We had a group of 14 people and it was a perfect location, we were 2 min from town, and 5 min to the ski slopes. Very clean and had all the accommodations needed for a comfortable stay. We plan to return yearly. Oh and the hot tub overlooking winter park at night is a very beautiful site! I would highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a luxurious get away in winter park co.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We rented this property with two other families during the New Years Eve holiday...it is a very beautiful home and extremely spacious - plenty of room for our big group...it has wonderful mountain decor, fantastic kitchen and the homeowners were so awesome to work with...they were flexible with our schedule and very accommodating. It is in a great location too and the view is amazing! We highly recommend this rental!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Surprising lack of attention to quality, didn't live up to expectations, and worse.

Don't get me wrong, the view is incredible. The house is pretty neat, great big rooms, awesome deck. But the owners don't do the house justice. They didn't really seem to care at all that people pay them money to stay there. I had many issues, and I'll list them from bad to worse, because that's how they unfolded. We all arrived separately at late hours so we wanted to cook in. Started the oven and it began smoking like crazy. Turns out the cleaning crew left the chemical cleaning solution in. I said no problem, they have a grill, I'll throw the food on there. But the grill ran out of fuel a few minutes later. We called the owner who told me there was another tank in the garage. That was empty too. Finally I was able to find another tank attached to a different grill but the burner wouldn't light. After much shoving of deck furniture around I was able to get that tank attached to the other grill. Seems like a mountain paradise house would think about filling up all the propane tanks before their guests arrive. All that was tolerable, just a little disappointing based on my expectations. But then the guests started noticing layers of dust in the rooms and around the floors. That's the cleaning crew's fault - not the owners - but still, if it were my house I was renting out to the world I'd make sure the cleaning crew was doing their job. Still, I really don't care about dirt. I'm just as happy sleeping in a tent in the woods, this is just about expectations. The real problem came when I got home and had to go the doctor's to figure out why all my lymphnodes were swollen and massively painful. Turns out I had contracted "Hot tub Folliculitis" from the hot tub. It's not as awesome as it sounds. It's a bacterial infection from sitting in dirty hot tubs. I had to be prescribed Cipro (that's what they give you when you may have been exposed to Anthrax). The owners said it had been cleaned before we got there. By cleaned I imagine that means the water was drained - partially - and refilled. Was there any actual cleaning? Not sure but I've sat in a lot of hot tubs that didn't give me a horrible illness. To me, the cleaning crew is to blame but I hold the owners accountable for not caring about the presentation of this house enough to know what's going on there. I hope they change that crew out because this could be an amazing place to stay.Owner response: We are very sorry you were unhappy with your stay. Yours is the first negative review/comment we have had in 10 years of renting our home. We try to be to be gracious hosts and make every effort to keep both our home and hot tub in tip top shape for our renters. We are not out to impugn anyone's integrity, but we feel we must respond to your negative review. We agree that you were definitely inconvenienced the evening of your arrival. We did, and still do, apologize for that. Unfortunately, not all of the oven cleaner used the day before your arrival was removed properly which resulted in the oven smoking. We responded to your call and when efforts to heat the oven a bit higher did not work, we immediately scheduled the cleaning crew to go in and redo the oven the first thing the following morning. We are sorry that you did not inform us, or the cleaner when she was there, that you were unhappy with the cleanliness of the house. Any issues you may have had would have been rectified immediately. Due to the oven situation, you kindly offered to use one of the grills to finish the meal. We provide two grills for our guests. There is always at least one plus full propane tank with the two grills. When the propane ran out on the grill you were using I directed you to the tank in the second grill, not the one in the garage. I know it can be a real pain to grill on a deck in Winter Park during the winter season. We do keep one table by the grills in winter. It is sometimes turned on its side to prevent breakage which is probably why you did have to move it. Sorry! I would like to address the issues with the hot tub. Both we and our maintenance company (the premiere one in the valley) take your accusations very seriously. After I read your comments, I immediately requested the maintenance records for your stay. The records indicated that the hot tub had been serviced by the owner of the company on Feb 13 in preparation for your arrival on the 14th. The tub was totally emptied and cleaned. It was refilled with fresh water and all new chemicals added. A technician then returned to service the hot tub after your departure. He found the hot tub in a condition that he described as "gross" and "overused to the point that it is considered abused in the industry". We are having him forward his records to your email. Respectfully submitted, The Owners of Skytop
