Custom Home, fully furnished with antiques, collectables, & novelties. 2400 Sq Ft that gives one the relaxed feeling of joy and happiness of a laid back experience. Our home is very family orientated. It has a large front room with HDTV, DVD, VCR, & stereo. Large fireplace, player piano, Galaga Video Game, video & music library as well as a manikin dressed as a skier sitting on a chair lift hanging from the ceiling. Large kitchen/eating area combo (seats 10 + 4 bar stools), containing Jenn-Aire cook top, combination oven, convection oven, microwave oven, trash compactor, refrigerator, dishwasher, instant hot,. There is a formal front entry, & a utility room containing washer, dryer. The mud room has an outside entrance which is to be used in winter, plus boot & glove warmer, ski rack, Broadband Internet with Wi-Fi connection, & slot machine. House includes a deck with 2 tables & umbrellas, plus chairs.
Our home has multi-levels with high vaulted ceilings (21’) and an interior bridge which connects with upper level bedrooms #2 & #3. All bedrooms have private baths. Bedrooms #1 (lower level) & bedroom #2 each have an standard, antique wrought iron double bed; however, bedroom #2 has a sleeping loft with 2 twin beds. Bedroom #3 has 2 double beds and 1 single bed, bathroom features a divided bath/toilet, dressing area, & walk-in closet, above which is a loft area with many large antique pieces. This area is not for renters use. Carpets throughout except for front entry & kitchen/eating area, which are ceramic tile. Bathrooms, utility room & mud room are linoleum.
Basement has unfinished floors, bunk beds, wood stove, full bath.
Front lawn, horseshoe pit, No garage and no fences, but lots of open space surrounding the house.

We had a good experience renting this house for a group of 12. There are some curious design features. For instance, from the stairs, you can look into one of the bedrooms through a window-like opening. On the other hand, there are tons of beds and the kitchen works really well for a large group (and it is well-equipped). The living room is also very large and there are lots of games to keep you busy when you aren't skiing. We thought it was a great place to stay with family or others who you know well.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children.

Any family that would be gazing out the picture windows at the Red Cliffs, would also realize how easy access it would be to take their dog for a walk in the meadow below the cliffs, only to summers delight would be superseded by winters access to the nearby ski slopes. This is truly a delightful all season vacation location & home. We plan to return again soon. Izzy and FamilyRecommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

About the owner: Seniors, retired. Husband was a building contractor, designer, architectural draftsman, wife was a cashier in banking, retail stores & homemaker. We have raised 6 children, (1 girl, & 5 boys). We have 7 grandchildren, & 4 great grandchildren. We have been involved in all types of activities such as Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, PTA, Little League Baseball, Pop Warner Football, Booster Clubs, & Foreign Exchange activities, as well as church & choir member for 50 years. Locally, Kirkwood Planning Director for12 years, Kirkwood Public Utilities Board of Directors for14 years, Blind School instructor for 12 years, Ambassadors for 2 years, very community oriented people. We love skiing, hiking, fishing, back packing, & swimming . In the summer of 1981, our entire family started to build our Kirkwood home which was our dream home and a new family project. We completed it in the Fall of 1983.
Why the Owner Chose Kirkwood:
We started skiing Kirkwood, by chance, in the Christmas/New Year’s period of 1971. Heavenly Valley was our destination, but there was too much rock exposure. We decided to try Kirkwood which advertised 2 ft of new snow and 4 open chair lifts (a new ski resort). Although my parents home was at So Lake Tahoe, we decided to drive 30 miles each day for the next 4 days to enjoy the new ski runs @ Kirkwood and its fabulous snow.
Traveling to and from So Lake Tahoe, thru the Sierra’s mountain peaks, we were so impressed by the similarity to the Rocky Mountain terrain. Soon after, we spent more days skiing at Kirkwood and purchased a building lot in Jan 1971
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Kirkwood Ski Resort is a major part of scenic Highway 88 passing thru the Sierra Mountains with its ambient and environmental heavy wooded areas, along with its intermediate lakes such as, Silver Lake, Caples Lake, Red Lake, Bear River Lake Resort. Travelers are kept alert by the abruptness & dramatic changes of natures lava & granite rock formations which become quite dominant the higher the elevation gets. Grassy meadows, wild flowers, and Aspen trees add never ending contrast & color.
This area is a hikers/packers paradise, The opportunity for fishing and boating are available. Wild life such as deer, coyotes, squirrel, chipmunks & birds, are in abundance.
Weather varies in winter from extreme cold & high winds to wonderful snow conditions.
Summer has beautiful weather with mild to warm temperatures. There are brilliant reflections of sunsets on the Redcliffs. The night skies of the Kirkwood area are outstanding. The elevation of 8000’ allows for massive formations of stars and an extremely bright full moon. Wonderful for star gazers.
