My three girlfriends and I had a wonderful weekend at this cottage/home. The accommodations were just as described and the view was beautiful. The owner was extraordinarily helpful prior to our stay and followed up with me afterwards to make sure everything went smoothly. We enjoyed the quiet of the wooded lakeside setting and the proximity to town.Owner response: Kris, thanks for the great review. I am glad that you and your friends were able to enjoy the cottage and everything that I love about it as well. Keep us in mind for the future! Gayle

We spent a week in at this cottage the summer of 2010 with a family of 6. Pentwater has a lot to offer. The cottage itself is darling, clean, and accommodating. Beds were comfortable and layout is conducive to casual hanging out together. Great views of water through pine trees...you definitely feel like you are up north, yet you are conveniently located to activity. Swimming area, deck, all great with lots of afternoon and early evening sun. The town of Pentwater has nice shopping (go to the Bitchen Kitchen), a variety of restaurant choices, friendly walk-a-bility, and great jazz at The Gull on Wednesday and Sunday nights. Bring your boat! Easy docking in front of cottage and boat slip close by. Rent this cottage.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

I have visited Pentwater for 10 years and this cottage and location is one of the best I've seen in the area. Cottage is adorable, clean, and well maintained. It has great views, spacious indoor and outdoor living spaces, and a great mid and lower deck area and shallow, weed-free swimming area. We brought our boat and used the dock power to plug in. We tubed, fished, and spent time in the friendly town of Pentwater. The state park is great for walking the pier and watching the sunset. You will want to come back to this location every year.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Year Purchased: 2006
About the owner: The owners are a family of five, with a dog and a cat. They own a family cottage in pentwater in addition to this listing and have been falling in love with the area more every year, since 1999.
Why the Owner Chose Pentwater:
The location of this cottage is on Pentwater's Big Bayou. The cove provides a quiet place to keep your boat, swim safely, and feel like you are 'up north'. The street of Ottawattamie is wooded and quiet, off the main road of Long Bridge. It is safe for walking and biking and we really like the cottage's proximity to the state land where we walk or run daily. We fell in love with the village of Pentwater and what it has to offer. Check out the chamber of commerce website for art festivals, craft shows, parades, fishing tournaments, and all sorts of other small town getaway experiences in and around Pentwater. Pentwater is a welcoming community, this cottage has friendly neighbors (if you happen to run into them), and It is close to Lake Michigan, Silver Lake, and Ludington. Pentwater itself has been called the Cape Cod of the Midwest and we are glad it is somewhat of a well-kept secret.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
We love fishing, tubing and kneeboarding on the lake, relaxing and getting away from busy lives. Fish off the dock. Or take your boat out on Lake Michigan or Pentwater Lake. There are many charter fishing boats in Pentwater that regularly bring in a great catch of salmon and lake trout. A walk through town is always fun. There is fun shopping and restaurants without being too big, busy and overwhelming. This cottage is perfect for being active or for mellowing out. There's a table for playing cards or doing puzzles that we have many memories of enjoying a glass of wine, listening to a Tiger game or music in the background, or simply hearing the wind in the pines, fish splashing at dusk, and crickets singing us to sleep. Come and visit us in Pentwater. You won't regret it.
