History: The Hudson Valley is one of the most historic places in the USA. The Dutch liked it here so much, they moved in, sharing the territory with the native Algonquin Tribes. The area is famous for being the first wine producing region in the country (still going strong), while bountiful farms have been here for centuries. The scenery is so remarkable it inspired the first arts movement in the U.S, the Hudson River School. These 1800's artists/naturalists-on-canvas would not be surprised to learn that 20th century residents were crusaders in saving the Hudson Valley landscape at Storm King Mountain where the Mountain where the country's environmental movement was born. Ramble over forts from the Revolutionary War, and see where Washington lived for most of it. The area was so strategic for defense, America's first military academy, West Point, was established here in1802. 100 years later, Great Estates were built by the Vanderbilts, Roosevelts and Rockefellers.

Excursions: Enjoy day trips to amazing places like West Point Military Academy, Boscobel, Shawangunk Wine Trail, Mohonk Mountain Preserve, the village of Millbrook, the village of Woodstock, the village of Rhinebeck, Thomas Cole National Historic Site, Olana- home of the famed Hudson River Art movement, the Rockefeller and Vanderbilt estates, the Culinary Institute of America and many, many more...

Our Eagle’s View vacation was one of the most fabulous and relaxed ones we’ve had in years. The property is perched on a sprawling hill overlooking a panoramic view of the Hudson. Not only is the natural scenery of the place stunning but the accommodations inside the house are superb and the house itself exquisitely decorated. Our 8-year old twins enjoyed exploring the indoors as much as they did the outdoors. Close by amenities include Walkway Over the Hudson, Butter Milk Falls spa resort (just a ten minute walk from the house), and a host of great restaurants. We ate out several times. But mostly we shopped for food in a nearby supermarket and ate our meals in the upstairs floor of the house, contemplating through generous windows the boats sailing peacefully below, along the Hudson. After three days we felt renewed.

Owner response: Dear Andrea, Thank you for your review. I am glad the house exceeded your expectations and you and your family enjoyed your stay. Hope to see you soon! Best Regards, Kevin

My friends and I recently spent Presidents Day Weekend at Eagle's View and had a wonderful time! The house is beautifully decorated and very comfortable, even for our group of 8. And the VIEWS! Situated directly above the Hudson River, we had gorgeous views of the river with boats and trains passing below. It was perfect for us--we relaxed, ate large family meals together, and spent time exploring the area. Kevin, the owner, made the entire rental process very easy for us and was in touch before and after we arrived. We hope to be able to spend another weekend there and will definitely look into renting the house again when it gets warmer. Highly recommend it!

What can we say about this exquisite house that hasn’t already been said? Even after pouring over the pictures on the web site, our reaction when entering and exploring the house was, “Wow… WOW!” The first and second floors have windows the entire length of the house with breathtaking views of the river. Every corner has a new treasure to discover that fits perfectly with the age and ambiance of the house. My husband claimed the cozy corner on the second floor as his favorite. On nice days the deck drew us outside to enjoy the sunshine. The day we left we were greeted with a beautiful sunrise and mist rising from the Hudson. It was very hard to leave. The house is conveniently located between Newburg and Poughkeepsie. There is a great grocery store about a mile north on Hwy 9W. We enjoyed the Walkway Over the Hudson, a railroad bridge turned into a walking path located in Poughkeepsie. The Vanderbilt Mansion is also well worth a visit. One day we took the Metro North train from Beacon into the New York city which was easier for us than driving. Kevin, the owner, was very accommodating and attentive to our needs. We hope one day we can come again and create another memorable vacation in this home.

Owner response: Thank you Sharon. I am glad you had a relaxing and special vacation and that you appreciated all the treasures and special touches in the house. Look forward to seeing you again soon!

Eagle's View is a beautiful and majestic retreat in the Hudson, NY - less than 2 hours away. Each room is decorated with exquisite antiques that are comfortable and inviting. The house is wonderful! It remains a 19th century yet offers all the modern amenities one can need. My kids had a great time exploring each room and finding beautiful artifacts of 19th century Americana - and the views of the Hudson river are breathtaking from each room. The gardens are well maintained and has many romantic areas to sit and relax and daydream. This house is recommended for couples as well as families or any one who just wants to get away for the weekend!

Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We love Eagle's View and would love to return one day soon for two weeks instead of one. It's a beautiful home appointed with everything one could possibly need for a restful stay. It's beautifully situated, quiet, and charming! We flew from California to meet our college-student children there for a week at the end of the summer and it couldn't have been a more perfect location or beautiful home. We did lots of sightseeing and walking in the Hudson Valley each day. But sitting in the living room, gazing at the Hudson River was also a highlight. When we arrived we found delicious apples and an apple pie to greet us! Thank you for a perfect vacation destination.

