Take your boots off, set a spell, and enjoy country life at its best. Enjoy coffee on the screen porch or sit by the pool and enjoy a glass of wine and the peaceful sound of the pool's waterfall.
The structure shown in the photos is actually a 4400 square foot, two-story duplex with two full, separate homes divided by a large utility room. The property owner occupies one of the homes, and the second is the rental unit described here. Though the homes are under the same roof, the Lone Star affords visitors complete privacy with a separate front entry, parking area, and screen porch overlooking the pool. While visiting the Rocking M Ranch, renters enjoy sole use of the pool, hot tub, and grounds. The Master suite downstairs features both a queen and double bed, and private bath with a Jacuzzi tub and walk-in shower. The upstairs bedroom has two twin beds and private bath with a shower. The living area provides additional sleeping with a queen sleeper sofa with a comfy, inflatable mattress. The room also has a double size futon. The home comfortably sleeps 8-10 people. The kitchen is fully stocked with basic essentials for cooking and serving, and all-stainless appliances. The living room has a wood-burning fireplace and leads out to a private screened porch overlooking the pool/hot tub. The utility has a separate entrance, W/D, sink, and half-bath.
Rocking M Ranch is located outside Smithville, with an easy 25- minute drive to the world of antiquing in Warrenton and Round Top. Austin is less than an hour away. There you'll have your choice of restaurants, and fantastic music venues such as South By Southwest (SXSW), and Austin City Limits (ACL), Longhorn football (go Horns!), and the new Circuit of the Americas racetrack. After an exciting day in the city, wind down at the Rocking M Ranch. Or better yet, just spend the day lying by the pool, or kayaking, canoeing, or fishing in the nearby Colorado River. Finish the day grilling a steak before unwinding in the hot tub or sitting by the campfire under star-lit skies.
While visiting Smithville, who knows who you will run into with major film stars frequenting our quaint, little town? Regardless, we're sure you'll be glad you visited our area and the Rocking M Ranch.

My husband, two teenage girls, dog and I spent our Spring Break vacation here. We had a great time! The hot tub and pool with new pergola were fantastic. We enjoyed the nearby animals and beautiful countryside on our daily walks. There is a convenient grocery store just a few miles away in Smithville, where we also enjoyed the local history of mainstreet. The home is absolutely gorgeous and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, as well as to entertain guests from nearby Austin on two occassions. We ventured out to the Austin Rodeo one evening, but mainly enjoyed unplugging at this secluded ranch. The owner was very welcoming and accommodating, yet gave us our complete privacy. I highly recommend this place!Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

My wife and I (and our dog) stayed at Cathy's duplex near Smithville for a week. It was great! It is big and has an open, spacious floor plan. It is nicely furnished and very quiet. Our dog did not want to leave!. The area around the house is fenced, so it was perfect for the dog while we went out during the day. Smithville is a neat town only five minutes away and Bastrop has great restaurant choices as well as good places to shop. We loved our week in Smithville.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, families with young children, sightseeing.

We needed a spot close to friends in LaGrange and family in Austin while we visited Central Texas. The ranch layout was a nice change for us "city folk" and the interior is welcoming in a real Texas style. Spacious and clean, too. We enjoyed the owner who was charming and has quite a Texas accent - she was so helpful. Both friends and family came to the ranch for a cookout by the pool and there was room for everyone. Very hot but the pool was cool. Look forward to another visit.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

From the moment we turned into the rustic entry driveway, we could feel the stress falling away. This place was amazing... so relaxing... from sitting in the sun next to the crystal clear pool, listening to the gentle waterfall from the hot tub, to walking the property hearing the crunch of leaves underfoot... we completely forgot about the rest of the world. The house is immaculate, and the beds super comfy. The owner went out of their way to make sure our every needs were met. We will definitely be back and will highly recommend this incredible spot to friends who want a place that will make you forget the hustle of city life... but still so close you can pop in to Austin for dinner or to check out a band.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
