Historic 1790's Luxury Farm House on 500 Pastoral Acres

Historic Rosny Farm is located on hundreds of acres in the heart of Virginia close to Farmville, Appomattox and the James River in rural Buckingham County. The house, originally constructed in the late 1700's, has undergone a careful renovation that made the kitchen state of the art including a Viking Range, updated both original wood burning fireplaces for guests to enjoy, refinished the original heart of pine floors and plaster walls and added two new bedrooms in the English Basement. The furniture and fixtures are all luxury, high-end -- some of which are antiques. Guests can enjoy miles and miles of exploring along trails through field and forest and creeks. Moreover, Rosny is a working organic farm that raises grass fed beef and pork as well as free range hens for eggs. Families will enjoy jumping into the daily farm activities or cooking up fresh farm raised beef to serve on the gracious west facing porch that spans the length of the house. Guests can horseback ride at nearby Sprouses Corner Ranch. However, if one wants to simply relax and get away in the country - this is the place to do it. Rock for hours on the porch or relax by the fire with a book. The bedrooms are one queen bed and one set of twin beds, each with their own bathroom. Longwood and Hampden-Sydney College are both nearby as is historic Buckingham Courthouse and Appomattox Courthouse.

Lovely weekend of relaxation. We did nothing but take walks, cook, sit by the fire, play board games, and enjoy the porch with a view. I particularly enjoyed taking quiet morning walks and seeing the animals and old farming equipment. Great place for a quiet weekend getaway. We'll certainly be returning!Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

Forgive my delay in writing this review, but I wanted to thank you for our enjoyable stay during the Christmas holidays. My parents live in Farmville, but their home isn't large enough to accommodate everyone, plus our dogs and their cats don't get along too well. We loved the cottage and the beautiful country setting. The cottage has been lovingly restored and very well maintained. My hubby and daughter's fiance enjoyed skeet and target shooting right in the front yard...they had a blast! Our Christmas day was perfect with a roaring fire in the fireplace and all the family members gathered together. Thank you for a very memorable Christmas.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, pet owners, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Farm House and setting are BEAUTIFUL!!! I stayed here for a long work week in Dillwyn. Sitting in the big chair with my feet propped on the ottoman...listening to cable bluegrass music..watching the breeze blow the trees through the door & windows was so peaceful...doesn't get much better than this. Grateful for such a special place to rest between work shifts! My retired husband who joined me for the time away - walked through the woods each day - enjoying being in the country. When I come back, I'm going to make sure I have time to do the same.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We enjoyed our stay at the cottage so much and look forward to returning. This lovely home has a beautiful kitchen, large, comfortable living room, and two nice bedrooms downstairs. The bathrooms are wonderful. The home is surrounded by pastures and woods. Great views from the front porce. All in, this is a terrific place to getaway and relax. It's about 20 minutes from Hampden-Sydney.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
