The only thing that would have made our stay better was more time, a long weekend just wasn't long enough. The house was so inviting and comfortable and that view, oh that view. We're ready to go back and we've only been home for three days.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

We were THRILLED by this home. The view is unbelievable, and the house has tons of quirky and interesting personal touches. It's a great place to stay with multiple families, because the downstairs area has multiple beds and you have a lot of privacy from the rest of the house. The owner is kind and responsive and clearly puts of lot of time into keeping the house in great condition. Sitting in that hot tub (which is nicely sheltered from the wind by trees) and watching the waves crash is pretty much perfection.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a mini family reunion at Pelican Point in Mendocino. The home was absolutely beautiful with an outstanding view. The owner is very friendly and unobtrusive, at the same time. We could bring our dog, and there was absolutely no problem. The hot tub was wonderful, the game room was a lot of fun, and the kitchen was fully stocked. The decor/art work was fantastic. We highly recommend Pelican Point.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My family had a wonderful time, spending 3 nights at Pelican Point. The listing description was very accurate regarding the exact location. While there were numerous photos, and these photos helped us make the decision to stay there, the view itself was even more spectacular that the photos indicate! The owner did just put in some new windows and so we had views of the majestic coast from many rooms. The property was clean and well maintained and the owner was very helpful in answering our many questions. Once there, we had no concerns, but in planning our stay, we had several questions, and the owner was very responsive. We would definitely recommend this property to friends and relatives, and hope to return ourselves.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My family stayed at Pelican Point for four days in mid-March and could not have had a better time. This house was awesome. We had a party of seven, ranging from 15 to 85 yrs old and everyone loved it. The house was extremely comfortable with plenty of sleeping and lounging areas for all. The downstairs also contains a game room with a beautiful pool table, wet bar, and a working slot machine, Black Bart. The teenager was up about $5 before she jammed him with a Canadian coin. But the jewel of this property is the view. We have stayed in many houses in the area, from Albion to Casper and this is by far the best view we have ever had. The deck is just above the cliff area with unobstructed views straight down to the the Headlands in the village. We spent as much time as we could on the deck, from morning coffee to sunset. We had a friend join us for an afternoon and the deck was equipped with outside furniture for 8+. We eat, drank, and were merry without tripping over each other. The owner, Don, only added to our pleasant experience. The reservation process and check in/check out were painless. He was easily reachable by cell phone for those quick questions when we first arrived. I cannot wait to return to Pelican Point and have recommended it highly to my friends.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

What a great spot! We got to spend a week at this little slice of paradise, watching whales, playing games, or just closing your eyes on the deck listening to the waves crash against the shore. The house had everything you could possibly need for a great time with family & friends.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The house and surrounding area are beautiful. The house is fully stocked and supplied with everything we needed. There were 7 of us and we all had plenty of room. There are 2 bedrooms upstairs & a bathroom, one bedroom & bathroom on the main floor and one bedroom & bathroom downstairs. The downstairs could be completely separate, has a full working kitchen area and bathroom. The living room & deck area are very comfortable. When we arrived the owner called to welcome us and let us know if there was anything we needed he was just a call away. The pictures of the site are nice, but its much more beautiful in person. Would definintely recommend this over a hotel if you have a group getting together. Thank you for allowing others to enjoy your home as well.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, sightseeing.

This home has breathtaking views! Our family of 7 stayed over the Christmas holidays and we loved every moment. Two of our 4 days were stormy with violent ocean waves crashing into the shore – it was truly an awesome sight. When the skies cleared we did a 9 mile out and back trail run from the house to Fern Falls in Russian Gulch, then into the hot tub. We roasted marshmallows on the wood stove and made yummy smores – we left our smore making tools for future chocolate/marshmallow lovers! The kitchen was grand enough to cook lots of Christmas goodies and a fabulous feast for Christmas day. Every room of the home was incredibly clean, cozy, fully stocked, and had amazing views of the ocean. We spent four glorious days enjoying the peacefulness and oceanic sights and sounds. My favorite spot was sitting on the deck in one of the many rocking chairs made from wine barrels. This home is so lovely - we can’t wait to return!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The pictures do not do this place justice. I rented the house for my family during the week of my wedding and it was perfect. The house is spacious, well maintained and has exceptional views. The hot tub, pool table, grill and gigantic deck are just the icing on the cake. The owner was outstanding and even left me a gift for my wedding. Five stars, you will not be disappointed! My family and I will be back for sure.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We loved the house. We were a group of 8 and there were four private bedrooms which was perfect. If there are more guests, they could sleep on the hide-a-beds. The view from the deck was excellent. It's an older home and we actually liked the fact that it wasn't all made over. We didn't feel like we had to baby new cabinets or granite counters. The dining table was fun - large square table with eight tall chairs (two on each side) so it was a spacious area to gather for meals and games. The deck is roomy with a nice gas BBQ. Loved the newly installed fire pit. Don and Jean, the owners are really nice to work with.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I can't say enough good things about our recent stay at Pelican Point! Large comfortable home with everything you need in an excellent location! The ocean views just don't get any better, and the owner Don was more than accommodating. The home is well furnished with comfortable "livable" furnishings, the beds were exceptionally comfortable. Pelican Point is a wonderful vacation home. The view was spectacular from the deck and I mean spectacular and the wildlife made it so fun for the grandkids. We had five deer visit regularly, Sam the seagull visited too and a red fox that was literally on the deck and ready to be photographed. The ammenities were great with everything that we could possibly need. The owner was so accommodating and available for any questions or concerns. The beach, lighthouse, Skunk Train and Mendocino just minutes away. The whole experience made for some incredible memories of our family vacation. We were 6 adults and 2 children and we had room to spare. A bit of a challenge to keep the toddlers in tow with all the beautiful furnishings about the house. Hot tub was a plus. Definitely would go back and hated to leave.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: I appreciate all the comments made about our place. And I have to agree with them! At this point it's been one year since we acquired the property and everytime I go there I am fascinated with the view. It's truly spectacular. I've tried to make it fun and whimsical with the fish sculptures, antique slot machines, unique decor and special touches making your experience one that you will remember! It's one wonderful place to relax, enjoy company and let the world go by. Sitting on the deck you hear no road noise, see no cars and stare down the coastline with unobstructed views all the way to Mendocino (OK, it's less than 2 miles away!) and hear nothing but the ocean and birds. What fun it is to watch the whales migrate right outside. Winter is my favorite time as I watch the waves crash down the coast either bundled up with a blanket on the deck, or from the warmth inside. Within literally minutes you can be hiking to waterfalls, strolling down the beach or walking around the shops in Mendocino. I want to share this place. Its fun to talk to guests when the arrive and see the view live for the first time. You will not be disappointed. I guarantee that! Don

