Hands down this is the best house we have visited. We find ourselves talking about this place to our friends all the time. My childhood vacations to Costa Rica were filled with wild settings and wildlife right up to and inside the houses. Costa Rica has become somewhat commercial since then and I was worried my wife would not get to experience the "real" Costa Rica, but this place keeps the natural wilderness with an upscale touch. It all starts with 4x4 driving, crossing shallow rivers and beautiful landscapes. The house is the last one on a road along the beach with electricity. Beyond the house is an estuary and then farms right up to secluded beaches. You sleep to crashing waves all night, then surf all day. 180 degree views of the ocean from two bedrooms and the living area. There is another bedroom in the back. Rent a 4 wheeler to get to the beaches faster and let the family take the truck if you need another vehicle. Hike for a morning to the waterfalls at Montezuma and have lunch in town on the beach. Cabo Blanco is a nice hike where we saw a large troop of spider monkeys. Malpais has fun snorkeling and bars/restaurants. We surfed a lot at Hermosa Beach and beaches to the south. Few people in the lineup and very mellow. Surf lessons can be found in Santa Teresa, just south of the house. Flor Blanca is nearby which is a top notch resort where you can get amazing meals if you don't mind spending the money. This house is a jewel located in the middle of the wilderness. We enjoyed the house just as much as the nature that surrounds it.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

The house has this amazing natural vibe when you enter the space. We were there in August when the tropical landscape is lush. The rain held off and we had great weather during our stay. A 4x4 rental car is the preferred mode of transport as the roads get washed out frequently. The house has lots of room and places to lounge. We had the guest room facing the ocean and it was perfect for us. We went horseback riding along the beach and into the interior. We went swimming everyday. The local restaurants serve great cerviche. We would go back in a heartbeat.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
