If you are interested in staying in an extremely QUIET place where wake up and see the amazing Mt. Shasta from your very comfy, king-sized bed, view stars, snow, and be able to hear all the sounds in nature, you will love this cabin. This is a lovely home and the kitchen is well-stocked with every imaginable appliance and utensil. It is so close to some of the best hiking and Mt. Shasta City, if you need anything. Dave is wonderful. He can tell you where to find the best hikes and is quick to respond if there is anything you need. It is definitely a special place.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.

We had a fantastic stay at this beautiful cabin over Xmas break. The cabin is immaculate, very well equipped and in great condition. It is obvious much thought and love were put into the design and decoration. It is located very close to Mt Shasta and the view from the master bedroom on the second floor is amazing,, exactly as depicted in the pictures. The cabin itself is gorgeous with nice woodwork, heated floors (no fireplace), fully equipped kitchen with high end appliances and many additional amenities that are not mentioned in the listing (such as a telescope on the second floor to view the snow capped peak of Mt Shasta). The second floor has a master bedroom with a nice jetted tub and a desk for catching up on work (the internet connection was spotty possibly due to the snow storm),,, a good excuse not to do any work on our vacation. Dave the owner was great with a laid back attitude, was available for questions and requests (loaned us his snow shoes as we forgot ours), yet ensured we had full privacy. We enjoyed sledding down the long steep driveway and hiking on the property to the adjacent pond with our dogs. We would definitely recommend staying here and would love to come back again during the summer. Thank you Dave! You have built a beautiful cabin and we enjoyed staying with you!Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Dave's cabin. The twelve acres of property gave us privacy and a great setting, yet it was easy to get there and only a short drive to Shasta City. The cabin had everything we needed and then some. Very comfortable and cozy, a nice blend of amenities and an earthy quality. Though it rained off and on, the mountain revealed itself out of the clouds on the second morning. You can see it from the front of the cabin and through the kitchen window. But the best view is from the second story deck off the master bedroom. We bundled up, brought out our coffee, and soaked in the experience for an hour. The cabin is well insulated against the weather, and the ambient floor heating is subtle but very effective. There are too many extras and added little touches to list them all, but the thermos to keep coffee hot, the telescope for Shasta viewing, and the roomy shower are just a few. To sum it all up, we will be staying here again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My husband and I had a wonderful time at this rental. It was definitely a relaxing and serene escape. The house was extremely comfortable, and the upstairs bedroom with it's amazing view of Mt. Shasta was perfect, complete with a jetted tub! It was off the beaten path, but not so far from town to make it a hassle. We drove into Mt. Shasta for dinner at the Wayside Grill (great food, by the way), and to go sightseeing the next day. The drive to the house was enough to feel like we were secluded, but we were still able to enjoy the nearby town and amenities. The property owner was very quick to answer any questions over the phone before our stay, and he was very accomodating as well. I was very pleased with our experience!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.

We had a brilliant time ! The house was clean and fully furnished. The area was out of the way yet close to highway 5 to get to anywhere you want. It was a fantastic change of pace from our busy lifestyles. The highlight for us was the wonderful elevated bed that has the most heavenly Mt. Shasta view....Magnificent !!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Truly a great experience. Very tranquil and quite home away from the I-5, which is very nice, and secluded in the epic range of trees. Superior quality home with radiant floor heating. I am a professional PV, hot water systems and radiant floor installer and I know how well these systems work and so too does the system at this house. Very comfortable inside the home. Its like a getaway at home away from home. I highly recommend this to anyone!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had the best time. The home is very comfortable, with great design and craftsmanship. Wish we had this kitchen in our house, I volunteered for dishes just for the view! From family BBQ's on the patio enjoying sunset colors on Mt Shasta, to quite solitude at the pond listening to the creek, birds, and the wind through the trees. Our stay was relaxing and enjoyable, and highly recommended.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My boyfriend and I rented this home for a week and it was absolutely perfect. Dave the owner is awesome, super friendly, and very helpful. We felt very much at home, it was warm, inviting, and a peaceful pleasant atmosphere. Better even than the description!! Seriously, it is even more beautiful in person. The cabin is custom built by Dave, a work of art in itself, and has many unique and interesting features throughout. The floor is heated which we thought was lovely and luxurious :) The whole place is immaculately clean, as if it was brand new. The kitchen was incredible, everything you need. Blender, food processor, cappucino machines, gorgeous huge oven, large thermoses... we made a Thanksgiving dinner during our stay and everything we needed was right there. The view from the bedroom is INCREDIBLE. Can lay in bed and gaze at Mt Shasta. Theres even a telescope for up close viewing of the mountain. It was heavenly. The jacuzzi tub was super nice as well - great jets, very relaxing. The location could not have been better - close to Shasta town but was in the woods, secluded, private, surrounded by gorgeous trees, has its own private pond. Not a far drive off the 5 either. All in all highly recommended. I have already told my parents about this place and will recommend it to anyone I know traveling to Shasta. We will definitely rent this place again over any other place in Shasta. Cant wait to return :)Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We wanted a quick getaway from the Bay Area and had never explored this part of California. This house was the perfect way to do it. We hiked around during the day, came home to a fire and watched Mt. Shasta change colors as the sun set. When it got to cold at night we snuggled up in the massive bed and watched the stars. The best part was our dogs got to come too. They experienced their first snow! The owner was friendly and helpful.Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway.

We were so lucky to find this amazing rental! We showed up mid day and were kindly greeted by Dave and his sweet dogs. We fell in love with this house immediately and the location was perfect. We spent the days exploring lakes and hiking trails that Dave (the owner) recommended and all of the places we went were amazing. Shasta is a town full of magic and this Vacation Rental added so much to our stay. We spent all of our evenings enjoying the well stocked, and super clean kitchen. We cooked every night and star gazed after dinner every evening. We awoke with the sun every morning as it rose over Mount Shasta outside our bedroom window. We couldn't have asked for a better place! Dave joined us for a dinner one evening and we learned so much from him about the area and some great hidden places to explore. We were so inspired when we left that we headed straight for Tahoe to Elope after a year of being engaged. We plan on returning every year to Dave's home and look forward to exploring more of Shasta's hidden gems and of course catching up with Dave. We highly recommend this place for couples or friends seeking some real R&R in one of the most peaceful areas we have ever been to. Enjoy!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

About the owner: My name is Dave, I am an avid summer and winter enthusiast. I can help direct you to the best spots to have fun.
Why the Owner Chose Mount Shasta:
I chose this property because it is not too far from town, it has a creek and pond, killer view, and the only sound you hear is the wind in the trees and the water rushing by.
The Unique Benefits at this Chateau / Country House:
Watch the sun come up over the mountain in the mornings. Lay on the deck at night and star gaze at the millions of stars in the sky.
Enjoy laying in the hammock next to the pond and creek. Swimming in the pond will refresh you, as the water comes straight from mountain snowpack.
The spring flowers are spectacular along the mountain stream and around the pond.
