We were two families of 3 (2 moms, 2 dads, and 2 girls 8 and 10) vacationing together. When we stepped into this fabulous house we breathed a sigh of relief. We had just driven down from Orlando after 3 hectic days of theme parks and had stayed in an "adequate" rental. The house is easy to find and private, yet very close to every amenity you need. The photos really don't do it justice. It was very clean and Lynne and Mark were available and close by if we needed them (we didn't). The kitchen had everything we could need or want and we did cook most of our meals at home. Just an FYI for anyone that's interested; the king bedroom and the twin queen room share a bathroom and the single queen room has its own ensuite. We didn't have a problem with this, just information. We visited the Dolphin Rescue Center about 15 minutes drive north, where the girls got into the water to meet a dolphin ($120 each). They were sooo excited! We drove down to Key West. It's a little over an hour drive and I recommend the burger at Schooners. I'm glad we went in the off-season, I hear it can be crazy. We were going to rent a boat but that darn Hurricane Sandy left the water too choppy for most of our week. Luckily for us, the huge tide-pool stayed calm and provided a safe haven for swimming and even kayaking! It was murky due to the high winds, but very swimmable. Bring your snorkel and mask. Other than the windy days, the weather was lovely and warm. The screened patio is great place to hang out in the evening to play cards or just sit around and chat, margaritas in hand (the blender in the kitchen is very good for making margaritas!). We would recommend this home and we would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

Owner response: You are very resourceful, kayaking in the lagoon when the Gulf was too windy ! Two or three strokes in the kayak and you'd be to the other side of the lagoon, one would think. It is obvious you all had a great attitude, making the most of the high winds. We are thankful you were able to enjoy the lagoon and that the hurricane stayed off shore. Other guests have visited the dolphin center to swim with the Dolphins and remarked that it was the highlight of their children's trip. This is on our bucket list for our children. We look forward to your return visit next time you visit the Keys !

We had a wonderful time swimming, kayaking and watching the sunset at this beautiful home. The house was exactly as described though the living room sofa was a bit creaky :-). We all loved the huge coffee table that looked like a ships door! Lots of fish and lobster in the lagoon and the kids had a great time swimming with them. The location is great and close to anything you need. Definitely lots of things to do nearby and the house was easy to locate and access. Will definitely stay again.

Owner response: Thank you for sharing your experience with our future guests !! We are pleased that you enjoyed swimming with our pet lobsters and fish. We too love the coffee table, although at one point I tried to talk my husband into replacing it with a smaller size. I am thankful that I listen to him on occasion :). You are correct, it was a door in its earlier life. In just a few short months, we will be replacing the existing sofa with a new, bigger, even more comfortable sofa which you will be able to enjoy during your return visit. We recommend booking early for next year. After purchasing this property last July, we are beginning to get repeat customers booking a year in advance !!

The house was great and the accommodations were exactly as described. The owners were very informative and answered all questions. For boating it was in a great location being located between the 7-mile bridge and Vaca cut which allowed for easy access to the Atlantic. The dock can easily handle two 22ft boats but a fish cleaning station would be nice. The close proximity to grocery and restaurants is very nice. Breakfast is definately" The Stuffed Pig". I would definately recommend this property to my friends and family.

Owner response: David - thank you so much for taking the time to share your positive experience with others !! I've heard of the "The Stuffed Pig" and will have to try them for breakfast during my next visit in the Keys. A fish cleaning station will be installed this fall for when you come back next summer :).

We had an incredible week and would definitely stay here again. The house was spacious and well equipped. The best part was the location. We really enjoyed sitting out by the water in the morning and watching the dolphins swim by. There was a school of parrot fish one morning. There was virtually no boat traffic to contend with...some boats going out in the morning and returning in the evening. It felt like we had the bay to ourselves and we had a blast wake boarding, skiing, kneeboarding and tubing. We have a small boat so we really liked that those not heading out could watch them while hanging out on the dock. We all liked jumping off the dock, swimming and snorkeling around. The previous renters left a gigantic raft which we tied to the dock and had a ton of fun playing on. We kayaked around and fished every day. In the evening we used up our bait feeding the fish in the tide pool. There is a huge variety of fish in there. A large conch and three lobsters came close to shore each evening. We spent a half day at the Dolphin research center and would recommend that. It was our first time there although we've been to the keys over 20 times...would definitely repeat that trip. We took the Spirit charter out to Sombrero and really liked the catamaran. We could sit on the rope net on the bow right over the water. It was really fun. Everything was clean and really nice. If you want to avoid idling through canals this is the place for you and its only a short run to vaca cut.