Our wondeful experience at Pelican Point began before we even got there. Don was SO helpful in many ways, it felt more like we were going to a relative's home than a rental. As soon as we walked in my adult children were congratulaing me for picking such a great place. The view is spectacular ( my daughter-in law observed "You would pay big bucks at a restaurant to have a view like this") . One son chose not to go out with us one day because he "couldn't imagine a better place to spend a day" than at "The Point." We had great fun cooking & grilling & eating together every evening, followed by games at the dining room table with the "Fish Lights" glowing. The pool table downstairs was also a great place for entertainment, as were the powerful telescope & binoculars ( deer, birds, surf). For those looking for seals & sea lions, hike over to the nearby Pt. Cabrillo Lighthouse. One cool night, we had the wood stove going for another dramatic touch. There were so many nice details, one can tell the owner loves this place too. I agree with all the earlier favorable comments. Our only regret was having to leave this charming place. 6 stars!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Every year me and 7 other friends go to the Mendocino Whale Festival. this house is on the top of our list of favorite places to stay! The deck was the highlight. We spent hours here talking, drinking wine, enjoying the view and watching the Whales! The big dining table was the perfect size for our meals together. the main living area is such a perfect layout. The owners are super nice and accommodating, we had no issues and they were really nice.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

You can't beat the views from the deck of this beautiful house, or inside the house. The art work is spectaular. We played lots of pool, sunned on the deck, and chilled in the hot tub. The fully stocked kitchen is pure joy to cook in and the beds are very comfortable. The living room has very comfortable furniture and the dining room has a table that sits 8. We got to see a few deer and some wild turkeys from the deck. The house is less than 5 minutes away from Mendocino and about 10 minutes away from Fort Bragg. (well, at least the way we drive). There is a little cove a short drive north on Cabrillo Point drive that you can rent Kayaks as well as a restaurant and a little store if you need ice. Our first night we went to Fort Bragg and ate at The Cliff House, which was a perfect catalyst to set off a relaxed weekend. We highly recommend staying at Pelican Point. It's perfectly suited for a group of 8 to 10, or just for romatic getaway. We will definetly be coming back. This is a much better solution to booking hotel rooms and eating out, when the whole idea is to spend time with friends. Sit back and enjoy. Cheers!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I enjoyed a 3-day weekend with 6 of our friends at this beautiful property. The views are breathtaking, the home comfortable, cozy and filled with some wonderful art. The kitchen is fully stocked and is large enough to allow everybody to participate in creating memorable meals. It's very private yet just a few minutes north of Mendocino and, maybe, 10 minutes south of Fort Bragg. The view from the jacuzzi makes the experience even more relaxing. And we played pool for hours. The best part, again, is the view. I would recommend this home to anybody and everybody who wants to truly experience the Northern California coast at its best!Recommended for: Girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and friends have stayed at this house 3 times now and will continue to return to this magnificent spot. The views are simply breathtaking! Besides having a expansive deck for watching whales, sunsets, wildlife, and whatever the world brings into view...this house has everything from wireless to pizza stones. The kitchen is most amazing since the ocean plays before you as you cook like a highdef TV. Beds are comfy, house is clean, and Mendocino is only a hop-skip-and-jump away. Life is good as it gets here!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My family spent Thanksgiving week and we couldn't have asked for a more incredible location or home to enjoy the holiday in. Every room was outfitted for comfort and felt like we'd been there for years. The pool table in the game room provided hours of fun and the hot tub was used daily. The kitchen is fully stocked with cooking items and we easily prepared Thanksgiving dinner for 9 without any worries. The owner has spared no expense to provide an incredible house at an incredible price. Rented this house for a group kayaking and abalone diving trip in the fall. Simply put, the place was beautiful and met our group's needs perfectly. The ocean view from the balcony and hot tub was stunning. It felt like we were in the middle of nowhere even though we were only a couple of miles from Mendocino Township. Great kitchen for dinners and overall setup for groups. A lot of places on the north coast are actually many miles down the coast from any real facilities, or in areas where public access to the coast. This house was in an ideal location, close to the best hiking, diving, kayaking in the area, plus all the great eating, drinking and shopping in Mendocino Township. Highly recommended... we'll be coming back for sure.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
