Dear Peg, THANK YOU for allowing us to rent your wonderful cabin for New Year's Eve!!! It was the perfect thing to do for the occasion and an ideal place for our family. We hope to return in the warmer months -- it looks like it would be extremely beautiful there in spring and summer. Thanks, too, for sending the list of things to do -- we went for a great hike in the D.A.R. Forest, which we probably wouldn't have thought of if not for your message. With sincere thanks and best wishes for the New Year, A.L., Groton CT

Our group had such a great time at Apple Valley Log Cabin in September. There were originally 7 adults in our group, with a late last minute addition. Peg was very accommodating in allowing the additional guest and amending the contract. Thanks Peg! The house was PERFECT for our group, quiet, peaceful, and close to rafting! We had such a great time and plenty of room to stretch out. The living room, dining room, and kitchen were large enough to comfortably seat our entire group. I was worried about only one bathroom, but it worked out fine. Everything was in great working order, and very clean! I highly recommend Apple Valley Log cabin if you're looking for a peaceful, private get away! Thanks again!

Hi Peg! I just wanted to send you a quick note thanking you for another AMAZING time at the cabin! Our friends absolutely loved the place and we couldn't stop talking about when our schedules could match up again so we can come back. We were also really impressed with how well maintained the house is. We haven't been there since 2008 and yet it felt like it had been just yesterday that we were there. We can tell that the house is very well cared for and it is just such a wonderful place to be able to vacation. I also wanted to thank you for allowing us to have a late check out. I know we weren't able to stay the extra night but having us check out late was very thoughtful and much appreciated! The weekend was great and I even loved the hike we went on (which is a big deal since I would generally enjoy reading with a glass of wine more than hiking through snow!). Please keep us posted of any specials you may have through the spring and summer, as we look forward to being able to get back there soon! Also, on a side note, if ever in the future you plan on selling Apple Valley PLEASE consider letting us know as we have discussed being very interested in a property like that to be able to escape to on weekends and summers and to bring future children to! And we're a little biased that Apple Valley is just the best! Thanks so much & best regards!

My wife and I stayed at Apple Valley for two nights on October 4/5, 2010. The cabin is in a beautiful location and was very private. We cooked our own dinners (lobster from Maine) both nights and all essential utensils were readily available in the well-stocked kitchen. We really enjoyed walking about the property and neighborhood and we were only 1 hour from the Norman Rockwell museum. Thank you Peg and Jackie for taking care of everything! Our stay was wonderful and we recommend Apple Valley cabin to anyone who will appreciate it's setting. Just save a date for us as we plan on returning!

Our family just got back from Apply Valley Log Cabin couple weeks ago and Absolutely LOVED IT! The cabin itself was very clean and was equipped with everything we needed. Was a very peaceful fun experience and would do it again with our family. We went up there with 6 people, and there was plenty of space. We picked blueberries every morning and made pancakes, and walked 10 minutes down the road for some fresh eggs from a local chicken farm. We spent most of our time hiking and doing activities at Zoar adventure sports, but also visited local shops and restaurants. Our little sister is going off to college this fall, and this was a great vacation to just relax and get away from it all and reconnect as a family. (No cell coverage=) Loved it! I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to get away and just re-energize from our daily life. No doubt I'll be visiting the cabin again real soon.

Peaceful, quiet, cozy place, with a well equipped kitchen. Nicely off the beaten path, and very close to Zoar. We had a great time. The owners clearly put a lot of thought into making this a comfortable retreat. Very well maintained. We enjoyed hiking on local land preserves and bike riding in the area, then dinner on the deck. Hope to be back for some cross country skiing in the winter. If you go during the season, don't pass up the Ashfield Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings. Great people and produce.
Owner response:Wooo-hoooooo, thank you so much Don for the review. We are aiming for a quality experience at the cabin for our guests and it is always gratifying to feel that we have hit the mark! Thanks again & pls come back next year.

