This is a fantastic location. The beach is very private and when combined with the pool and garden it offers the ideal getaway. As advertised the Media room is great. We spent 5 weeks here and all of our guests were very impressed with the location and the serenity that it offered. The local Caretaker Mark, did a superb job of making us comfortable and responding to any requests that we had. Any other locals involved in assisting us were very friendly and supportive to our needs. That said, in a number of areas the house appears "tired" and some aspects of the house itself need attention if this is billed as an "Estate". I realize that this property is fully booked and there is little time for repairs. In a property of this size, I would suggest that one week per quarter, or half be set aside, as needed for maintenance and refurbishment, eg: sliding doors and screens, closet fixtures, mattresses ( and pads ), pool upkeep and there should be a minimum of two well maintained bicycles. On a very popsitive note , all of the carpeting was replaced in the bedrooms and media room during our stay. Some attention to the facilities would make this an incredible property, one that I would highly recommend.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

We had such a wonderful time here in Hawaii. The house was perfect for us! Our party consisted of 7 adults and 2 children under the age of 7 and we loved it here. The house was quiet, clean and close to the beach and yet 30 mins. from anything we wanted to see and do. An added bonus was the pool because our children are still uncomfortable with the ocean. We wanted a home away from home and we found it here. Muhalo, Mark for the guidance on restaurants, directions, and must see places.Owner response: I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay. We refreshed the home with new carpet and new refrigerator and other replacements before you arrived. We really try to exceed our guests expectations and it is good to see that our efforts are appreciated. We hope you return again! Mahalo, Peter

I was not impressed with this home being billed as an 'estate'. Certainly doesn't qualify by the condition or amenities. This is a large home that is 'worn' in many aspects and it shows. The home is a work horse, rented week after week and it appears that there is no time for repairs. Many of the screen doors had duct tape to keep the screens in their frames. Several window and door screens were not up in one of the bedrooms, just leaning up against the house. The downstairs sliding doors were very difficult to open and close. The BBQ was dirty, the upstairs oven was dirty, the overall kitchen was not clean. The fan blades in all rooms were extremely dirty and the bed spreads of one of the bedrooms was extremely soiled. We notified the onsite contact Mark of these concerns and his answer was to leave the cleaning person a note so upon their next visit they could do a better job of cleaning. We paid a cleaning deposit and felt that this house should be impeccable upon coming in as guests and it was not. The location of this home is what makes it attractive, its very close to town within walking distance or riding a bicycle.Owner response: Wow, your experience was not consistent with our other guests and Mark and I are taking your comments very seriously. We are replacing the carpet throughout this week. We are replacing the comfortor and sheets you damaged and fixing the screens and other items you pointed out. Mark and I will make sure we get back to our 5 star ratings with our next guest by refreshing the entire home and adding some new furnature which you rightfully pointed out is showing some wear. Not everyone understands the spirit of Aloha when they arrive in Hawaii, but you can see from our long list of 5 star reviews; just about everyone leaves our home knowing what Aloha is all about. We can tell by your review and from the condition you left our home in, that you did not take the Aloha with you as our other guests have. We are sorry because we really care about the experience our guests have while they are in our home and will continue to strive to make our home the finest destination on the North Shore.

I (we) loved this property and would highly recommend it to anyone who stays on the North Shore. We spent 11 days at this property prior to and after our daughter's wedding nearby at the Dillingham Ranch. The pictures of this amazing home are very accurate and the property description is precise. We had 8 occupants staying in the house and entertained up to 20 people for Christmas and New Year's and never once felt crowed. The house has a huge amount of cupboards and storage.L We used the two full kitchens and the gas BBQ to make light work for entertaining. The property allows for a very private, relaxing atmosphere with pool and ocean/beach at your patio door. The property is large enough to never feel like you are close to your neighbors. It has great parking for several cars on the property itself. We loved the location and were able to take surfing lessons and golf nearby. We enjoyed the town of Haleiwa with its many shrimp trucks , the Margaritas at Chollos were great, and the food at Haleiwa Joes was terrific. The little food market on the main street had great wine, beer and groceries really close by. We loved this house and would love to make this an annual event!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thank you for your review. THis home is a very private spacious property and I am glad you were able to entertain during the Holidays. We even have the Turkey Roaster for those home cooked Holiday dinners. We are particularly glad to hear that this may become an annual family destination for you as we love to have our guests return and make this their second home like it is for us. Looking forward to your return to paradise. Mahalo, Peter

