Perfect rental for our family of 4 while spending a few days in Custer, SD! With 2 teens and 2 parents staying in small hotel rooms gets old fast so it was wonderful to have so much room during the South Dakota part of our 4 state roadtrip this summer. The location was within walking distance to the town of Custer but in a very quite neighborhood. Photo's and description were very accurate representations of the property and the house was very clean and maintained. Owner was very easy to deal with via email and provided local contact info if needed (we had no need to contact). We had a great time visiting the area. Went Rock Climbing in Custer State Park, did the Wildlife loop, visited Devil's Tower, Little Big Horn, Crazy Horse (would not recomend this one) and Bad Lands NP. Beautiful part of the country!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Couple with two teenagers spent a week in June 2012 in this house to visit the sights of the Black Hills and surrounds. Custer is centrally located to many wonders: the Black Hills, Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore, the Crazy Horse Memorial, Jewel Cave National Monument, Wind Cave National Monument, Badlands National Park, and Minuteman Missle National Historic Area. We also drove to Little Bighorn battlefield and Devil's Tower National Monument (a long day and long drive but both fascinating places). Custer is a slow quiet town where the sidewalks are rolled up by about 8:00 each night. Local restaurants and stores are operated by friendly South Dakotans, without a heavy tourist feel. Can't say enough about the Purple Pie Place. This is a nicely remodeled older home in a very quiet and well kept middle class to working class neighborhood within walking distance of a public swimming pool and the center of Custer. The owner's photos and description are accurate, and the house was immaculately maintained and clean. Note only one bathroom, but that was no big deal to us. Others may like to see a DVD player added to the satellite TV, and wireless internet too, but also no big deal to us (you can walk to the Bugleing Bull for internet). Great house. We had a fine stay and a very memorable trip to South Dakota.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, age 55+.
