Great relaxing weekend

I stayed here in late April with my boyfriend, another couple, and their dog. It was great for our needs! The dog had plenty of space to roam and we enjoyed playing games on the kitchen table (there were quite a few provided). The house overlooks a farm--one morning we awoke to cows in the fields, the next morning it was sheep--and Amish horse and buggies drove by. The Goodville Vacation Home is located about 20-30 minutes from the majority of the sights in the area but the drive is beautiful. Overall, a great place to relax!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Thank you so much for a wonderful weekend. We knew we were in for a wonderful time when we found the cupcakes & note on arrival. Our friends got into town earlier than expected & we even had the chance to check out Lancaster & Sadie's bakery in the same day. I think my wife put it best when she declared "I don't want to go home. This would be the perfect house for us." as our son played with the cat. Thanks again, and I hope we'll be able to stay here again soon. Everyone keeps saying they wish we had an extra day.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

"The house feels like a home, warm and inviting. Trish was the perfect blend of hostess, welcoming but not intrusive. Her daughter's cookies were delicious! Thank you!"Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

"Thank you for the wonderful hospitality! This was the perfect place for us to be close to my parents but "out of their hair." We loved the selection of family videos, games and the big puzzle (which we finished the last night!) The kids loved the swing, the clip-clop of the buggies passing by, and the kitties roaming around. It was a great week and the kids are asking if we can come back."Did you find this review helpful? My family stayed in this place for 3 days to watch Sight and Sound Theater's Jonah. We did not expect that this vacation home will become the highlight of our little vacation. We have been to a few vacation rentals in the past but there is something quite distinct about this place. We walked in and there is a sense of peace and restfulness in this house. Trisha had a vase of beautiful flowers from her garden,a plate of yummy cookies and a handwritten note to welcome us. The house was very clean. There were 9 people in our group, including 2 little girls and 7 adults but we never felt crowded. There was plenty of space for everybody. The kitchen and dining area quickly became our favorite place as we prepared many meals together and as we were catching up on each other. The view and the yard was breathtaking inviting us to carry our lunch outside and picnic under the shade of the huge walnut tree.Gentle breeze, rolling green hills, the view of cows and sheep grazing in the fields across the street, green cornfields towards the right side but my favorite is the view of vibrant colors of Trisha's flower garden. Except for a little bit of outlet shopping which is irresistible especially to our Canadian family,we did not feel the need to go out or even eat out.The beauty and serenity in this place restored our souls. It's a truly remarkable place and even more remarkable owners who are easy to do business with, helpful, accommodating and generous. Our sincere thanks and deep gratitude for the opportunity to spend an awesome 3 days in Goodville Vacation House.Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: We are humbled by your wonderful review. We hope that all who come to our place feel so refreshed!

Truly enjoyed our stay at Goodville Vacation Home. From the moment we walked in the house we felt like family not just visitors. From the fresh flowers and cookies to the personal note thanking us for coming we felt like we were at home. Such a beautiful home, took us back to a simpler time when home was the center of the family. House was in a great location, we were able to enjoy the beauty of the country and watch the Amish as they traveled back and forth to town, but also had the convienence of being so close to all the major attractions and shopping. Owner Trish was amazing, she made us feel so welcome. Hope to plan another trip to this home in the future.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Interaction with the owner was a success. Response was timely and helpful. We were blessed to stay in this home. My lady friends and I visited the area mainly to watch a play at Sight&Sound Theater and do some shopping. We were welcomed with a plateful of delicious cookies, fresh flowers and a personalized card. Home was clean and comfortable. We recommend this place! Thank you for your hospitality, Trish.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: What a great idea to get the girls together for a weekend away! Lots to do in the area to keep ladies happy!

About the owner: I enjoy taking care of the house, and preparing it for our guests. In addition to the vacation house, I have a flower business. Some of my gardens can be found on this property. My husband and I and our kids enjoy living in this area, and we are active in our church and in the community.
Why the Owner Chose Churchtown:
Our family lived in this house before we moved into the house next door. So we have many good memories of our own in this house.
As for our interest in vacation houses, this is the way we enjoy traveling, and that has helped us to know how to prepare to make our guests as comfortable as possible.
The Unique Benefits at this Farmhouse:
The Amish and Mennonites who have called Lancaster County home for generations are certainly a big reason why many people choose to visit this area.
When you realize that there are real people who choose to live with out electricity and cars (not to mention no computers or cell phones!) in this day and age, not only is it interesting, but what better backdrop for a vacation where you want to relax and slow down!
But we don't want to under sell what this area has to offer:
-Sight and Sound Auditorium
-Shady Maple Smorgasboard
-Gallery Row art district
-Adamstown Antique district
-etc, etc, etc!