Apple Valley Log Cabin was the perfect setup for our family. We did not spend a lot of time at the cabin, but the patio and yard were the best part. Great place for morning coffee and afternoon drinks. Very relaxing. Spent one evening watching the fireflies dance around. Fun time had by all. Thanks

We had a lovely and relaxing time at your cabin. Your home was very comfortable and we had wonderful weather, so we spent plenty of time out on the deck. Our dog Baxter loved running around the property. Great place to go to get away from it all & do some star gazing. My only complaint was that the week went by way to fast. Thanks for your hospitality! The Wagners

Although very remote, we receicved excellent directions and had no trouble finding the cabin. Very clean, well appoinrted and maintained. Ther weather was *awful* during our stay, so we weren't able to explore the surrounding area. However, we enjoyed an extremely relaxing time in the cozy cabin. Can't wait to return!

This is our 3rd visit to the cabin and our first winter visit. It is every bit as beautiful there in winter as spring and summer! We arrived during snow squalls to a warm fire. It was 7-10 degrees the whole time we were there and we were always snug and warm.We visited during "the full wolf moon" and that was amazing reflecting off the snow. Plenty to do in the area...loved our visit. Rebecca and John (and Sadie the yellow lab)
Owner response:I absolutely agree Savoy, it really is a great vacation any season of the year! We have many people who regularly come back to visit for their favorite season of the year. We never realized what a special place this was when we moved here, but by some great luck of chance, we really, really were blessed with a wonderful eco-experience. It is so wonderful for us to have the priviledge of sharing our good fortune with all our guests and hope to continue for many years to come!

Peg - During Labor Day weekend, I along with 7 of my girlfriends and Siren, our dog, decided to take a drive up to your log cabin, where we stayed for three days. It was absolutely amazing! We hiked, picked berries and apples, conversed for hours on end, grilled on the patio, drove to nearby NoHo, and, generally, just enjoyed the tranquility of the space. Thank you for opening up your cabin to us. It was an absolutely amazing time! So much so, that we've decided to make it an annual retreat. Until next year, Nicole
Owner response:Cheers Nicole, we will see you next year and be welcoming you, et al in your "entourage" with open arms! You have been great guests ..........

Apple Valley Log Cabin exceeded our expections! The cabin was spacious and clean, and the layout offers the opportunity for some private time. The cabin is set off the road, and is secluded, yet we were able to get into town after a short drive. The property is beautiful, with flowers and fruit trees adorning the yard. A welcome respite from city life. And our dog loved it as well!

Hi Peg! It is absolutely embarrassing how long it as taken me to write and say THANK YOU!!! We stayed at Apple Valley the weekend of 4th of July and had THE MOST fabulous time! It was absolutely breathtaking and so peaceful to wake up every morning to the sound of birds and to let our pup Riley out to run without worrying about traffic, cars or his leash! But the BEST thing was the ability to NOT have to EVER look at a clock, because it didn't even matter what time it was because we had nothing planned and no where to be!!! What a tremendous way to spend a weekend! So, thank you so very much for sharing this incredible property with us. It was unbelievable being in a real log cabin that had all the amenities and warmth of our own home - the property is obviously loved and well taken care of and I feel nothing but lucky to have stumbled upon it online. I can honestly say that before we even left we were thinking about our schedules and when we'd be able to return again! I know I would certainly love to see it in each of the seasons - and bringing friends would be great! Hope things are great! Thanks again for sharing this incredible space with us - we can't wait to go back! And I did get the security deposit back, so thank you for being so prompt with it! Sincerely, J.B., M.F. and Riley dog

They should change that. I think it would be helpful for people to know you have return visitors and we had even a more wonderful time than the first visit...thinking we need to buy property there! Wonderful vacation. Much needed rest, the dogs loved it and so did we. Lots of hiking/skiing trails and the amenities & cleanliness of the cabin were more than what we have seen in other vacation rentals. The binder left at the cabin contained much information about area attractions and events with actual driving directions to several major attractions. We were wonderfully surprised and we will definitley be back year after year!

Great outdoors activities very close, from right on the property to right down the street. And there are some great restaurants in the area if you don't mind a drive through beautiful country.

The scenery and the cabin itself were both wonderful and we both took advantage of the opportunity to get some much-needed relaxation in such beautiful surroundings. Neither of us had anything negative to say about any aspect of our stay. We would recommend it to anyone and will certainly be back again.

