If you want peace and serenity, Carrie's Cottage is the place to go. We were there two weeks, loved the hiking trails, just relaxing by the pond, getting close to the dogs,cats and horses. Really, there wasn't much reason to leave this beautiful Farm.

My husband, two-year old, and I recently stayed at Carrie's Cottage for a long weekend. The layout of the cottage is all on one level, making it convenient for our toddler to run around and stay within our sight. She also loved the farm animals, as well as other wildlife in/around the pond and beyond. The cottage is at the back of the property, making it seem like its own secluded spot. The setting is beautiful, nestled in wine country hills. Breathtaking! The only challenge we had was that the cottage didn't have a tub. It only has a shower stall, which made it slightly challenging to bath (rather, shower...) our toddler at the end of the day. Still, I would highly recommend Carrie's Cottage! Thank you, Alton!

This cottage was an absolute joy to stay in! Everything was just perfect and accurately represented here. Our family of four was quite comfortable in this home and we enjoyed the gorgeous surroundings with the Blue Ridge mountains as a backdrop. It's a quick drive to Shenandoah National Park, where we enjoyed hiking trails, then came back to the cottage to relax. The kids really liked cooling off in the pool and watching the lightning bugs sparkle in the trees at night. The animals were an added bonus also. The owner was very nice and personable too! He even left a bottle of wine for us. We really didn't want to leave this beautiful farm! We highly recommend this cottage for couples and families.

We are less than a 15 minute drive from the Swift Run Gap entrance to the Shenandoah Nation Park, Skyline and Blue Ridge Parkway, and the Appalachian Trail. I often stay at VRBO rentals, and this rental is def at the top of my list! I'm returning this summer. The cottage was VERY CLEAN, so cozy (front porch for coffee was great!)- and the pool was a very nice treat! We had it all to ourselves, and it overlooked a fantastic landscape. I was there with my 3 yr old daughter and 12 year old niece- they played in the treehouse, fed the mini horses (big hit)-- walked the gravel roads, swam and swam and went hiking right on the property. Host was extra helpful. A very peaceful experience- breakfast on the porch watching the horses was a real treat.