This house is amazing! Weeks after our family vacation to Oahu and a 5-night stay in this house, I am still in awe of this beautiful residence. All you basically need to do to come here is pack your clothes and worry about nothing else. The house is equipped with everything you will need and everything was spotless. I particularly loved the gourmet kitchen upstairs. We had 8 adults and one 10-month-old grandson in tow and there was so much room to stretch out and relax in the house......it was awesome. Mark, our house greeter, was extremely helpful in directing us to Costco from the airport to pick up groceries. He met us at the house, gave us the keys and a house tour. He was only a phone call away for our many questions regarding where to find the best fresh fish for grilling, the best surf spots, tidepools, where to go on bike rides, etc. We were fortunate enough to be at North Shore during the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing Competition and only a short drive from the house to watch it. We had a fabulous.....magical vacation and could not have been more pleased with the accomodations. But, my most enjoyable part of the vacation, besides spending some quality time with my family, was the sound of the ocean waves in the master bedroom at night. Heavenly! We were literally steps from the sand and ocean. Thank you Peter and Mark for your wonderful hospitality. We will never forget it.Owner response: Mahalo for your review. We are glad to hear about your experience and it is always good to know you had everything you needed. The fresh ocean breeze and the sound of the waves is the formula for really relaxing in this very special spot. The other sound I enjoy are the tropical birds first thing in the morning as the sun rises. Come back again next year.

This is a mini resort in a lush tropical private setting. It was absolutely perfect for our large family to gather on the pool deck during the day & there was lots of comfortable seating areas to hang out in the evening. Best feature was the roll away walls opening the lower level to the outdoors. Two large fully equipped kitchens provided lots of flexibility for dining. We used the brand new gas grill almost every day. We picked up groceries at Costco & Foodland, about 20 minutes from the house. Our family rented scooters, jet skiis, paddle boards & boogie boards during the week. The town of Haleiwa is a 5 minute drive away. We dined at a terrific Thai food place that allowed us to BYOB. The house was thoroughly clean & included hotel amenities. Our family included a baby so the pool was perfect for him. There were pool float toys, an activity walker, a pack n play pen & sand toys. The layout of the house allowed a quiet floor for baby sleep times & a large lower level for the the rest of the loud & boisterous family members. We took over 1200 photos & they bring back happy memories every time I see them. Like other reviewers said, the photos on this site can't capture what a paradise this property is. A trip of a life time for our family from Atlanta, Toronto & Vancouver.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.
Owner response: Mahalo for your review. I am glad to hear that you noticed the "resort" amenities. We have made a real effort to incorporate the amenities our guests might experience in a 5 star resort. There is nothing better than having the entire resort to yourself and that is what we are striving for.

Oh, what a beautiful place, we enjoyed our stay at this property so very much. The house was very comfortable, spacious, clean and private. We had a total of 10 people in our party, 4 families all together and we always had plenty of room. The house is well situated for a large group and it was amazing to spend time together in such a beautiful location. We celebrated Thanksgiving and cooked our meal together, with two complete kitchens we had plenty of room to cook and all the pots, pans and utinsels we needed. The landscaping is beautiful with so many tropical plants. We felt as though we had our own little paradise. The sounds of the birds singing and the ocean waves were as though nature was singing to us. It was heavenly listening to the waves crashing onto the shore at night. We spent most mornings on the upper deck looking out at the ocean, enjoying our coffee and spending family time. Our grandsons enjoyed the pool and playing on the beach. We also enjoyed watching "Frosty the Snowman" and Aggie football on the big screen. We went out to eat at The Breakers (their pizza is wonderful) and Haleiwa Joe's, both were very good. The younger couples went on a Catamaran sunset cruise, they truly enjoyed it. The captain and his daughter were super friendly, as are most of the people in this area. We also had family pictures taken at the property, they turned out beautiful. Billy Lee, out of Honolulu was the photographer. I will forever treasure our time we spent at this this house and hopefully we will return some day. It is a beautiful property and I definitely recommend it to anyone. As we were leaving for the airport on Saturday, my 6 yrear old grandson shouts out, "Bye house, I love you". We all felt the same. Mark is great, and when he says, "Call if you need anything.", he means it. Thanksgiving Eve around 8:30 p.m. we realized we did not have a hand mixer, I called Mark and within minutes we had a new mixer. Thanks Mark.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We stayed in this home from October 7-15 2012. What can I say, it was wonderful. We had 8 adults and one teen in the home and there was still so much room. There was never a point where we felt crowded or tripping over each other. The pool was fabulous and the house over all, incredible. This home truly is beach front, I think some of the pictures make the beach seem a bit of a walk to get to but it is not, it is truly in your back yard. And yes, we did see the turtles. My husband and I got married on Sunset beach and had our reception at this home and we could not have asked for a better place. It was perfect. We had never rented a home on VRBO before and it was a little different process but Peter was very good to call me back and answer any questions that I had. I felt comfortable in my dealings with him for the rental. Mark met us when we came to the house, he was great. He made sure we were comfortable and knew where everything was. He stopped in a couple of times during our stay to make sure everything was good and if we called him, he always got back to us and addressed any concerns or questions. He has a ton of island knowledge and is a terrific source of information if you are thinking about surfing or doing a little deep sea fishing. He assisted my Brother and Father in booking a fishing trip so five of our group went out and they had a fantastic time. The North Shore was a wonderful place to visit in Oahu and staying in this home for this vacation made it all the better. If we choose to go back to Oahu we would not hesitate to rent this home again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: So glad you enjoyed your stay. Since you left we have upgraded the kitchen supplies, refreshed all the linens and are getting ready to replace the carpeting throughout. We also added two new bikes and another stand up paddle board to the equipment rental options. So when you return you can find a few new improvements waiting for you. Mahalo and come back soon.

