Thank you, Linda and Jerome, for a beautiful and relaxing time at your wonderful casita in the desert! The newly decorated decor is both beautiful and comfortable. November is and awesome month to visit. Every morning we enjoyed our coffee on the wrap around patio while watching birds and other desert animals forage. The sunsets were spectacular. Our late night walks in the safe neighborhood allowed for great star gazing. We love your casita!!!

Peaceful Oasis Mike and I stayed at this amazing Casita for one week. We entered a world we had never imagined. The pictures are a far cry from the actual beauty of this location. Sunsets in the evening to horses whinnying and the gentle sound of quail in the morning. The location is lovely and the casita is very quaint and comfortable. Jerome and Linda were just a few steps away and glad to share great dining and area activities. This is a “Peaceful Oasis” from the everyday hustle and bustle. The McIntyres

The Casita was better than advertised. The place was warm and comfortable. It was both far away and close to everything. Jerome and Linda were very hospitable. The cacti were starting to bloom, the house and the grounds were immaculate. When we come back to Scottsdale, this is where we must stay. Thank you, Jerome and Linda for sharing your beautiful Casita with us!!

This is a wonderful place to stay if you enjoy georgeous sunsets and sunrises, desert bird calls and peace and quiet. The casita is perfectly maintained and the well stocked kitchen is as easy as being home. Many good resturants and shopping areas are right around the corner, as are walking and biking trails. This is a home away from home and Jerome and Linda make you feel like family guests. My husband and I spent seven lovely days here and plan to come back. I would recommend it highly.

Relax in the Sonoran desert
Relax in the Sonoran desert
My wife and I spent a good share of January through March in the casita. We wanted to have time to get to know the area around north Scottsdale, and the casita was a wonderful home base for exploring the area. The casita is far enough from the owners' home that you feel you have your privacy, and yet they make certain you have what is needed to make your stay pleasant and comfortable. This is in a beautiful area of the Sonoran desert, and we enjoyed taking walks in the desert on the trails available. For mountain bikers, there are a lot of trails in the McDowell Mtn. Preserve, as well as closer at hand in the area just northeast of Pima/Dynamite intersection; if you're here for an extended stay, the mountain biking can be a lot of fun once you find the trails. We had a real feeling of being out in nature, with the birds waking us every morning to feed alongside the rabbits outside the casita patio. It was fun to see the screech owl perched in the saguaro by the casita, and we were pleased to see a beautiful bobcat once. We were in the area long enough, we were able to experience a change in the season, with many of the desert plants leafing out, and the floor of the desert was covered with a patchwork of green plants by the time we left. While we we were living in the Sonoran desert, entertainment was available when we wanted it--Barrett-Jackson car auction in January, Phoenix Golf Tournament, baseball spring training, many golf courses, lots of restaurants of all types, Scottsdale really does have a lot of events during that time of year. Then there were times when we just borrowed books from the casita library and relaxed on the sunny patio. The kitchen is stocked with all necessary utensils for typical food preparation, and has a pantry area for food storage. The casita really does provide you with your own home while you are there, unlike renting a hotel room or condo. If you are interested in really getting to know what the Sonoran desert is like, or just need a place to get away and decompress, I highly recommend this property.

My partner and I had the pleasure of returning for a second stay at the Landau casita. Last time we stayed in the spring and this time we came at Thanksgiving. The owners have updated the decor and the casita is better than ever! Comfortable, romantic and cozy inside, serene and beautiful outside. Awesome! The rabbits and a variety of birds greeted us each morning as we sat outside on the wrap-around patio with steaming cups of brewed coffee. What a place to decompress from all the stress and hurry of our lives! Although it feels completely remote from the clamor of the city, there are abundant trails to walk or bike ride. - We especially enjoyed the romantic private indoor jacuzzi. I definetly recommend this place to relax and enjoy and perhaps renew your souls.

Haven of Beauty, Peace and Rest
Haven of Beauty, Peace and Rest
It is the setting, wrap around patio and comfortable furnishings that make this place so very unique. Add to that, Linda and Jerome, absolutely wonderful hosts and now friends, who invite you in as family and you are in for a wonderful Scottsdale experience. Upon arriving you immediately feel at home and your tensions melt away. Make no mistake, you are not downtown, but rather in a desert setting of lightly traveled streets, many of them gravel, no street lights that permit you to see the night sky in all its beauty and where there may be as many horses as people in the neighborhood. However, within minutes, you have access to great restaurants, shopping, art galleries and the multitude of things that the greater Scottsdale and Phoenix area offers. Our two weeks went too quickly and we look forward to returning.

We found this unique and very special (and spacious) Casita the perfect venue for our Arizona desert experience. My wife is an artist and found this special location provided unlimited and varied subject material. The casita is fully equiped, all the comforts of home...plus, plus! While situated on a 2 acre desert property, providing a feel of being in the midst of the desert, it is only a 5 minute drive to the supermarket, drug store, etc. The month went by almost too quickly, and we already miss the warmth and special ambiance of 'Alma del Desierto', and look forward to our next visit. And a big thank you to our supportive, kind and generous hosts, (and now good friends) Jerome and Linda Landau Bruce and Karen Walker

Owner response: It was a real pleasure having Bruce & Karen, our Canadian visitors, staying for the month of January 2012. As with many other of our guests over these few years, they take great delight in enjoying all the many pluses in our one-of-a-kind guest house, including the surrounding beauty & tranquility of our unique North Scottsdale Sonoran desert. It can't get much better than this!! We really appreciate those who come to our Alma del Desierto, experiencing in full measure all the wonder our place and its environment has to offer. Since we also live in our own home on this very large 2.5 acre-property, we have the opportunity to assist our guests as the need arises, & joyfully witness them truly enjoying their holiday. Though we might be a little sad to see new friends leave, we're thrilled they leave with such satisfaction & happy memories!! Jerome & Linda
From the time I entered the driveway and saw the casita I was charmed by the home itself , by the owners who welcomed me with open arms and by the surrounding environment . I loved the different sitting areas and especially the book shelves full of wonderful titles to enjoy. The decor of the casita is so restfull, I immediately felt relaxed and serene. We were close enough to the city when we wanted a restaurant or entertainment but I could have stayed in the casita for days and not missed the outside world. The kitchen is well stocked and the bedroom is wonderful. The sky is fabulous from sunset, to millions of stars and if I got up in time, sunrise. Thank you so much Linda and Jerome. My stay was wonderful.

The casita is an excellent choice. It is clean, spacious and located in the very best part of Scottsdale North, unspoiled desert all around, yet convenient to all that Scottsdale offers. Recommend!