What a wonderful long weekend we had at your Apple Valley Log Cabin! The location was perfect as was the weather. Our dogs throughly enjoyed their mini vacation. We hiked every day. We saw bear, deer, moose and coyote tracks not far from the cabin. The cabin was delightful; very, very cozy. We enjoyed having a fire in the woodstove in the evenings to ward off the chill. Thank you for sharing your lovely oasis with us and for allowing our 3 dogs to accompany us. They all say thank you very much too!! Hope to visit again, regards Larry and Andrea Holland

Peg, We want to thank you for a fantastic 5-day getaway to your cabin. We had a wonderful time, full of relaxation and rebonding without the daily hassles of traffic, sirens, due dates, and all the other causes of daily stress. After the initial arrival confusion, we settled in and the rest of our stay was completely stress free. We took full advantage of the excellent cabin and its' surroundings, the Jacuzzi tub, the beauty of the countryside, and the rare chance to experience life without so many responsibilities. It was a pleasure to tour the surrounding towns and find so many helpful and friendly people. We only wish we had booked it for twice as long. We will certainly return again. Thank you again for a wonderful time at your well-appointed cabin. I hope we can talk again very soon. - Don & Judi

My son and I picked up his twin brother (from San Francisco) at the Hartford airport and drove on mostly in the dark to Apple Valley Log Cabin. Man, I mean dark! It was cold! We were so delighted upon arrival to find a very welcoming fire already going in the wood stove. Thanks to Mike who lives down the road. We already know this was to be a great pre Christmas interlude. And so it was! Snowshoeing and hiking, a visit to the Butterfly Observator and the famous candy store and reading by the fire. We could only imagine all the opportunities and adventures that summer brings.

The Apple Valley Log Cabin was such a relaxing treat. It was close to action in Northhamptom and Tanglewood, but also so quiet and remote, with fantastic skies and gardens and trails for hiking. This is 20 miles from Northampton, but in a private and wooded area. We were delighted with the garden off the back deck and enjoyed our coffee each morning on the deck. The wood stove was too complicated for us, but we were quite content with the baseboard heat. One of our questions had been if it would be too warm, but even in August it was not! There were two spacious bedrooms, a jet-powered tub, and plenty of room to snuggle and watch TV. The kitchen set-up is adequate. What you'll love best are the surroundings. Hummingbirds visited daily, the flowers were in bloom, and who could resist a climb to the top of a high rock face for a picnic lunch? Paths are mown into the tall grasses to guide you on walks, and oh-so-charming instructions include "turn left at the wind chimes." There is an apple orchard, although we never made it that far in our exploration of the property. The beds are comfortable. The TV is great for evening watching. During the day you won't want to be inside. I cannot say enough about how wonderful the back deck is, and the enclosed front porch is a great place to curl up with an evening snack when the bugs get more demanding. It was very relaxing. We made a stop in Northampton on our way back for lunch and enjoyed a stroll on Main Street. As an added bonus, we saw a black bear cub cross the road on our drive back to town! I'll be back!

We had a wonderful time at Apple Valley Log Cabin. The kids spent hours on thier mountain bikes exploring the hiking trails while we relaxed and enjoyed the views from the deck. The jacuzzi bathtub is awesome too! Saturday started with a real maple syrup breakfast at South Face farm and then we explored the artisan shops in Shelburne Falls. Later in the afternoon, the kids had loads of fun making thier own candles down at the Yankee Candle Factory. This is one vacation I would not have missed for the world and highly recommend it to anyone!

Johanna and I wanted to write to you to tell you how much we enjoyed our stay at the Apple Valley cabin. The description given on your website sounded too good to be true, and yet we found that the reality was that the cabin was even better than the description! We enjoyed miles of hiking trails straight from the cabin door with gorgeous views from the top of the apple orchard, home-cooked meals in a wonderful kitchen, sunset and stargazing from the ledge, relaxation in the incredible jacuzzi tub, and cozy reading by the wood-burning stove. The cabin was so well-appointed that we didn't need to leave (nor did we want to); once we arrived, we didn't get back in our car until our departure! And our dogs probably had an even better time than we did! Thank you for letting us (and our dogs!!) stay; we've rented many cabins, and yours is definitely the best. While we were there, we kept saying how we wanted to come back in every season, so we wondered how far in advance we could book the cabin, since we know we want to go back in the spring, summer, fall...Please let us know. Again, thanks so much and we look forward to another stay, hopefully very soon!