We had an amazing two week stay on the North Shore and couldn't be happier with choosing this property. The pictures and other reviews adequately describe the house but what isn't captured in the pictures is how beautifully landscaped and private feeling the property is. There are so many options for where to relax in and around the house and the pool was perfect for the kids. It was great that it comes stocked with lots of pool and beach toys. As others have described, Mark is very welcoming and a wonderful Island host. He made the stay that much more perfect. We took advantage of the kayak and paddle board and it was so convenient not to have to deal with off site rentals. The beach was very nice and even on the couple of days we had bigger surf, the reef really keeps it protected. The kayaking and paddle boarding was a great too, it's an amazing way to get out and see the reef and turtles. Walking along the beach from the house will get you to some of the most beautiful shoreline too. Wailua is a cute little town, as others have mentioned The Old Sugar Mill has the best shaved ice. Dad made it there for shaved ice nearly everyday. The farmer's market on Saturday mornings was really worth making it out for too. Haliewa is also so close and offers a lot of great food options, Gallery Coffee and Opal Thai were stand outs for us. You won't go wrong if you choose this home for your next vacation.Owner response: Two weeks is really the best therapy in this wonderful place. We just spent a week there after your trip and continue to find this spot just what we needed. The stand up paddle boards and the kayaks are great and so we added bikes and another paddle board. We also upgraded the bedding and added every kitchen accessory we could think of to make sure our guests have everything right here. New carpet is on order and we refurbished the outside shower. Soon the pool tile will be all new and so we keep trying to make this a "Six Star" destination. Come back soon! Mahalo, Peter

We spent 8 nights at this wonderful property. Our group was 4 families with children. We have taken now a couple of trips to the North Shore and this place has been our favorite by far. The pictures only do a small justice as the home is even more amazing than even the photos. The pool was a huge hit with the kids and even the parents. But more impressive was having the Lanai, Downstairs Kitchen, and open area right there by the pool area. Needless to say we spent a bunch of time there. We spent a lot of time cooking out and enjoying the large kitchen. There was plenty of room for the 4 families and we didn't feel like we were crowded at all. Another huge hit was the large media room. The kids enjoyed kicking back at the end of a busy day at the beach and watching a movie. It was like they were in their own theatre. The yard was big enough for the kids to play catch with the football and run around. Also being able to walk right out onto the beach was enjoyable and the nice thing about this propberty was there was enough privacy that no one could look into the property from out on the beach. Mark was the island host and I can't say enough great things about Mark. The day we arrived he invited us down to a cook out at his place and really made us feel welcome. (He cooks a Great Kahula Pig !) and even shared his local catch. He was always very helpful, made sure we had what we needed and even gave us some tips on what to do. He was great for us to enjoy our trip. The home is located close to everything on the North Shore. All of the pipeline beaches are only a short drive, as is any type of surf shop, great restaraunts, groceries, and even some night life. Overall, great place, fun time, and somewhere that we intend to return.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Mahalo for letting us know about your stay in our home. It makes us happy to hear how families like yours enjoyed this very special place. The media room equipment is all new and it is good to hear that it is like having your own personal movie theater which is what we were aiming for when we replaced all the equipment last month. You also noticed that we have used the tropical landscaping to provide complete privacy while still having full coastline views. You can't find this combination of privacy and access to everything Hawaii has to offer at any resort and we hope you and your family return soon.
