truly had no problem. we walked everywhere in Lucca and also had daily trips to Florence and Pisa as well as a wine tour on the hills. It was very easy with the train. The Saturday market was a great experience we did buy local food, fruit and vegetables were able to cook and enjoy homestyle food. We also went to Cinque Terre and took the boat trip on a sunny sunday. The house came with clean towels, sheets, utensils, iron, wifi, just about everything. I would highly recommend this house for anyone . Sonia was a honest and kind person also remembered to wish my 10 yr old daughter happy birthday. We were really touched by her kindness. We want to thank her and her family for letting us stay in her house.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, people with disabilities.
Owner response: Thank for finding the time to write to us, it is very much appreciated!! With all the best wishes

We enjoyed the apartment it was close the the sites and train station, but out of the tourist hoards. Sonia was there to meet us so we didn't get lost in the first minute. Unfortunately we were only there 7 nights. not enough time to see it all. The restaraunts and market she suggested were great. The kitchen was well appointed and the bed was very comfortable. We really liked just riding our bike around and seeing things from the walls. Tenuta Valgiano that Sonia suggested had amazing wine sand we got a daily trip there in the countryside of Lucca. When we are able to return we will check Sonia's availability. It was a great apartment.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, people with disabilities.

What an EXCELLENT apartment for your stay in Lucca! Description VERY accurate ( too modest I recognize!!!) , flat is very clean and well maintained. Full kitchen and laundry services in apartment. EXCELLENT for when you get home from a big day out sight seeing and just want to relax and rest and have a quiet night in! Access to all transport a breeze so getting to anywhere is really easy . Close location to excellent fresh food markets and lots of "Lucca feels" to make you believe you are one of the locals. I would recommend this property very highly to any one going to Lucca. A far better alternative to a hotel and a terrific rate for British travellers looking for plenty of space and a "homey" feel. Very safe area and extremely quiet. Great bakeries everywhere, wine and cheese shops and restaurants all good in nearby medieval streets. Walk to Amphiteatre and up on the walls, stunning views! We spent there he best time talking, walking and of course… dreaming!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, people with disabilities.
Owner response: Thank you so much!

We absolutely loved the Marina Apartment! We stayed here for 7 nights in July 2011 and it was our favorite place amongst all of the places we stayed while in Italy. It was a beautiful apartment. Very well appointed as had everything you could possibly need. It was very spacious and very comfortable because everything was so well laid out. Sonia was great and made us feel very welcome. So clean and well lit. It also has elevator. We would definitely stay here again and have already recommended it to a number of friends as it is such a great apartment. You walk out the front door and there is a wonderful bakery and the lovely Via Fillungo. What a wonderful way to start your day!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, people with disabilities.
Owner response: Thank you so much for staying with us! We were so happy to be your hosts!

Dear Sonia, we love Lucca and we love your apartment. It is the perfect location and everything is within walking distance. We especially love being able to take midday rest without having to go too far. Sonia you were so gracious and helpful getting us settled and also giving lots of great places to visit, to eat and shop. Your place is wonderful and we loved coming there to relax after long walks throughout the city. We are planning to be traveling in Italy again next year and I will send you an enquiry to re-book. Thank you so much for your kindness and for letting us staying in your wonderful apartment!
