Majestic Mountain Cabin Retreat a Cozy Restful Place to Enjoy
- Minimum stay:2-3 nights

- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:No
This cabin is very cozy, nicely decorated and feels like a dream mountain retreat. This is a beautiful and wonderful remote spot in the Idaho Mountains with fishing, snowmobiling, hiking and quading just waiting for you to expierience it. Anderson Ranch Reservoir is a few miles down the road with boating, fishing and swimming. There are also natures hot pots (Baumgartner Hot Springs is up the road a bit and hot springs are also located along the river by the bridge.
The outdoor fire pit is waiting for you to roast marshmallows and cook hot dogs. Roasting sticks are in the cabin. Maybe you'll be lucky and a beautiful buck or deer will come to see what you are up to. At dawn and dusk sometimes Deer and Elk wander by the cabin. It's fun to watch all of nature just out the front door.
In the winter there are miles and miles of groomed snowmobile trails. You can drive in and snowmobile out from our cabin. You can snowmobile north to Rocky Bar (a ghost town) and then head towards Atlanta or loop back past the Trinity Lakes at 9,000 ft in elevation. So many sites are breathtaking and a beauty to behold no matter the season. It's a wonderful place to use your photography skills and take family pictures to treasure forever.
If you don't have the "toys" (i.e. quads, motorcycles, boats, wave runners, etc) there are many things to do and see close to home or if you like to explore further you can drive up past Rocky Bar to Atlanta or to the Trinity Lakes - or take a drive through the mountains to Sun Valley or Boise via the back roads. Try your luck at panning for gold in the rivers if you want to or have a picnic under the soft pines near the mountains and lakes.
Come and experience the mountains!
THEMED DECORATED ROOMS
Our cabin is decorated with items from around the world and near home in the mountains, things that make us feel at peace, calm and happy. Each of the main rooms (bedrooms and living areas) have themed decor, this makes for a fun and memorable experience
The Living Room is called "THE FOUR SEASON RETREAT "and is a comfortable place to gather with family and friends for talks and laughter around the warm and cozy wood stove. The couches are deep and soft with pictures and decorating items depicting nature in all its' seasons and wonder. There are battery lite candles for your ambiance in the deep window sills
The Family Room is a large Loft and and entertainment area and is called "NATIVE VOICES" and a place to relax and chat or watch movies. This area makes a great teenage hangout and is decorated with Indian rugs and baskets. From Africa we have wall hangings and woven art and hats, there are lots of hand painted leather pillows and carvings in ebony and stone from Egypt along with a lot of personality. This is also where I exercise and there are many DVD's for that purpose.(This room also has 3 couches that can be made into hide-a-beds, there is 1 king, 1 queen and 1 twin size.)
The master bedroom is called "SERENITY MOUNTAIN" and is decorated with tapestries with mountains and lakes and beautiful original art of the local mountain area. The colors and decor make this a peaceful retreat.
The upstairs bedroom "BOHEMIAN WANDERINGS" has rich fabric and brightly colored bedspread with a woven wall hanging from a far land and the closet is covered with sheers and beads from top to floor. There are battery operated candles waiting to be used in the deep window sill and local art showing the beauties of nature near the cabin. There is currently a twin bed also in this room that could be used by a parent who needs their little one close at hand.
The last bedroom is a Large Loft area with three double beds and a small crib and rocking horse. This room is called "WILDERNESS DREAMS" The bedspreads have bears and moose and friendly wild animals on them and are cozy and thick with down filling. There are 2 canoe shelves with fun items on them and a bright custom painted mirror. This is a inviting place for a anyone adult to children to spend time with the people they love the most. My married nieces and their children loved being up here together.

