- This is a place to get away from your daily life and take a step back in time. We go there to fish, bike and play, but also to slow down and let life come to us. This house reminds me of time at my grandparents house in rural Virginia, where we knew all the neighbors, waved as people drove by and did not have a long list of things we had to do....moreless

Wonderful and charming
Wonderful and charming
My family and some friends stayed for three nights in the cabin and absolutely loved it. We felt at home the second we walked in the door. The cabin was set up for everything that we need and the wood fireplace was a wonderful place to sit around and talk and tell stories. It was a wonderful place just to get away from everything and spend time with family and we look forward to visiting it again in the future.

Owner response: This is the kind of response that every vacation home owner loves. This family truly understood the Ovando experience. It really is about slowing life down to family and friends and enjoying a relaxing stay in a small town that may not have high speed everything at its disposal. Come enjoy this place!
Ovando is a nice tiny town a long way away from anywhere. You will need to bring your own coffee pot. Internet is poor and wifi is almost non existing. Cell service is hit and miss, mostly miss. There is no television reception, local, cable or otherwise, bring movies with you. If you don't enjoy real firm beds you will also need an air mattress or something. Enjoyed the town of Lincoln, good jerky there.

Owner response: This is not and never was intended to be a "city" vacation. It is a place to get away from our every day lives. So we do not have TV, just some movies. We do have internet, as a basic DSL speed, and wifi needs a password, which is provided on premises. There are two coffee makers. A french press and a stove top espresso maker. We have provided firm beds for the comfort and stability of our backs, which is how we like our beds. There is an Air Mattress in the garage ready to go for extra people or for anyone who prefers a much softer experience. This is not the bed we prefer or want to offer our guests, but it is available if desired. And yes, cell service is poor. It is usually best on the west side of the house. The residents of Ovando have several times rejected the idea of a new cell tower in town. So please come here to get away and slow down. Come for the legendary fishing, hunting, bird watching and relaxing.
Ovando and the surrounding Blackfoot River Valley are beautiful areas of Montana to visit. We had a relaxing stay at the Farm House, and it is perfect for traveling with dogs. The property is on over an acre and fenced, and the friendly neighborhood dog, Buddy, will stop by and welcome you! We visited in spring, so it was still a little cool, and the wood stove easily and quickly warmed up the whole house. It was also nice having a king-size bed in the master bedroom upstairs. Thanks again for a wonderful vacation!

About the owner: I love all things outdoors, then enjoy hanging out with friends for good food and conversation. In Ovando, I can do it all, then watch the sun set over the vast and open valley, while enjoying the beverage of my choice.
Why the Owner Chose Ovando:
Ovando is real Montana. Open, gorgeous and quiet. It is the place my wife and I go to just relax and not worry about things that need to get done. And now that it is finished, we thought, why not share this place with people from all over that may not get a chance to enjoy Montana for long or often. With multiple access points for world class fishing, endless backcountry room for hunting, skiing and hiking, multiple lakes nearby for all kinds of water activity, it justs seems like a place people will want to vacation in.
The Unique Benefits at this Farmhouse:
Space! Time, or a lack of watching it. Real. As in Montana as it was 50 years ago. The famous Trixie's Bar within walking distance. Extremely nice people, without the attitude found in more expensive towns. Endless bird and animal watching, at all times of year. Make your own unique day, and share it with us.
