Beautiful/Spacious Log Cabin W/Over 3400 Sq Ft of Living Space

Our beautiful custom two story log cabin was built in 2007 for our family. The cabin is over 3400 square feet, and has everything you need in a mountain home. You enter from the drive way with no stairs to get to the front door. When you walk through the front door you will find yourself in the mud room, where you can store all your snow equipment. Next, you walk into the family room and dining room area with gas/wood burning fireplace, TV with HD cable and large dining table. The kitchen is also located in this area and is well equipped with all you need.
Down the hall you will find the master bedroom with views of the back deck and its beautiful scenery. It has a King bed, an electric gas burning fireplace, TV with cable and master bath. Bedroom two has a queen bed and bedroom three has a double bed. Bathroom two is also located on this floor along with the laundry room. The top level back deck is absolutely spectacular with beautiful forest and mountain views. The barbeque is located on this deck. This level has everything for those that don’t want to deal with stairs.
The lower level includes a large game room with a bar, electric gas fireplace, pool table, poker table, TV with HD Cable, and dart board. There are two bathrooms in the hall on your way to the Great room (or 4th bedroom). This room has two double size bunk beds with double trundle pull outs, and can sleep 8 easily. It also includes an electric gas burning fireplace and TV for video games/tapes. The lower level deck is where you will find the 8 person Jacuzzi. Sit in the Jacuzzi and enjoy the beautiful scenery after a long day on the slopes.
All bathrooms have a shower/tub. The mattresses are all very nice. Bedding for the 3 upstairs beds and the 4 downstairs double beds are included in your cleaning fee along with bath towels, wash cloths and hand towels. There are 2 heaters (1 top level and 1 lower level). We have WiFi available and we will give you the passcode when you check in. The driveway can hold 3 large cars/SUV’s,possibly more smaller cars and we have a contract with a local snow plow business to clear the drive after each storm. We also have some sleds to share in the mudroom. At this time the lots on both sides of our property are vacant, so you are surrounded by beautiful trees. The entire property is fenced in for added security.
The closest ski mountain is Bear Mountain. It is about an 8 minute drive. Snow Summit is about a 12 minutes drive. The time does depend on the road conditions.
We feel fortunate to have the National Forest at end of the street with great walking/hiking trails and beautiful scenery.

I was part of a group of 4 families, 14 people (7 adults and 7 kids) who stayed here for long weekend. The house is lovely, clean, well-equipped and a lot of fun. The kids were in heaven in the converted great room downstairs, and we all had fun with the really nice pool table and the poker table. The property is beautiful and the kids found some nice spots for snow play and sledding. The owners were lovely and helpful all the way through the process - we would definitely return.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, families with young children.

My family and I have been going to big bear every winter for the past 6 years.. This cabin is without a doubt the best place we ever stayed in.. The pictures do it no just..It was very clean, up to date,, it was just excellant. The owners were very very nice!! They greeted us at the cabin, answered all of our questions, they just made me feel like i was staying at my relatives place, not a complete strangers place. Our kids had a load of fun in the game room!!(as well as the adults). We did not have to leave the cabin to go sledding, in the front ,back and sides there are slopes..We can not wait for next year, we are 100% staying here!! Thank you so much,, we had a blast!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

This home was by far the best I've stayed in. My family and I take trips to Big Bear every winter. This home exceeded my expectations. The lay out is perfect for multiple family get always. The level entry front door make it easy access without having to climb stairs. The garage parking was a huge plus too. The kitchen is fully equipped which made eating in every night a breeze. The hot tub was good for soaking after long hikes. The kids spent most of the time in the downstairs game room. The owner's made everything extremely easy. From booking the house, to the day we showed up. They were very accommodating and helpful. It was obvious the take great pride in their home. I would definitely stay here again!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, people with disabilities, families with young children.

The cabin was immaculate and everything we needed was there (kitchen utensils/supplies, sleds, etc). The location was great - located next to a hiking trail and a short drive to the slopes. There was more than enough room for our group of 10. The hot tub and game room were amazing as well. I also cannot say enough good things about the owners. They were more than accomodating and very pleasant people to work with. Overall, a wonderful experience and hope to be back soon!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

Spent the weekend with my childhood friends and their kids. This cabin was more than what we expected. The pictures are accurate as advertised but actually being there and seeing the home was impressive. The lower level was favored by the kids. We even found ourselves hanging out in the kids room with them. We appreciated the entrances on the lower level. It came in handy on the walk up from the lower level of the backyard. Appreciated the covered patio where the sauna was located. Very clean & well kept. Be sure to have chains during the winter as drive is slick. Even with that, We'd definately do it again! This weekend was perfect, the 2nd week of January gave us no to and from traffic at all! Just 10-15 min. Away from Bear Mtn. & Snow Summit. The only thing we dreaded was leaving. Owners were very accommodating and a pleasure to work with. Definitely a vacation home I would recommend to my family & friends.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, families with young children.

