Our beach house has a generous, welcoming feeling, with picture windows, a large living room (17'x 32') and kitchen (13'x 20'), very accommodating space for families and guests, puzzles & games (including ping pong) for kids of all ages, hardwood floors, and a quiet neighborhood where you will fall sleep to the sound of surf and wake up to morning doves.
The large porch, a favorite spot for meals, sunbathing, and relaxing, leads to a sizable, tree-lined, private yard with a hammock, jungle gym, and space for badmitton, croquet (equipment provided) & ball games.
A pleasant, half-mile walk down the lane leads to a spectacular, unspoiled beach, a one and a half mile gentle crescent that begs to be walked and picnicked on. Renters receive beach passes. Cleansed by Block Island Sound, its clear waters offer wonderful swimming from June through September. A smaller, nearby beach with soft sand and a large shallow area is ideal for children and surfers. Both beaches have lifeguards in season.
Downstairs bedroom has king-size bed; two upstairs bedrooms have queen beds, and two others twin beds. Many find that the "summer casual" style of the house -- with beams showing in some bedroom exterior walls -- makes it all the more relaxing.
Some renters return year after year, including a family who have rented for July and August for seven years, and others who have rented for several years running for Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends.
One renter sent this unsolicited comment: " We had an AMAZING weekend. Your house is lovely and spacious and casual, great for adults and little kids. Our 3-year olds LOVED all the games in the family room. The neighborhood is beautiful, and we walked to the beach several times a day -- so easy, even with two little kids in tow. And the backyard was a great hang-out alternative to the beach. The kids loved the swingset, and we barbequed every night."
The house is very well-equipped with four showers (one w/cold water outdoors), two bathtubs, ceiling fans, high chair, & pack and play for infants. A furnace takes the chill off in spring & fall; house is rented May through October.
A rainy day? No problem: curl up on our sofas in front of our large working fireplace to nap, chat & read; enjoy shopping and fine dining in nearby Watch Hill, movies, plays, dining & shopping in Westerly; discover Mystic’s fascinating Seaport and Aquarium 20 minutes away; or explore the historic, cultural, and culinary riches of Newport and Providence, 40 minutes away.
Weekapaug is a 150-year-old beach community on a stretch of Rhode Island shoreline famous for its series of beautiful beaches and large salt ponds populated by an abundance of shorebirds, fish, shellfish, and other wildlife. A ferry or plane ride to Block Island offers a wonderful day’s outing. Amtrak stops at the nearby Westerly and New London train stations, and many airlines service Providence's T.F.Green Airport.

This house has a great location, only a short drive to a wonderful beach. Spacious for friends and family. Perfect for kids too. Great yard and the Hammock was very relaxing. Being so close to mystic and the watch hill carousel. makes it a great place to stay and enjoy some of the most beautiful sites around. Clean, well kept and highly recommended.
Recommended for:Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children.

This was our second year renting this house with a group of friends (adults and young children) and we feel so lucky to have found it. The house itself is rustic-- but with quirky and cool mid-century furniture and lots of homey touches (old wooden toys and puzzles for kids, lots of New Yorker magazines, a ping-pong table in the laundry room, and a garage filled with bikes, beach chairs and odds and ends.) You can tell the owners have loved this house for many generations. There are two good-sized bedrooms and another three small ones. The common space is very open- a nice kitchen with barstools at a counter, and a long wooden table for family meals in the adjoining room. The outdoors is great, with a large deck and gas grill, and a magical yard surrounded by huge bushes and trees, which gives you complete privacy. There's even a swingset and hammock in the back for kids! And the surrounding neighborhood is beautiful- lovely beach homes on charming roads. The beach is an easy 10 minute walk, and seems relatively quiet compared to other nearby beaches. Really can't say enough good things-- a great rental for families with kids looking for a Rhode Island escape!