What a treat! We attended a wedding at Buttermilk Inn and we're fortunate to find Eagle's View. The property was immaculate and perfectly prepared for our arrival. Kevin's detailed info was quite helpful for first time visitors to the area. In our 'off time' from the wedding we enjoyed great hiking at Minnewaska, a trip to nearby DIA, a delicious Turkish lunch in New Paltz, and a visit to the FDR site in Hyde Park. We hope to return to the area someday and wouldn't even think of staying anywhere else! Oh yes, while sitting on the back deck Sunday morning, not ten seconds after thinking that it would have been nice to have seen an eagle, a beautiful bald eagle, as if on cue, flew in from off the Hudson, circled above us a couple of times (close enough that the binoculars were unnecessary) and flew south. Stunningly beautiful! My wife went in to pack, and within a couple of minutes a pileated woodpecker lit on the nearby locust tree. Surreal! Kevin, thanks for helping to make a spectacular weekend!

My fiancé and I had the pleasure of spending the month of July with our friends in this spectacular home. Our month consisted of hikes during the day (Lake Minnewaska), a lunch or dinner at the Raccoon Saloon (in Marlboro), topped off with a peaceful lounging session in the living room or backyard while overlooking the gorgeous sunset. Everything about this beautiful home, and property, is inviting and tranquil, from the colors to the antiques to the layout (lounge chairs placed with a direct view of the Hudson in the living room). You instantly feel like you are in your own vacation home! Every detail throughout the home is executed with perfection. Kevin, thank you so much for making our July a memorable one! We enjoyed every second of it and hope to visit again soon!

Owner response: You were nice guests and kept the house in great condition. I am happy to hear what a memorable vacation you all had. Hope to see you in the near future.

My husband and I used this beautiful, quaint home with breathtaking views as a "home base" for my husband and some members of our bridal party for our wedding weekend. Everyone fit very comfortably within the home and there were so many adorable nooks throughout the home. Once you step into the home, you quickly realize how much more beautiful the actual home is compared to the photos (which of course were great to begin with as well). Everything was even better than detailed on the website. We'd absolutely stay in this home again if we were traveling with a larger party in this area again. Kevin (the owner of the property) was very great to work with. He always answered any of our questions very promptly and in detail. We actually left a few of our items in the home after we checked-out and Kevin was very gracious and saved us a lot of hassle in returning our items when we got back from our honeymoon. We absolutely recommend this home!

Owner response: Shannon and Levi were great guests. We are thrilled they loved the house and appreciated the renovation and the breathtaking views. We wish them well in their marriage.

Our stay was just wonderful!!!! The owner had mentioned when we were thinking of renting this house that as soon as we saw it we would fall in love with it, and must say we did fall in love with the house the minute we saw it. All the pictures and description of the house mentioned is very accurate. Couldn't have asked for anything more. Perfect location, well kept and decorated, and very very comfy and cozy. We were welcomed by a tasty Apple pie in the kitchen and we thought that was a very nice gesture from the owner. Also there was no Ironing board in the house and when i mentioned it to the owner, the next day there was an ironing board waiting outside the kitchen door! The kitchen was well equipped and had all the basics we needed to make a delicious meal. Linens, towels and bathroom amenities was provided as well. All we needed was our clothes and a toothbrush :) The town was nice and small and it was just perfect being so close to Buttermilk Falls Inn and Spa and lots of other interesting places. Buttermilk Falls Inn was literally 2 mins driving from the house. Cute towns nearby to explore such as New Paltz, Poughkeepsie, etc. The Storm King Art center was a short drive away as well. Our stay was extremely pleasant and this house was exactly what were were looking for to get away from the city. We will be surely renting it again in the near future.

Owner response: Thank you for the 5 Star Review. I am happy to hear how much you enjoyed your vacation at Eagle's View on the Hudson River! Hope to see you soon...Kevin

Because I love the Hudson Valley and its proximity to NYC and wanted a house directly on the Hudson River, as well as a historic house rich with details. Eagle's View is a relaxing and peaceful Shangri-La. The house is close to New Paltz and other beautiful country towns. Enjoy mountain ranges, hiking, wineries, great restaurants and historic sites minutes away.

The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Eagle's View is located in the heart of the Hudson Valley directly on the Hudson River. We are within walking distance to the Buttermilk Falls Inn & Spa where you can use their facilities. Their houses rent for $1,000 per night are not nearly as nice as Eagle's View, which is less than half the price! Mountains, hiking, biking, wineries, antiquing, historic sites