We had such a wonderful time during our stay at the cabin. It is comfortable and well equipped. We enjoyed the nature paths and took walks daily. My son (17) along with 4 of his close friends really enjoyed the great room and spent most of the time playing pool and cards when they were not snow boarding. My mother and her husband both (80) loved the master bedroom and fireplace. It was a great way to bond and be together over the holiday. I'm sure we will be back!!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, girls getaway, families with young children.

My husband and I stayed here for a few days in July with our two daughters and two grandchildren. The cabin was exactly as described- all the pictures are accurate. The kitchen is well stocked, everything is well maintained, and the owners were very helpful and easy to work with. The kids loved the bunk beds. We had a great time and as my five year old granddaughter said, "This is the best cabin I've ever been in!"Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you for the review Terri, and to everyone else that has given us a review and feedback over this past year; either on this site or in an email. This is our first year renting and we really appreciate you taking the time to give us this feedback. We strive to improve our cabin after each and every renter, and we have made improvements since November of last year from your recommendations. Thank you again to all our wonderful renters, we really appreciate you taking care of our home like it is your home.- The Palmer's

I don't even know where to begin. First off, the owners were so accommodating, wonderful and super easy to work with and was extremely flexible in all our needs. My family (me, my husband and 2 year old) came to the Moonridge property with 2 other couples and their 2 small children (1 1/2 and almost 2 year old) over the Martin Luther King holiday weekend. We had a WONDERFUL time. Although we would have liked to have seen more snow, we did get enough to use the sleds that were provided for at the property. The Moonridge home was perfect in every which way. The rooms are beautiful and spacious and the home is just breathtaking. The kitchen had everything we needed and the location was perfect... just a hop, skip and a jump to Bear Mountain, yet far enough to enjoy a different location. It was so comfortable that it was truly like having a home away from home. Each family member we were with would agree with me 100%. We would most definitely come for a visit again and hope that we would be able to rent the Moonridge property again should it be available to us at that time. Sorry for the late review, but thanks again to the owners for everything and especially for opening up your beautiful home to us!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

We come to Big Bear every winter and summer and were looking for a larger cabin and we found this one. We couldn't have been happier with our choice. We spent 3 nights with 3 families that included 6 adults and 4 kids ranging in age from 10 months to 4 years. This custom built cabin has everything you can imagine and it was the cleanest cabin we have ever rented. It was so clean that we didn't worry about the crawling 10 month old that was with us. We were even able to set up gates at the top and bottom of the stairs for safety (1 gate was in the cabin). It is very clear that the homeowners love this home. They met us at the cabin at check-in, showed us around the house, and a few days after our stay they toured the house to make sure everything was in order. The cabin is clearly well taken care of and has all the upgrades you would want in your own home. Most cabins are dark and this one has plenty of lights and with separate heaters on both floors, every room is warm. The huge kitchen table was perfect for family meals and board games and the kids loved sitting at the counter. Having the mud room as you enter the house was great to store all of our jackets and boots. The garage is also available for storage and we were able to park a car in the garage. We enjoyed the pool table, dart board, hot tub, and playing with the kids on the huge bean bags in the downstairs bedroom. The street the house is on is flat so the kids were able to ride their bikes safely. At the end of the street there is a nature preserve, perfect for hiking. We had to drive down the road a bit to go sledding because it's been a dry winter, but we got our sledding in. We look forward to coming back! I cannot say enough nice things about the cabin or the homeowners.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, people with disabilities, families with young children.

Year Purchased: 2007
About the owner: Our family is from Yorba Linda and we hope you enjoy our cabin. We designed the layout ourselves with the idea that our parents could continue to enjoy it with us as they grew older because they wouldn't have to worry about any stairs to enjoy the main area of the cabin. Unfortunately, our kids are so busy with their activities we just don't have the time to spend there for now, so we wanted to share it with others.
Why the Owner Chose Moonridge:
We never intended on renting our cabin, so we selected the location because we loved the area for our family. You get the feeling of being in the forest far away from the town at the cabin, but in reality the town, ski resorts and lake are only minutes away, so its the best of both worlds.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
-Sledding behind and on the sides of the house during the winter
-Walking/hiking the trail at the end of Villa Grove is absolutely beautiful any time of the year
-Snowboardin/skiing at Bear Mountain and Snow Summit
- Sitting around the fireplace watching the snow fall outside
