We arrived late in the night d/t flight delays, everyone was helpful and friendly. Room was clean and nice. Was a great place to crash for the nights. We didn't spend much time at pool but looked great. Thank you!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

The location of this condo makes it very convenient to everything in Kona and it was easy to walk to restaurants and stores. It included free parking, a swimming pool and hot tub on the property. The kind owners left us a welcome basket, which was very thoughtful. Nearby restaurants that we enjoyed included Humpy's, Huggio's and Lava Java. We loved the Hulihee Palace and the free concert (every third Sunday at 4 pm on the palace grounds). You can easily walk to all of these places from the condo. There was lovely landscaping throughout the Kona Islander condo area. The condo is nicely decorated and comfortable. However, the condo could use some maintenance. The kitchen cabinets are starting to warp. The bathroom light is extremely rusty. The shower dripped our entire three day stay. As my husband and I stayed over a long weekend, the owner was unable to get a plumber to come out to do a repair. The owner was, however, quite responsive to our issue and took our concern seriously, which we both were impressed by. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this condo to others. It's a good value for the price.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

My husband and I rented this condo for the week leading up to the Hawaii Ironman, and it was just perfect! The back gate opens right to Ali'i drive where we were 0.5 miles from the pier and right on both the bike and run course. Affordable, clean, cozy, and great location, the perfect place to train for and race Kona! Owners were very responsive and organized and had a nice welcome basket waiting for us.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing.

Stayed at the Jeffrey's condo @ Kona Islander Inn. Perfectly located close to Lava Java and the Farmers Market. Great little lanai and possibility to BBQ at the pool area. Missed a stove but the toaster and microwave oven worked great. Wi-fi in the reception area. Very nice to be greeted with a sweet card as well as some local delicacies. Would very much like to stay there when I visit Kailua-Kona next time.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Perfect location to food and shopping! Quiet and cozy. Gift basket was waiting for us upon our arrival from the owner!!! The only down side to this rental was the bed. We felt the mattress was in need of replacing.Recommended for: Adventure seekers.

We stayed an enjoyable week for the 2008 Ironman and found that the Kona Islander Inn well placed for the event. The many personal touches we found in their studio condo was a credit to both Scott & Linda.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

The room & Accommodations were absolutely wonderful. Adn the little extras made the difference. The beach mats, beach towels , all the cooking utensils... & the blender made amazing Pina Coladas. Thank you for helping to make our honeymoon fantastic.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2005
About the owner: We moved to Kona from Minnesota in 1999 and love it here. We're not retired, but we feel like we're on vacation anytime we're not at work. It's just a great place to be. We both work with the schools in West Hawaii and love the chance to contribute to the education of our future leaders. One of them might become President, so we have to do a good job.
Why the Owner Chose Kona Islander Inn:
We decided to buy this unit because it has a comfortable, Old Hawaii feel to it. We knew we'd be happy to stay there or to have friends and family stay there. It's relaxing, quiet and comfortable. Plus, although you have a half-kitchen (fridge, microwave, coffee pot, blender, and toaster oven with all utensils) and a gas barbecue for cooking, you're within a block of a number of restaurants for beakfast, lunch or dinner. You're across from the ocean and you can snorkel anywhere along the Kona coast. Or, catch your tour at the Pier, just a couple of blocks up Alii Drive. It's as convenient as it can be.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
The comfort and convenience of this unit is what we enjoy the most. You're near enough to see the pool and the barbecue grills, but not so close that you're getting splashed. You're within steps of the ocean along Alii Drive, but you're insulated from the noise of the cars that cruise along it. And there's nothing very far away, so you can easily get along without a car if you want to hang out in Kailua Village. Get a car or take tours if you want to see Volcanoes National Park (which is awesome, by the way) or the waterfalls and botanical wonders of the more rainy east side of the island.