The Location of Cabin was Great, only 13 miles from the lake dock... by a nearby Bridge in which the fishing of some sweet trout was caught, and close by a small store and cafe if any necessary items were needed. The towns people were incredible pleasant. The cabin photos displayed were accurate, and the floor-plan very functional for a large gathering. The owners were very helpful and even brought a plate of cookies that were delicious. The main issues we had there was there is entirely too much stuff in the closets and on the counters, not leaving any room for our food or belongings. They stated the water pressure goes on and off, when actually the plumbing system was out and we weren't able to take showers, do dishes, and toilet flushing was used w/buckets much of the time, and no compensation for this inconvenience was reimbursed. When the plumbing is fixed, i would recommend this cabin, fair price, great people, good location, lots of parking, and a CLOSED in deck for pets and smaller Children!!!!! And my mom in law's loved the Large Deck for her coffee in morning and later in day, happy hour!!! The outside grill was terrific, too.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: We did have water problems while our guests were here and have taken action to remedy that situation. We have issued a partial refund to make up for their inconvenience due to the water problems and they seemed happy with the refund. We had been discussing what to do for a refund but hadn't taken the time to make a decision since we have been working to prepare for the Trinity Ridge forest fire. The backfire was started right behind the cabin. (It's still very pretty here so don't let the fire scare you away!!!) The fire started while these guests were here and we had been on notice that we could have to evacuate with very short notice for the entire week after they left. Thus we had been extremely busy trying to get everything fire ready before the fire arrived at our cabin. This cabin is our home that we rent for families to come to the mountains to make memories. Thus we do have things in some of the cupboards and closets. We have half of the closet in the master bedroom for guests and have several kitchen cupboards for guest to use while they are here. We also have all of the drawers in the master bedroom and two dressers in the upstairs area are also available for our guests to use. When we talked with the guests they indicated that they had not noticed the drawer space was available for use. We have cleaned off the counters and will make more cupboard space for our guests to use when they are here. This cabin is our favorite place to be and we love it here. We rent this cabin so others can have that same same experience with their families & friends! Note that even though they mentioned the water shortage & the space that they still loved both the location and the cabin!

We stayed recently for the 4th of July weekend. We had a blast. The cabin was larger than it looked on the internet. We had a very large group so this was better than expected. With 5 beds and 3 hide-a-ways we had room for everyone. The large deck also accommodated a few who wanted quiet from those snoring. Each family took a turn at meal prep, and there were plenty of dishes and tools to meet each unique need. A grill was available on the deck. We enjoyed the deck and the coolness of the cabin during the hot days, and the fire-pit in the evenings. There were plenty of spaces to spread out so we didn’t feel crowded. The Boise River is right at the cabin, with several places to access it. It was running low and we were able to canoe for several short trips, giving every family member time on the river. The reservoir was 10 miles away, so close enough. There was a couple of hot springs near-by that were great for ending the evenings in. We also brought ATV’s. There were plenty of places to see on them. The main road doesn’t have a shoulder, but traffic was light and polite so that I enjoyed a bike ride in the morning. A nice quiet golf course is just a mile away. Our hosts Gary and Denise are very gracious. We were greeted with cupcakes after our 7 hour drive, a very thoughtful gift. If you have a need they are happy to address it, from more dishes to help with tools for a disabled tire. I would very much recommend this cabin and its owners for a relaxing or activity filled retreat. I hope to visit again as well.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing.

Owner info

About the owner: We have been enjoying this area since before we were married. (That was shortly after the crust of the earth had cooled according to our children. . .) We have another cabin just two doors down (also for rent on VRBO) where we have been coming for a respite from the world for over 30 years. We have lived in the Timbuktu region of west Africa (Mali), Mississippi, Texas, Utah, Idaho and Arizona. This is our favorite spot out of all the places we have lived or visited.
Why the Owner Chose Featherville:
We love this part of Idaho. It's out of the way and most people don't even know it exists, but you can still get to Sun Valley or Boise in a couple of hours. There are all types of recreation and truly stunning mountain vistas. The lakes and river give us many choices for fun and recreation. After living in or visiting many parts of the world, this is the place we chose to call home.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
We have set the cabin up with themed rooms and have named them. The main living area is the Four Seasons Retreat, the master bedroom is the Serenity Mountain, the family area is Native Voices, the second bedroom is Bohemian Wanderings and the loft sleeping area is called Wilderness Dreams.
The two bedrooms have queen beds while the second bedroom also has a twin bed. Wilderness Dreams has three double beds and there are three hide-a-beds in the Native Voices area - one is a king, one is a queen and one is a twin.
