Location: Barcelona, Catalunya, Spain, Europe (Situated in the heart of Barcelona)
Accommodations: One-Bedroom Apartment, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath (Sleeps 2-4)
A wonderful apartment in a very central and very safe location! Only 10 minutes on foot to Plaza Catalunya and Las Ramblas and in the middle of the Eixample neighbourhood. This one-bedroom apartment is situated on the top floor of a building dating back to the turn of the 20th century -Modernista style - and has got an elevator.
It has been furnished with both very modern furniture (Italian design) and antiques. It has got parquet-flooring and the walls are covered with art.
The apartment has got a recently refurbished, very modern and comfortable bathroom with shower and a washing machine, a kitchen with all amenities, a large living room on two levels with a good quality sofa-bed, a bedroom with a large, comfortable, double-size bed and a built-in wardrobe, and, last but not least, a lovely private terrace full of Mediterranean plants (think bougainvillea, hibiscus, olive trees,...).
The terrace is a perfect sunny breakfast spot or could be used for a slow dinner complete with evening breeze. THE APARTMENT NOW HAS 24H FREE HIGH SPEED WIFI INTERNET CONNECTION (bring your own laptop).. you can work on the terrace amidst the plants.
The 55-square-meter apartment is very quiet although it has a very central position (ten minutes to Plaza Catalunya and Las Ramblas, ten minutes to Paseo de Gracia and Gaudi's houses, one minute to the covered Ninot food market, ten minutes to the neighbourhood of Gracia..) as it is situated away from the street. It has lots of light coming into it as well, which is a rarity in Barcelona.
Immediately outside the apartment are many little family-owned shops like a bakery, delicatessen, butcher, greengrocer, fishmonger, high-speed internet cafe, nail studio, etc. Nearby is a big food market and there are also many supermarkets in the vicinity.
The neighbourhood has got a wonderful village feeling to it; you will be living where the real Barcelonians live. Close by are also some great restaurants where you will find mostly local people and where prices are still reasonable.
This apartment is used by the owner when in the city and therefore very homely. There are bookshelves full of books, mostly in English, but also in Dutch, Italian, and Spanish. There are Persian carpets and other accessories that you will not find in a standard rental apartment. It has got air conditioning, heating, TV, video, DVD, stereo, and CD player with lots of CDs.
Great value for money. Only available to responsible adults or a responsible family.
REDUCED RATES FOR STAYS OVER 2 WEEKS!

The Unique Benefits of this One-Bedroom Apartment
When I am staying in the apartment I enjoy on getting up to make a strong coffee and having it on the terrace in my pyamas.. relaxing, looking at the plants, their flowers.. Later I prepare breakfast and have it on the terrace as well, going over my e-mail using the fast WIFI connection. If I would leave the building I will have all necessary shops on my left and right, various bakeries, the greengrocer, a cafe, the flower shop, the fish monger, the butcher, the market where they have a wonderful selection of olives, cured hams, Spanish cheeses and other interesting stuff.. In the evening I might cook a meal for friends and either have it on the terrace or inside, using the dining table where they'll admire all the contemporary art hanging on the walls. Or I might meet friends in one of the many typical non-touristy restaurants in this great neighbourhood.

All is well -- we are home after our wonderful 10 days in Barcelona and your nice apartment. We had a very good time and were very fortunate to have almost perfect weather. The apartment worked out so well -- very convenient, yet just far enough away from all the central action to have quiet and to almost feel like we are living in a lovely neighborhood. I did water your plants, although only once since the soil felt mosit for the first 7 days or so. We managed to eat breakfast on the terrace every day. Thanks again! Fiona

Hi Annemarie, Finally beginning to feel somewhat normal from the jet travel so I wanted to get a note off to thank you. We had a wonderful stay in Barcelona and found your apartment to be absolutely perfect . We enjoyed your art, substantial library and well-equipped kitchen. I'd suggest a serrated bread knife would be helpful. We particularly enjoyed the light cast by your wonderful lamp in the dining area. I liked the way the patterns of light played off of similar patterns in the adjacent art. We were wondering if you might be able to provide information as to where similar lamps could be found. Soraya thought you could help provide that info. She, incidentally, was most helpful. The permanent market, just as you suggested, was heaven-on-earth for me in the planning and preparation of our meals. We lived in Seattle, Washington, for a few years and that was the last time we had access to such a wonderful array of fresh ingredients. We traded with the merchants who were friendly and avoided the grouches! All in all, an experience to be long- remembered. Thanks for putting up with my many preguntas! Tom Cooper

We are just back from Spain, and wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed your apartment. It was just perfect for our needs, and in such a convenient location. I very much appreciated how safe the neighborhood was. Barcelona really is a fabulous city, and we had a very good time there. Of course we saw all the Gaudi stuff, including the glorious Park Guell which I had not seen before, but what I hadn't known about before was the Palau de Music and the Hospital de St. Pau, both of which were incredibly interesting. We had a fascinating tour of the Palau, so we were able to see the whole interior. I saw them both mentioned in your guest book. We also enjoyed Menjador for dinner, also listed on your map. I think we ate there three times, and liked what we had every time. Again, thank you for allowing us to be in your lovely apartment. It made our experience in Barcelona so much more comfortable and pleasant, and I would certainly recommend your place to anyone wanting a pretty, reasonable and convenient place to stay in the city.

Emily and I are at the airport right now...Headed back to Chicago. Thank you so much for letting us stay at your home last week. We had such a great time in Barcelona and your apartment was just perfect! My apologies for not being able to meet with Soraya as we were leaving...We were off to get our car rental at the Barcelona Sants station. We had one issue and that was how to turn off the washing machine...I hope that wasn´t a problem. Other than that...I loved Barcelona. Might try to figure out how I can swing a year here next Fall. Thank you again...I hope all is well with you! Hasta Luego...Courtney Karsted

Hello Annemarie, We have just left your apartment and arrived in Paris. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay in your place. We took good care of the plants, they were looking happier as we left than when we arrived. The terrace was amazing, we were able to watch the neighborhood celebrations from there as FC Barcelona won the championship against Manchester U. The art in the apartment was beautiful, and the neighborhood was perfect. Soraya was extremely nice and helpful as well. Thanks again for the authentic Barcelona experience! Karen

Hi Annemarie. Just arrived back in Hong Kong after a fantastic week in Barcelona (despite a very rough approach and landing because of some violent and very windy weather). Enjoyed your appartment. We watered all the plants and left everything neat and tidy. We walked most places, used the Metro, took your advice about places like Crusto's and so on. Many thanks for your help and assistance. Any time you are planning a trip to HK or to Australia, get in touch. Many thanks, Darryl and Tania.

Hi Annemarie, What a lovely visit we have had in Barcelona... you must love living in this vibrant city! We have loved your apartment .. oh the terrace is so lovely! I watered your plants well.. they add such an inviting touch. Thanks again for your generousity. p.s. the artwork is provocative and the opera singer on Sunday night (not sure where she lives.. maybe 2 blocks away) was like a 'live show' .. fantastic! Be well!