Owner response: Thank you for sharing your wonderful experiences !! We are so thankful you are enjoying our recently acquired Paradise location, and that you took such good care of the home. We too love that the property is in the middle of Marathon and within walking distance to grocery stores, restaurants, clothing stores, the post office, sandal outlets, and organic shops to name a few. Yet, once you step into the house or walk around to the sandy lagoon entrance in the back, you are transformed to Paradise, with your own private cove, lagoon, and sandy play area complete with a Palapa for shade !! I didn't know what a Palapa was, but learned it is the grass covered mini-hut near the waters edge of the property. We look forward to your return !!

Beginning with Mark and Lynn's assistance, this was a pleasure trip! The house was well described, lovely and met our expectations - the backyard and dock surpassed! We loved using the kayaks and snorkeling off the dock. We rented a boat from Fish n' Fun and visited a couple of different snorkeling areas. We went down to Key West and took the ferry to visit Fort Jefferson and to snorkel in the Dry Tortugas National Park. The location of the house made all of these activities easily manageable. Grocery shopping was convenient and we were at the nearby K-Mart more than once. We loved Sweet Savannah's Bakery - ordering a birthday cake for one of our guests. And we ate at the Stuffed Pig more than once. We also visited the Seaside Grille and had a fun filled evening. Marathon is a lovely area in the Keys and this house was everything anyone could hope for!

My wife and I along with our five kids had the best family vacation in years. The home was exactly as the pictures and descriptions portrayed. It was very clean and functional for our families needs on vacation. There was so much for our family to do just at the house. The tide pool was a big hit with all the sea creatures to see. The kayaks provided hours of fun and the kids and I snorkled all over the areas out in front off of the docks. The dock and davits accomodated our 25ft boat very well and was easy to manuever in and out of. The wash downs on the dock were also very accomodating. We are considering two weeks next year and this house is on the top of our list. We just have to figure out the dates. I would like to see a fish cleaning station on the dock next year but a cutting board and the concrete wall worked fine. Great house recomend to families especially with kids.

We go to the Keys every other year and this property ranks right up there with some of the best we've rented. Location was great for us since we fish the gulf side.It was somewhat secluded at the end of the street but close to any shopping needs you may have. The property was very clean and had all of the amenities that were described in the property bio.We had ten people and it slept all very comfortably.Kitchen was well equipped and the extra refridgerator in the garage was a plus. The boat dock is very accessible and will accomodate a good size boat.We enjoyed the kayaks and the fact that the owner had life jackets in the garage was a plus. The lagoon was clear and full of Keys wild life and was very educational for the few in our party that had never been down there. We would reccomend this property for anyone with a large party.

Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, families with young children.

We really enjoyed our week stay at the house. Mostly updated, the pictures show exactly what you can expect. When we travel with our family, we are used to rent houses or condos because it is so convenient to us. We were very impressed how clean the house was. The mattresses and furniture are very comfy too. For cooking, the kitchen is well equipped with pots, pans and others. We even had a delicious breakfast using the waffle maker! This house is perfect for two families since one of the master bedrooms with complete bath is completely separated from the rest of the house. It was perfect for our guest. The kitchen and two bathrooms have been nicely remodeled. Our favorite part of the house was the huge Florida room. We ate there every meal we spent at the house. The breeze was great and we enjoyed the views. There are many things to do in the house or around the house to keep everyone busy. The kayaks were a big hit with the boys. Every day, we went kayaking on the ocean, which was fabulous. Fishing has been fun too. Our sons had fun playing in the tide pool or around it chasing the crabs and looking at the sea life. If the weather wasn’t so great for a few hours, the foosball is a good game along with the other board games we found to entertain anyone. Even if the house is very quiet and relaxing, we just had a short ride to get on the main road with restaurants, grocery store and a few shops. The two fish markets have the best fresh fish. The beach is a little over a mile from the house, which is nice! Lastly, Key West is about an hour away. We will definitely consider this vacation house next time we go back to the Keys area.

My giflfriend and I spent 6 wonderful days with 2 other couples. The house is very spacious, and yet with a lot of privacy if you want it. We stayed in the Guest Cottage which has a king size bed and its own bathroom and shower. The views are awesome and sitting in the screened porch looking out over the gulf is sooooo relaxing. We had a great time fishing, relaxing at the nearby Sombrero beach - which is gorgeous, visiting the state park and the Dolphin Research Center. The sunsets viewed from local restaurants are some of the best in the world! It was great to have the kyaks available. We paddled the "kayak built for 2" out into the gulf and around one of the nearby islands. We could see the bottom almost all the time and saw some great sights under and above the water. The accomodations were clean and the home contained everything we needed for a wonderful vacation. We highly recommend this rental property and look forward to returning next season.

Owner response: Tom - We are delighted you and your girlfriend enjoyed your stay in our little slice of Paradise, and that you were able to use the kayaks and explore the gulf. We look forward to your return next season !!
